Three days later, Wu Yu took Joyce to say a final goodbye to Jess.
Leaving Joyce outside, Wu Yu went inside alone.
In the past few days, Wu Yu had not heard the sound of blacksmithing inside whenever he passed by. Today, when he went in, he saw Jess lying dejectedly on a chair, not even greeting Wu Yu when he came in.
"I'm leaving," Wu Yu said calmly to Jess, explaining what he was about to do.
"I know," Jess replied perfunctorily.
"Aren't you leaving yet?" Wu Yu frowned. Jess was clearly disheartened, but he didn't do what Wu Yu wanted him to do.
“Where to? Our home is right here,” Jess retorted.
"They'll come back." Wu Yu sighed, deciding to try and persuade them anyway, since this person in front of him was someone he had some connection with.
"After this failure, haven't you realized that some things are beyond human control?"
"You chose to stay and protect the village because you had hope for yourselves. But after this battle, although we won, the residents must be in despair. I won't be here when the demons invade again."
"How will you know if you don't try?" Jess said with a light laugh, completely ignoring Wu Yu's advice.
"Then would you still try to forge a divine weapon?" Wu Yu's words struck a nerve.
After a long pause, Jeston finally replied slowly, "If I have the chance, I will."
"To do something you know is impossible is not courage, it's foolishness." Jess's unyielding attitude annoyed Wu Yu. Jess was arguably the most respected person in Green Town, and if they wanted the entire town to relocate, they would have to get Jess to persuade them.
"Isn't there anything you'd do anything to accomplish?" Jess blinked and asked.
"I've been looking for this all along?" Wu Yu said in a deep voice.
"What about those who would give their lives to protect?"
"It's always been there, but it's almost gone now," Wu Yu replied, recalling several figures in his mind.
“Then it seems you can’t understand us. You should leave. Since we chose to stay in the first place, we won’t leave now,” Jess said firmly.
Seeing Jess's blissful smile in his desperate situation, Wu Yu felt as if he had been mocked, which annoyed him greatly. However, he couldn't vent his anger on Jess, so he could only give up on this stubborn guy and turn away.
