Wu Yu stiffly turned his neck, inwardly cursing, "Why does this have to be such a coincidence? Couldn't you give me a little room to retreat?"
Looking at the fiery door that was nearly ten meters high, Wu Yu could roughly guess that another enormous creature would emerge from inside.
Without any hesitation, Wu Yu didn't let his curiosity hold him back; he took off running, and Ma Nan and the others didn't try to stop him.
However, Wu Yu chose not the exit, but the place where the evil dragon slept behind him.
When the cave was relit, Wu Yu had been searching for Violet, but he couldn't find her in such an open area. She must be behind the dragon. Before the two big shots started fighting, Wu Yu felt it was necessary to take Violet and run away immediately.
Now that the dragon has seen it, this girl won't contradict me anymore, right?
Full of hope, Wu Yu arrived behind the evil dragon, only to be shocked to find that there was no one there except for the rubble.
How is that possible? Even if she used the replacement ring Jack left behind, there should still be a human here.
Or perhaps Violet had already slipped away in the dark, but that's impossible. Judging from Manan and the others' conversation, they had people guarding outside the cave. With her skills, it would be incredibly difficult for her to get past these sixth-tier professionals.
When he couldn't figure out the answer, Wu Yu took a quick peek behind him and found that the demon that came out of the fire gate was completely different from what he had imagined.
The demon had the same appearance as a human. He was a two-meter-tall bald, muscular man whose clothes were almost torn to shreds, barely covering his skin. He had no imposing presence and looked like a clueless, naive young man.
When the demon emerged, Manan immediately knelt down and respectfully said, "Great Lord Abaddon, the one hundred living sacrifices you requested have been delivered to the cave. They will offer their souls to restore your strength."
At the same time, the thief standing next to Manan also attacked. He instantly teleported to the dragon's side and then punched it with all his might. The dragon was unharmed, but the thief's own hand was mangled and bloody. However, the thief ignored his injuries and quickly shouted loudly...
"Lord Asadron, wake up! The demon in the underground has broken free of its seal. But don't worry, I've already released those living sacrifices beforehand. Now that there are no souls to replenish the demon's power, this is the best time to kill it. Please act quickly."
The thief's sudden betrayal caught Ma Nan off guard, but the demon beside him wasn't annoyed at all; instead, he began to laugh wildly.
"Hahahaha, I never expected that even after ten thousand years, humans would still be so foolish and ridiculous in some ways. They actually think that they can control their own destiny. Looking at their efforts, I can't help but feel sorry for them. They even use the people they are protecting. Asadron, you are really cruel."
"Don't misunderstand. Apart from Ji Tiandao and his group, I have no goodwill towards other humans. They have taken enough wealth from me over the generations. It is only natural to take some interest from their generation. Besides, aren't humans quite capable? I thought that even if I died of old age, they would not be able to find a way to break your seal. But didn't they find a Boundary-Breaking Stone?"
The dragon had awakened at some point, and he stood up from his crawling position, his dragon eyes coldly staring at the demon.
Their conversation was so high and mighty; they completely disregarded the ants around them, and each had eyes only for the other.
“Lord Abaddon, even without living sacrifices, our villagers are willing to give their lives for this. Rest assured, you will not lack a single soul you require.” Manan was still trying to salvage the situation.
The demon turned its head and looked at Ma Nan indifferently, a single sentence plunging him into utter despair.
"Who exactly told you that demons need souls to restore their power?"
"Isn't this the very order you gave us in our minds?" Ma Nan asked in astonishment.
"Is this the voice you're talking about?" the dragon suddenly spoke, but this time his voice was sinister and evil. Then he spoke in his original voice, "Humans, you are of no use to me anymore. If you don't want to die, leave now. The battle that is about to begin is not for you to interfere with."
Manan stood there, stunned, the voice that the dragon had used earlier was the same one the demon had used to promise them eternal life.
So if they were deceived, then what was the point of their village's efforts over the past ten years?
"Whoosh." While Ma Nan was stunned, the thief reacted quickly, and after the dragon issued a warning, he ran out of the cave in a flash.
The two beings naturally wouldn't care about the actions of these ants.
Abaddon patted his bald head and said with a hint of helplessness, "Why did you go to such lengths to break the seal I set up? What are you trying to do? We've been doing just fine for the past ten thousand years, haven't we?
"I have no time to waste with you any longer. To prevent you from wreaking havoc after my death, I must eliminate this threat to our world before I die," the dragon replied.
"Hahaha, Asadron, have you gone mad from staying in this cave all this time?" the demon mocked wantonly.
"You're so old you're almost dead, yet you're still using the same old 'protecting the world' rhetoric. You haven't left the cave for a full ten thousand years. What does the outside world have to do with you? You spend all day in the cave simulating demons and playing house with yourself. I think you've hypnotized yourself with your role-playing game."
