"Indeed, the god we worship is the same being as the god worshipped by those churches, but the churches are merely tools for human profit, while we are the most faithful servants of the god. How can the blessings they receive compare to those we receive?" the spirit said disdainfully.
"The Demon King may be invincible in the eyes of mortals, but in the eyes of gods, he is nothing more than a large ant."
"Give me the power to kill the Demon King, and I'll do whatever you ask," Jerry said through gritted teeth.
"Not yet. The gods are blocked outside the chaos by the barrier of the world. Only when the gods descend to earth can we receive true blessings," the spirit denied.
"You want to get something for nothing?" Jerry's eyes flashed with hostility.
“Jerry, even if we truly possess the power to defeat the Demon King, your contribution won't be enough to secure it, so listen to my offer,” the spirit advised.
"You can choose any known deity in the world, and we will make you a 'Chosen One' after birth. "Then what do you need me to do?" Jerry asked in a deep voice. Although he couldn't get revenge, the reward was too good to refuse.
"Bring Princess Philliss to a specific place at a specific time." The spirit seemed to have known all along that Jerry would agree, and stated the prepared conditions directly.
"Will you hurt her?" Jerry asked, startled.
“We swear to the gods that we will never harm Princess Philliss,” the spirit said devoutly.
“Then I agree to the deal.” Jerry didn’t hesitate any longer; he followed his truest feelings.
"It's a pleasure to cooperate." The spirit circled Jerry several times, expressing its joy.
“Jerry, you go back first. At our next meeting, we will make you a chosen one of the gods and tell you the exact time and place. Just a friendly reminder, don’t try to back out. The eyes of the gods are watching over the whole world. Even if you escape to the ends of the earth, the gods will still bring down the divine punishment you deserve.”
After the spirit finished speaking, there was another flash, and Jerry returned to where he had been before, to the empty alley, as if nothing had happened.
