Chapter Five: Imprisoned

However, Eugene shook his head helplessly and said, "If it were any other soldier, money would solve the problem, but this patrol captain's identity is extraordinary. She was originally the vice commander of the Flame Lion Knights, but she voluntarily accepted demotion for failing to protect the princess."

“Even though she doesn’t hold a high position now, she is a sixth-level superhuman, and she is also the heir of the Zeklica family and the future countess. My little bit of money is no match for her.”

"Hmph, Young Master Eugene, let me tell you, even if you bring your father, the president of the Dragon Merchant Guild, here, you won't get me to release him today." The female officer clearly recognized Eugene, but she still warned him without any politeness, completely disregarding him.

Wait, the vice-commander of the Flame Lion Knights? The Zeklica family? These names sound familiar.

Suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck Wu Yu. He finally remembered that this was the female knight named Maper that he had met in the desolate city.

Upon recognizing an acquaintance, Wu Yu quickly tried to establish a connection, saying, "Hey, Maper, it's me, Wu Yu. We've met before."

"Hmph, you nameless coward, don't waste your breath. I won't let any of those who harmed the princess get away with it." Mapel said ruthlessly, as if she didn't know him at all. "Throw him into the dungeon and contact the prosecutor to try him as soon as possible."

The soldier shoved Wu Yu and took him away. Only then did Wu Yu realize that he had never told Maper his name. The person she truly remembered was Jack.

Wu Yu quickly changed his tune, saying, "We met in the Wasteland City, you haven't forgotten, have you?"

Upon hearing the word "deserted city," Maper's body began to tremble. Fear, resentment, and self-blame flashed through her eyes, but ultimately transformed into the rage of someone tearing open her wounds, and her tone took on a hint of madness.

"Are you trying to humiliate me? I will never forget the shame of the desolate city, but you, a lecherous thief, dare to use it to humiliate me. I only intended to put you in jail for a few years. Very well, a villain like you is better off staying in the dungeon for the rest of your life."

Who could have imagined that he would accidentally ignite a barrel of explosives? Now he's doomed. Wu Yu could only look to his last straw: "Eugene, quickly find a way to get Phillis to save me."

"Your Highness, I won't be able to see you until tomorrow at the earliest. Don't worry, I'm going to find my sister now. She'll definitely be able to get you out." With his last hope, the chubby Eugene mustered all his strength and ran home.

Looking at Eugene's less-than-agile gait, Wu Yu felt a chill run down his spine.

······

I never expected that in less than half a year since I came to this other world, I would have been imprisoned twice. It seems that I can no longer use the label of "law-abiding citizen".

The dungeon they were in this time was much more advanced than the cell they were in last time; at least they didn't put shackles on Wu Yu, which were just for show.

Who knows how many formations were carved underground? Anyway, as soon as Wu Yu stepped into the cell, his fighting spirit seemed to get stuck and could no longer circulate. At the same time, his body felt as if he hadn't eaten for three days and three nights, filled with a sense of powerlessness.

The dungeon didn't even have a window; the only source of light was a few torches standing in the passageway for the jailers to pass through.

After observing the situation in the dungeon, Wu Yu felt that he had no way to escape, but he was relieved. He lay down on the straw bed next to him, put his hand behind his head, and waited for someone to rescue him.

What Wu Yu was afraid of was that this group would directly use their power against him. If they were following proper procedures, Wu Yu wouldn't be worried at all.

Even if Eugene's connections aren't strong enough, as long as he sees Phillis tomorrow, he can naturally be released without charge.

Maper, right? Strictly speaking, I was her savior, yet she repaid kindness with enmity. If I were beaten up, I would never forgive her for the rest of my life.

Even if it's a misunderstanding now, when I'm released, I'm going to give Phillis a good dressing down in front of her, and make her cry before I feel better.

Wu Yu smiled wickedly; now he could only console himself with a sense of self-deception.

"Hey, another new guy. Bro, what got into you this time? Tell us something funny."

But the prisoners didn't seem to want Wu Yu to have any peace and quiet. Not long after the jailers left, some people started making a fuss.

This dungeon is not low-level, but it's not the highest either. Petty thieves can't get in, and even the most heinous criminals can't be locked up.

Once people have acquired skills, their tempers naturally become bigger and bigger, and no one is willing to submit to anyone else. Fortunately, everyone lives in a single room, otherwise there would be no shortage of bloodshed.

A group of criminals spend all day here with nothing to do but boast and chat, and talking about their past crimes is one of their few sources of amusement.

Since Wu Yu had nothing better to do, he didn't pretend to be aloof and started chatting with the criminals.

"Why should I speak first? Are you bullying the newcomer? Tell us what happened first."

"Hey kid, you've got quite the nerve. I'm not afraid to tell you, back in the day I used to wield two butcher knives and cut my way from the east side of the city to the west. The Sword Saint fought me for three hundred rounds, and I only lost by half a move."

"Hahaha, you're just bragging, you stinking butcher. The Sword Saint didn't even draw his sword back then, and you were scared out of your wits by the sword energy. Besides, there are hardly any pedestrians on the street at night. You're just a pig butcher trying to pat yourself on the back." A busybody in the crowd directly exposed the truth.
