Chapter Ten Greetings

To be honest, this wasn't a big event. At least the military parades Wu Yu had seen on TV were much grander. But the key point was that Wu Yu didn't think he could handle such a scene either.

Putting everything else aside, if that soldier who just attacked had actually fought him, Wu Yu estimated that he would have been defeated eight times out of ten. As for Jack, although he seemed very powerful, if a military fortress couldn't even control an adventurer, Wu Yu estimated that humanity would have been wiped out long ago.

"Don't be afraid, I am a nobleman, ordinary soldiers won't dare to do anything to me." Jack noticed Wu Yu's panic and quickly reassured him in a gentle voice.

"Oh!" Wu Yu was initially delighted, but then he realized something was amiss. "But I'm not a nobleman!"

"Don't worry, I'll pay your bail. I can get you out in three days at most. However, your delicate skin is usually very popular with those bullies in prison. But that's okay, I have some intermediate-level life potions here. No matter where the injury is, I guarantee it will make it as good as new."

"Are you kidding me?" Wu Yu felt a chill. He hadn't realized Jack was so filthy. He didn't need Jack's serious assurances. He should just take him away. Otherwise, if he really pushed Jack too far, Wu Yu wouldn't mind going down with him.

“I’m not one to joke around,” Jack said confidently.

"Goodbye." Without saying another word, Wu Yu prepared to make a run for it, even if he couldn't escape the fifteenth, he could at least escape the first day of the lunar month.

"What are you four still standing here for? Get in line right now!" Before Wu Yu could even make a move, a fierce-looking middle-aged man came out and berated the guards.

Seeing the four people looking bewildered, Wu Yu suddenly realized that something was wrong. Of course, there was no way that the team would be assembled before the alarm was sounded. This must be a coincidence.

"And you two, what are you standing here for? Get out of here right now! There's an important ceremony coming up, so don't get in the way." The middle-aged man then pointed at Wu Yu and yelled at him, issuing an order to expel him.

"Okay, we'll go right away." Wu Yu noticed that Jack seemed to have the urge to speak again, so he quickly covered Jack's mouth and dragged him aside while responding to the middle-aged man's order.

Damn, if Jack keeps making sweeping generalizations, Wu Yu feels like he won't survive until today.

Fortunately, Jack was surprisingly cooperative. Otherwise, even though Jack was smaller than him, with his fifth-level extraordinary power, he would have been a human fortress, and Wu Yu wouldn't have had the strength to move him.

Wu Yu and his group didn't go far, since they still had to enter the city tomorrow. They watched from a distance by the city wall, and Wu Yu was also very interested in this grand event.

Not long after, a sandstorm suddenly arose in the distance, and several dark figures could be vaguely seen rapidly approaching.

Finally, I could see clearly that in the very center was a golden giant lizard, about three times larger than the desert scorpion I had seen before, with a wooden house on its back, presumably used to carry people.

Beside the monitor lizard were seven creatures that served a similar purpose to horses, and they looked somewhat similar to Tyrannosaurus Rex models. Sitting on them were knights wearing silver armor. The one in the lead was the only one not wearing a mask. Although her face was not clear from a distance, Wu Yu initially judged her to be a woman based on her long brown hair.

"The Flame Lion Knights, are they worth having these guys escort them? Could they be royalty?" Jack muttered to himself, then walked towards the city gate again.

"Hey, what are you doing? Wait for me." For some reason, even though Jack was walking, Wu Yu still couldn't catch up even when he ran. Wu Yu didn't really want to bother with Jack, but considering that he couldn't survive in this world on his own, he struggled for a while and then followed him.

"Welcome, Your Highness!" With a shout from the middle-aged officer, the two rows of soldiers dispersed to the left and right in unison, leaving an entrance to the city wall.

"Stop." The female knight gestured, and the group stopped in front of the city gate. She glanced at the surrounding soldiers, seemingly confirming something, before asking, "How are the preparations going?"

"Reporting to the Knight, I have arranged accommodations for you all. It is the most luxurious hotel in the city. All the adventurers inside were driven away three days ago, and there are heavy guards all around, so there will be absolutely no security issues. As for the carriage to pick up the princess, it has been waiting at the city gate for a long time and can take the princess to the hotel for a meal and rest at any time."

The middle-aged officer, who had initially looked fierce, now wore a fawning expression, as if afraid of displeasing the female knight who was said to have a bad temper.

“Very well, then you can lead the way.” The female knight responded, turned her mount around, and called out, “Your Highness, we have arrived. Please dismount.”

The female knight's voice was incredibly strong; Wu Yu could hear it clearly even from hundreds of meters away. He guessed it must be some kind of special amplification technique, but he didn't have time to be curious. He just wanted to stop Jack as soon as possible because this guy was getting closer and closer to the group of knights. That was a princess, after all! If you provoked such a creature, you might get beheaded.

The wooden house on the monitor lizard suddenly opened, and a young girl walked out gracefully.

She wore an outfit completely out of place in the desert setting; her white princess dress, studded with rhinestones, still sparkled under the already dim sky. Her silver crystal shoes felt perfectly comfortable on the giant lizard's back, and her long, wavy golden hair accentuated her nobility and elegance. The silver crown on her head highlighted her illustrious lineage.
