Chapter Thirty-Seven: Incarnation as an Angel

Sweating profusely under the scorching purple flames, Marlowe stood above him, his wounds completely healed. He strolled leisurely above Marlowe's head, the raging demonic energy gathering and compressing towards his fingertips.

He planned to use that deadly speed of light to finish off that foolish human.

"What is that?" But suddenly, Leviathan felt the fear of death. This was the death perception that every superhuman possessed. As their strength increased, this magical sixth sense would become more and more accurate. For an eighth-order epic who had reached the pinnacle of mortals, this ability was almost equivalent to predicting the future.

Leviathan abandoned the idea of killing Marlowe and began to fly around at high speed and erratically, but no matter where he went, he could not escape the shadow of death.

"Damn it, what happened?" Leviathan roared in terror. In the end, he had no choice but to vent his anger on the capital.

In this life-or-death moment, Leviathan disregarded the energy consumption and unleashed his strongest attack, hurling a terrifying energy ball with a diameter of over ten meters.

The energy ball passed through the sea of fire. Marlowe knew something was wrong and prepared to rush to stop it, but before he could get there, the falling energy ball suddenly stopped.

Marlowe looked closely and saw a petite figure standing beneath the energy sphere that exuded an aura of destruction. Her fingertip was touching the energy sphere, and she had blocked Leviathan's full-force attack with just one finger.

"Destroy." Virginia uttered a single word, and the energy sphere began to crumble. Her words were like a divine pronouncement, and the inferior energies quickly vanished.

Marlowe, who witnessed all of this, was so shocked that he couldn't even speak. When did such a freak appear in the world? This power was too unfair.

Virginia's actions did not stop; she gently flapped her wings, and countless feathers of light plunged into the sea of fire.

"Boom, boom, boom!"

Each feather of light that flew in caused an explosion, and in the sea of fire, something seemed to be shattered.

Soon, the supposedly indestructible purple flames dissipated on their own.

"Pfft." Leviathan, who was flying in mid-air, suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood. Just now, the virtual authority he held had been shattered by another force.

In this world, only authority can counterbalance power, and only real authority can destroy virtual authority.

But isn't authority something that only gods can wield? How could a mere human possibly possess such cheating power?

Even though the human woman before him exuded a divine aura, and Leviathan's eyes stung just looking at her, it couldn't change her essential nature as a human being.

"What exactly are you?" Leviathan was truly terrified this time. He felt the same oppressive force from that humanoid angel as that of a demon king. He had come to the human world in a daze and died here inexplicably. How could he accept such an absurd outcome?

Virginia did not respond; a lightsaber appeared in her hand, and she took a small step forward.

With the power of authority, she can reach the speed of light.

When speed is reached to its limit, even a casual strike will possess earth-shattering power.

"Wh...what?" Leviathan turned around, looking at the girl who appeared behind him in horror.

His lower body had been cut in half without his knowledge; his tough body was as fragile as tofu under that lightsaber.

Leviathan no longer had any thought of resistance, and the speed his opponent displayed was so fast that it was despair-inducing.

"Humans, I'll remember this grudge." Leviathan finished speaking his threat, and his body suddenly swelled up.

"Bang." With an explosion, Leviathan's flesh and blood exploded, but the pieces of flesh did not fall; instead, they flew rapidly toward the black hole in the sky.

There were thousands upon thousands of pieces of flesh. If even one piece escaped, Leviathan could be reborn from it. No matter how fast Virginia was, she couldn't possibly stop so many pieces of flesh.

Virginia didn't even consider intercepting her. She stretched out her sword-wielding hand, and the lightsaber began to extend infinitely, until it reached a distance invisible to the naked eye.

Facing the black hole overhead, Virginia swung her lightsaber, which was thousands of meters long, as if she were going to cleave the sky in two.

Constructed by the combined efforts of six epics and consuming the energy accumulated by the capital over thousands of years, this spatial tunnel wailed under the lightsaber.

"Boom." After the formation was destroyed, the surrounding space began to collapse into the black hole. Soon, the black hole was filled, and the shadow that had shrouded the entire capital finally dissipated.

The flesh and blood lost their target and began to scatter and flee again. Virginia flapped her wings again, and one by one, the feathers of light accurately struck the flesh and blood. Then the feathers of light began to burn, and the white holy flames burned them to ashes.

"No." A mournful cry echoed from the sky as the once invincible Demon King's army officer fell helplessly to his death.

"Is it over?" Marlowe had a surreal feeling. He thought he was the savior who had come to turn the tide, but he never expected that there was a real big shot hiding here.

He had already recognized the angel-like lady as Virginia, the saintess of the Church of Light, but he didn't know that Virginia's power was so terrifying, and he didn't know what to say to her.

The sun, which had been absent for a long time, finally peeked out, and its first rays shone on Virginia, making her armor gleam. At that moment, she was as holy as a true angel.
