Chapter 14 The Scholar Husband's Desperate Need for a Son (13)

My brother-in-law has a faint bamboo scent, which smells wonderful.

Chu Ping was completely captivated by this wonderful experience.

However, the good times were short-lived. Song Tangyin put her back on the bed and refused to take another step closer.

She coldly instructed the servant, "Go to the Imperial Hospital and fetch an imperial physician. The common doctors can't cure the Second Miss, but the imperial physicians can."

Four or five days later, Chu Ping was indeed much better.

Madam Chu began packing her belongings, and she was to depart for Anqing Prefecture no later than the day after tomorrow.

Chu Yuan finally fulfilled her wish to go shopping.

If she doesn't go out, how can she give Chu Ping a chance, right?

Moreover, Song Tangyin was off today, and he originally wanted to go shopping with Chu Yuan, but Chu Yuan persuaded him not to. "Ayin, you finally have a day off, so stay home and rest. I'll go buy some frog buttons and come back. The clothes I made for you are finished, and I'll add some nice frog buttons. I'll let you try them on myself tonight."

Upon hearing this, Song Tangyin decided not to go with them.

He did indeed have some official business to attend to.

Seeing Chu Yuan leave with her maid, Chu Ping carried a tray with a bowl of premium bird's nest porridge in her hands. Excitedly, she carried it toward the study.

Just as she was about to barge in, Song Tangyin's servant stopped her. "Second Miss, the mistress is busy and doesn't want anyone to disturb her."

Chu Ping blinked. "Huh? I thought my sister was inside. Isn't she here?"

The servant rolled his eyes. "Madam has gone out."

Chu Ping continued to feign, "Going out? When did that happen? How come I didn't know? Oh dear, my sister is really something. She didn't even call me before she went out. I even cooked her some top-quality bird's nest porridge to help her recover. I'm leaving in the next day or two, and I'm really worried about her health."

She was responsible for all three miscarriages; I wonder if her conscience bothers her to say such things now.

Song Tangyin, who was in the study, was finally disturbed by the noise. She rubbed her temples, put down her brush, and opened the door. "No noise is allowed near the study. Who is so disrespectful?"

"It's me, brother-in-law!" Chu Ping flashed the perfect smile she had practiced countless times in front of the mirror. "I'm sorry, brother-in-law, I just found out my sister went out. Did I disturb your reading?"

"Your sister is indeed not here, but she should be back soon."

"Oh, what a pity about this bowl of premium bird's nest I made. It used a lot of expensive ingredients. Since my sister isn't here, why don't you drink it for her? I see it's hot, and the bird's nest is chilled, so it'll be perfect for cooling down and quenching your thirst. You can't refuse, brother-in-law."

She had said everything, so Song Tangyin had nothing to say.

Nodding helplessly, "Alright then, I'll have Shuyan take it in."

"No need, I'll take it in."

Chu Ping was incredibly fast; before Song Tangyin could even call out, she had already put down the tray and come out, giving Song Tangyin a playful wink. "Brother-in-law, remember to eat. I have something to do, so I'll be going now."

Chu Ping was very familiar with the routines; the more nervous she appeared, the less likely things would go smoothly.

So she let go.

He strolled into the garden and waited for about half an hour before returning to the study. He quietly avoided the servant's gaze and checked on Song Tangyin through the open window.

At that moment, Song Tangyin swallowed the last mouthful of bird's nest porridge.

He felt the weather was a bit hot, but after eating chilled bird's nest porridge, he didn't feel cooler at all; in fact, he felt even hotter. Why was that?

A wave of heat quickly overwhelmed his body, making his neck, cheeks, and ears turn bright red.

I am restless and unable to control my desires.

Seeing this, Chu Ping smiled and knew the time was right. She appeared before her brother-in-law as a savior.

With a creak, the door was pushed open, and Song Tangyin's bloodshot eyes snapped towards the doorway.
