Chapter Four: Projections of the Past



No, that's not right, there's another possibility.

If we assume that Violet wouldn't harm him, then even this projection might have been deliberately left for him by her, simply to tell him more information about this world.

But what was her reason for doing this? Wu Yu had absolutely no way of reasoning from that point.

But compared to the more likely and cruel reality mentioned earlier, Wu Yu preferred to believe the unfounded hypothesis that followed.

"I must find other clues," Wu Yu thought through gritted teeth.

Just when he was at his wit's end, Wu Yu actually thought of someone: Violet's uncle, Benson.

Although it's uncertain whether it will work, he is at least Violet's only remaining family member, and perhaps she can gain some unexpected benefits through his words.

After obtaining the artifact, Wu Yu planned out his next steps in his mind: he would go find Benson.

"Tap, tap, tap."

Someone is coming.

Wu Yu heard footsteps approaching from afar. He bent slightly, drew his sword, and prepared himself for battle.

However, upon seeing who it was, Wu Yu sheathed his sword.

The two who arrived had more wrinkles etched by time than before; the girl had grown into a young woman, and the man had more gray hair.

But Wu Yu recognized them at a glance.

"Hey, Layton and Ella, it's been a long time!" Wu Yu greeted them warmly. He was quite happy to run into old acquaintances in this place.

Both of them were visibly stunned and stopped in their tracks. Ella stood still, but Layton, who remembered who Wu Yu was, rushed over even faster.

His greeting to Wu Yu wasn't a bear hug, but rather his fist, as big as a clay pot.

"Damn it, didn't you say you would protect Violet? How dare you come back alone?" Layton roared angrily at Wu Yu.
