Chapter Twelve: Catching Coolies

"Stay here and don't move." Wu Yu carefully put Violet down and then gave her a word of advice.

“Hmm.” Violet nodded. She was not afraid of the monsters present because she believed in Wu Yu’s strength.

"Kill him, woof woof." The kobold leader didn't bother to think about why a human was here; he just wanted to kill him.

This situation was within Wu Yu's expectations. Low-level demons and humans don't communicate verbally; they basically fight on sight.

Wu Yu did not attempt to communicate with them. For humans, the best way to enslave other creatures is through bloody suppression.

After receiving the order, the kobolds dropped their tools and charged towards Wu Yu, roaring as they did so.

Wu Yu had to admire their stupidity. Before even understanding the difference in strength between them, they launched a fearless charge. But only in this way could they be considered qualified cannon fodder.

The dog-headed people have no weapons, or rather, their bodies are their weapons; their sharp claws and fangs are all deadly.

But it's still too weak. Wu Yu is holding the best sword in Jack's village!

Without even needing to rely on the difference in energy levels, Wu Yu, as a human, could easily defeat these beast-like creatures after using tools.

Without any fancy techniques, when Wu Yu's blade touched the kobold's body, the tough skin, tight muscles, and hard bones all became as soft as tofu.

With the triple [Slice] enchantment, mortal matter is utterly ineffective as a barrier.

Wu Yu delivered a single horizontal slash, maintaining his speed throughout, and sliced the three kobolds charging at the front in half.

Legend has it that when Butcher Ding dissected an ox, he could cut into the body without touching the bone, thus dissecting the ox without damaging his blade. Today, Wu Yu is doing the opposite, using the sharpness of his sword to identify the opponent's entire body as a weak point.

One relies on skill, the other on tools; one slaughters an ox, the other butchers a dog—they are all similar in their purpose.

Blood gushed out like a fountain, yet Wu Yu moved with agile steps, easily dodging the splattering blood, and casually slaying a kobold in the midst of his leisurely stroll.

This can no longer be called a battle; it is merely a one-sided massacre.

The last time his hands were stained with blood was when he slaughtered horses in Jack's hometown, and his mindset remained the same. Even though one was just a mindless beast, and the other was a civilized alien race.

But he couldn't feel any difference; his heart remained unmoved.

At the same time, Wu Yu also had a new realization: the values he had established since childhood did not include respect for life. Thinking about the delicious food on the table, the toys in his arms, and the cash crops that humans would specially cultivate, wasn't the only value of all things in the world to serve humankind?

In this world where power resides within oneself, even the relationships between people are no longer equal, and the strong can truly dominate everything of the weak.

So is he strong or weak? Does he want to become strong or weak?

The sword continued to be wielded, each strike resulting in the loss of life, yet Wu Yu, the instigator, was preoccupied with other matters.

A wisp of bloody aura permeated the air, and those unwilling souls gathered together, combining their resentment into a final, powerful surge.

In Wu Yu's spiritual sea, the clear lake water began to ripple with specks of scarlet blood.

A smile unconsciously crept onto Wu Yu's lips. From the very beginning of executing the plan to now, he seemed to be enjoying himself, reveling in the thrill of being in control of everything. Even though he was currently ruling over a group of low-level demons, Wu Yu, who held the power of life and death over them, was as great as a god.

The bloody scene unfolded before Violet's eyes, but the girl showed no fear. She watched with concern the figure fighting a bloody battle, and even though he was as brave as a war god, Violet still frowned at the growing killing intent emanating from him.

Violet would occasionally glance at the corpses lying on the ground with pity and sigh with regret.

Suddenly, a crazy idea popped into Wu Yu's head: if he were to kill a real human being, would he suffer from a guilty conscience? In doing so, he could find out whether the values he had cultivated over twenty years were part of the self he identified with.

This seems to bring him one step closer to finding his true self. After all, the pangs of conscience, upon closer examination, don't seem like an unbearable price to pay.

Just as Wu Yu's thoughts were becoming increasingly intense, a shout suddenly came from here.

"Wu Yu!"

Wu Yu looked in the direction of the sound and saw that a kobold had sneaked up to Violet's side at some point. Its sharp claws were about to approach the weak and helpless girl. Wu Yu had almost forgotten that someone needed his protection because he had been distracted.

"Whoosh."

Almost instinctively, Wu Yu turned and threw his sword. The longsword pierced the air and precisely pierced the kobold's throat. Then, Wu Yu stood up and kicked a kobold that was lunging at him, sending it flying backward and knocking back the other kobolds. Wu Yu then quickly ran back to Violet's side.

"Are you alright?" Wu Yu drew his Yuan An and then asked Violet, who had just been in danger, with concern.

“I’m fine.” Violet immediately shook her head, acting as if nothing was wrong.

Wu Yu also breathed a sigh of relief, suddenly realizing that the question he had just been pondering was somewhat ridiculous.
