The Sword Saint's speech was quite captivating. He shared his own growth story and his philosophy of life with the students, and finally encouraged them to study hard, believing that they would eventually become Saint-level powerhouses like him.
It sounded quite inspiring, but Wu Yu didn't feel any enthusiasm at all.
You said you were once swallowed by a giant python, and when you were suffocating, you managed to break free and burst out of its belly.
You said you spent three years in a deserted valley comprehending swordsmanship, and in one day you attained enlightenment and became a saint among men.
These things sound incredibly exciting, but they're simply not replicable. If you could teach me some more practical cultivation methods, Wu Yu might be more interested.
However, the people around him were not as calm as Wu Yu. The Sword Saint possessed the dual identity of a strongman and a handsome man, and his charm was fatal to both men and women.
After each short speech, he was greeted with applause and screams; his popularity rivaled that of a superstar from a bygone era.
For the students, the originally long opening ceremony started to speed up and ended in the blink of an eye.
As soon as the meeting ended, many students rushed towards the Sword Saint. The Sword Saint was very approachable, and if they could get in touch with him, they would be making a fortune.
Although Wu Yu also wanted to challenge the Sword Saint to a swordsmanship contest, now was clearly not a good time.
Wu Yu stood there for a while, and then Violet walked towards him.
Wu Yu held his head and asked casually, "What? Didn't you say you wanted to become friends with all your classmates? Now is a great opportunity to build relationships, why don't you spend a little more time with them?"
"Hehe, I'm not the kind of person who gets bored easily. It would be too cruel to let you go home all alone, Wu Yu," Violet said with a smile, clearly in a good mood.
"Shall we go back now?" Wu Yu asked Violet for her opinion.
"Yes, school officially starts tomorrow, so I need to bring my personal belongings to the dorm later," Violet replied. "By the way, Wu Yu, you're going to school too, so do we need to return the room Eugene provided to him?"
"No, I never said I wanted to stay in the dormitory," Wu Yu said, shaking his head.
The Royal Magic Academy does not require students to live on campus; the dormitories are mainly for the convenience of students. However, Wu Yu is not someone who is afraid of trouble.
It takes about an hour to get home from the academy. Spending two hours on the road every day does interfere with his studies, but Wu Yu never intended to make a name for himself in his studies from the beginning. In fact, he has already made plans to skip classes.
Although he felt a little sorry for Phillis's good intentions, Wu Yu estimated that he would drop out of school after becoming a first-tier mage. If his hobby became a burden on his life, then everything would be backwards.
"I have some secrets that are not suitable for outsiders to know." Seeing that Violet was a little puzzled, Wu Yu made up a reason. In her eyes, wasn't he just a mysterious strongman? It was normal for him to have some things that couldn't be revealed.
Violet didn't press the matter further, and instead pretended to apologize, saying, "Then I'll have to ask Wu Yu to guard the house. Even if Wu Yu is so lonely he cries, I can't possibly move out of the dormitory."
"Do you think I'm a three-year-old?" Wu Yu rolled his eyes and said irritably.
"When it comes to common sense, Wu Yu is worse than a three-year-old; he's practically a newborn baby," Violet joked.
Wu Yu almost guessed the truth. He had to admire Violet's keen intuition, but he didn't intend to reveal all his secrets so easily.
Wu Yu flicked Violet's forehead lightly with his finger, pretending to be angry, and said, "You have no manners."
"Ugh, Wu Yu, you're just getting angry because you can't argue with people, so all you know is animals," Violet said, rubbing her forehead in grievance.
Wu Yu bent his middle finger, as if to flick it again.
Violet was finally scared and quickly retreated, keeping a safe distance from Wu Yu.
Wu Yu smiled, feeling a bit more amused. He never expected to be so childish. Or was it just that being with Violet made him feel naturally comfortable?
After they'd had their fun, the two walked home together. Wu Yu remained silent the whole way, but Violet kept muttering to herself.
"Wu Yu is petty."
She wouldn't really hold a grudge, would she? Alright, Wu Yu is flexible and will apologize later.
The two walked home, crossed the outermost wall, but were stopped by someone in front of the door.
His bronze skin shone with a healthy glow, like sunlight; his sharp, piercing eyebrows gleamed; his long, deep, silver-gray eyes seemed unfathomable, and his long eyelashes, like wings, obscured the sharpness within them. His straight nose and slightly pursed chin hinted at his arrogant nature, and the subtle yet sharp aura emanating from him created an unprecedented sense of pressure.
It turned out to be the Sword Saint I had just met.
Why is the Sword Saint here? Wu Yu doesn't know; what does the Sword Saint want to do? Wu Yu doesn't know either.
But Wu Yu clearly understood one thing: the Sword Saint had definitely come looking for him.
Wu Yu gently patted Violet's hand twice. This was a pre-arranged signal from their previous adventure, indicating that there was danger and she should stay away.
Wu Yu hoped that Violet would simply leave the courtyard, but Violet merely retreated to the wall and remained there.
Wu Yu couldn't persuade him now; he could only face the big trouble before him. Wu Yu said neither humbly nor arrogantly, "I've come uninvited, Sword Saint. May I ask what brings you here?"
