Chapter Twenty-Two: The Severed Arm

He just lost his left hand, so where does he get the courage to say such a thing? Does he have even stronger tricks up his sleeve?

The Black Dragon of Purgatory had a sudden urge to escape, but it was only because of the Demon King's presence that he was forced to stay in this dangerous place.

"Hahaha, host, do you really enjoy bragging that much? You've seen the cost of using advanced skills, so I'm asking you, do you still dare to use them? And using group skills to deal with the final boss, host, you're really hilarious." The system seemed to be rolling on the ground with glee, in its view, this farce was about to end.

"Even if I kill the Demon King by using my ultimate technique, I still won't be able to handle his minions. I have no interest in taking the Demon King down with me," Wu Yu explained to himself.

"If we can kill the Demon King with this strongest area-of-effect attack, that would be the best outcome. If we can't, it should still achieve the effect of establishing my authority."

"Establish authority? Is that what you're thinking?" The system also sensed Wu Yu's purpose.

"That's right, what I want is to show my strength before surrendering to the Demon King. I have no attachment to the humans of this other world. All I want is to survive, and preferably survive with Jack." Wu Yu finally revealed his true feelings.

"What about Jerry? He shouldn't surrender, right?" the system continued to press.

"I will naturally protect his life, but if he wants to court death, I won't stop him. Although I'm not a bad person, I'm not interested in doing good deeds either," Wu Yu shrugged and replied indifferently.

"Hiss." The pain from the wound on his left hand made Wu Yu gasp. He felt that if he delayed any longer, he would bleed to death. So Wu Yu cleared his throat and prepared to read the surrender speech he had prepared earlier aloud.

But before Wu Yu could speak, the Demon King finally uttered his first words to Wu Yu: "Human, I will remember you."

After he finished speaking, a giant black magic circle appeared beneath his feet, spreading out for thousands of meters and enveloping the entire demon army. With a surge of black light, there was no longer a single demon in the desert.

They actually ran away? That's it?

Wu Yu stared speechlessly at the scene before him, finally managing to swallow the words that were about to come out of his throat.

······

"That's amazing. Only such a great being is worth my personal defeat."

When she saw the Demon King destroy the entire desolate city with a single blow, Phillis's eyes lit up with excitement. She clenched her pink little fists and danced around excitedly.

"Your Highness, those are tens of thousands of lives!" The head maid standing to the side showed a hint of reluctance.

“I know, but this is a necessary sacrifice for the changing times. Don’t worry, I will avenge them.” Phillis remained unmoved, continuing to watch the unfolding events.

When Philliss saw Jack draw his sword and slash at the Demon King, she frowned and muttered in confusion, "Since he was able to escape from the desolate city, he should know what he needs to do now. But is he courting death? Why would he do this? Someone as rational as him would never do something so foolish."

Philliss bit her lower lip, unable to comprehend what she was seeing, and unable to tolerate the world's incomprehensible behavior.

Even though traces of blood were seeping from her lips, Phillis still couldn't understand it, and instead, his brows furrowed deeper and deeper.

Only when Wu Yu broke through the ground and unleashed that unparalleled sword strike did Philliss's brow relax.

"I see, I understand now."

Philliss happily spun around in place, completely unconcerned that her flawless jade feet were chafed by the rough sand.

After the Demon King led his army to retreat, Philliss stood on the sand dune, staring fervently at the figure of the man below, as if trying to imprint everything about him into his mind.

Philliss scooped up a handful of sand and let it fall through her fingers. After it had all fallen, she suddenly burst into manic laughter, completely disregarding her princess image. "Hahahaha, I prepared countless backup plans, but I never expected that the plan would fail at the very first step. Is this the unpredictable fate? Life is indeed meaningful."

“Wu Yu, right? I knew I hadn’t misjudged you. Is this the source of your fearlessness when facing me? What’s the emptiness behind it? How interesting. Don’t worry, I will personally peel away all your pretenses and then slowly savor your delicious core.” Phillis licked his sexy lips, then gently squeezed his hand in Wu Yu’s direction, making his declaration.

After Phillis stopped behaving strangely, the head maid tentatively asked, "Your Highness, what should we do next?"

Philliss turned around, a captivating smile on her face that was impossible to resist, and whispered in the head maid's ear in the softest of voices.

"Of course I'll kill you, my beloved head maid."
