Chapter Fourteen: Dividing the Army into Two Groups

As a human being at the top of the animal kingdom, Wu Yu had no sympathy for other animals, nor any guilt about eating them. Apart from humans, all living beings in the world were merely tools. This was his most fundamental understanding as a human being.

So there was nothing to hesitate about, and Wu Yu coldly raised the butcher's knife in his hand.

A single, all-out sword strike.

With a last shred of mercy in his heart, Wu Yu mustered all his strength and, through the gaps between the bones of the horse's neck, successfully pierced the sword through.

"Pfft." Like a showerhead being turned on, blood splattered everywhere.

Wu Yu's pupils contracted, and his body instinctively moved away from the bright red liquid.

But some blood still stuck to his body.

"vomit."

Feeling nauseous and vomiting, Wu Yu vomited up all the dry food he had just eaten.

Even though he had experienced many battles since transmigrating, this bloody scene was a first for Wu Yu, and it was also the first time he had personally committed murder.

Wu Yu stood with his sword for a while, feeling that he had barely overcome the nausea. He then dragged his slightly sore arm to the other horse.

What exactly is true goodness?

Wu Yu stared blankly at the horse in front of him. The horse neighed and its limbs kicked frantically, but it was unable to escape because it was bound by ropes.

With a swift stroke, he severed another horse's head.

"If kindness is selfless care for all living beings, then why do I feel no guilt at this moment?"

Wu Yu approached another horse and continued to ask.

The horse was retreating desperately, and Wu Yu seemed to see a pleading look in its eyes.

"If being kind is simply about self-satisfaction based on personal values, then why do I have no intention of letting you off the hook right now?"

After two consecutive full-force sword swings, his muscles became increasingly weak.

But Wu Yu continued to use his skills.

When Wu Yu arrived at the last horse, he was covered in blood, looking like a demon returning from a battlefield. Wu Yu asked his final question.

"Even Jack kills; he's destined to represent only justice. Then who can represent goodness, or perhaps good people have never existed at all?"

The horse's body trembled incessantly, the strong smell of blood emanating from Wu Yu constantly irritating the poor little animal.

Wu Yu stopped his sword, and the horse, as if seeing hope, stopped struggling.

But soon, a flash of sword light appeared, and Wu Yu killed him in an instant.

"Indeed, I'm not a good person at all," Wu Yu sighed. This was the conclusion Wu Yu reached after trying to let the horse go but finding himself completely unmoved.

Jack's horse was a white horse, and it remained unmoved even when its kind fell, a calmness that Jack inherited.

Wu Yu wiped the blood off the sword, sheathed it, and didn't see any resistance even after climbing onto the horse's back.

As expected, Jack's arrangements are always trustworthy.

Wu Yu held the reins with his right hand and gave them a gentle flick. Without Wu Yu's command, the horse carried him and galloped away quickly.

"Host, when did you start talking so much nonsense?" The system's voice suddenly came from horseback.

“Every sword strike I make comes at a price, so I want every sword strike I make to have meaning.” Wu Yu wasn’t surprised by the system’s sudden voice, but responded calmly.

"So, have you found the meaning in wielding the sword?" the system asked curiously.

Wu Yu looked at his right hand, which was gripping the reins. He guessed that he had pulled a muscle, as it was difficult to even lift it. But Wu Yu's mind was entirely on the sword. After a long while, he said with a dejected expression.

"No, at least not these few sword strikes."
