Chapter 5 Sunset City

After walking for less than an hour, a huge city appeared in front of them. It was not much different from the ancient cities that Meng Fan had seen in movies and TV dramas in his previous life, except that it was much bigger.

With Meng Fan's current eyesight, the city was probably more than ten kilometers long and wide, and the towering city walls were probably fifty meters high. Although the walls were made of blue bricks, they were extremely smooth, and even a master of the acquired realm would probably not be able to cross them.

Just as the group was about to hurry into the city, several hidden arrows shot out from the trees on both sides, their target Meng Fan and his companions.

The arrow was bluish-purple, not only designed to break through protective qi, but also coated with poison, so it was clearly aimed at their lives!

However, the one with the lowest cultivation level among them was Zhao Feng, who was still a post-natal martial artist. Dodging the hidden arrow was easy for him. The people in the forest did not expect to gain merit with the hidden arrow. Suddenly, the hidden arrow that was shot on the ground exploded, and a large amount of mist surged out.

Immediately afterwards, countless arrows shot out from the forest again. After these few moves, even if a martial artist with acquired cultivation wanted to break out of the range of the arrow rain, they would have to pay a price!

Just as Zhao Feng dodged the hidden arrow, he saw a large cloud of mist surging out and knew he was in trouble. He was about to make a move when he heard Meng Fan say, "Brother Zhao, it seems your enemy is quite capable!"

Meng Fan then waved his sleeve, and the Nine Yang True Qi burst forth. Zhao Feng and Zhui Feng beside him felt a tremendous force surging towards them, but this force was well controlled, deliberately bypassing them as it passed by. The surrounding mist and rain of arrows were also blown away by this force.

Only two words came to Zhui Feng's mind: "Innate!"

Meng Fan couldn't help but think to himself, "This is practically a simplified version of Spicy Heavenly Delight!"

Once the surroundings became visible, there was nothing else within a 30-meter radius of Meng Fan.

Seeing the situation, the masked men in the woods knew they were facing a formidable opponent and that if they didn't leave now, they would be trapped. So they quickly fled.

"Brother Zhao, it seems you're in quite a bit of trouble. If you don't give me an explanation when we get to your house, things will get very difficult."

Meng Fan smiled and said to Zhao Feng, he wasn't afraid of the other party's strength at all. If there were any innate masters, they would have wiped out the Zhao family long ago!

He felt that the Nine Yang Divine Skill at its peak was making him stronger all the time, and he estimated that he had now crossed the threshold of the Innate Realm!

Zhao Feng smiled broadly and said, "Of course, of course! Once we get to my house, I'll make sure Brother Meng's trip is worthwhile. I have some silver notes here, please accept them. Once we're in the city, all of Brother Meng's expenses will be paid by my Zhao family!"

Meng Fan had already subtly indicated that he needed money, and the reason was simple: his sect's rule was that you could pay the sect money, but the sect would never give you money! Capable people who ventured into the martial world on their own were never short of money, and those who were short of money were not worthy of entering his sect!

Meng Fan had been a mercenary for over ten years, but he was still a very upright person. Although he was short of money, he would not do anything without principles, and at the very least, he would win people over with virtue.

So, not wanting to disappoint Brother Zhao, he readily accepted the silver note!

Zhui Feng was speechless, thinking Meng Fan was someone who only cared about money.

Before long, the group arrived at the city gate. Once they reached the foot of the city, Sunset City appeared even more enormous.

There were about ten yamen runners on duty at the city gate. When the yamen runners saw Zhao Feng and his group, they immediately ran over and stood in front of Zhao Feng.

"Young Master, you're back? Hurry into the city! While you were away these past few days, the Master has practically turned Sunset City upside down!"

The Zhao family has been operating in Sunset City for many years, and their influence can be seen in various industries. This yamen runner is someone the Zhao family adopted when he was a child.

"Okay, I understand. Zhao Qing, hurry up and run a few steps to tell my father I'm back, and also to greet this distinguished guest with the highest honors!"

Zhao Qing paused for a moment, glanced at Meng Fan and the other two, nodded, and quickly left.

The four entered the city, and Zhui Feng said first, "Brother Meng, Brother Zhao, I have to go to the Six Doors branch to write a file. We'll take our leave here, and see you another day!"

"Brother Zhuifeng, it's fate that we've met. May I ask your surname?"

Zhui Feng was stunned for a moment, not quite understanding Meng Fan's meaning. After thinking for a while, he said, "I was raised by the Six Doors since I was a child. I didn't have a name originally. When we choose martial arts, we just use whatever the martial arts are called. So this name has been with me for more than ten years."

As he spoke, his eyes dimmed slightly. Meng Fan knew he had touched a sore spot, so he immediately changed the subject: "Alright, Brother Zhuifeng, heroes come from all walks of life. I hope we'll meet again someday."

Zhao Feng also indicated that if anyone needed help in Sunset City, they could ask his Zhao family for assistance. Zhui Feng was one of the Four Great Constables, someone he couldn't afford to offend and had to curry favor with.

With Zhao Feng leading the way, Meng Fan headed towards the center of the city. He was drawn to the bustling market, which had a distinct ancient feel from his previous life. After walking for half an hour, a mansion appeared before Meng Fan, with a plaque in the center that read "Zhao Mansion".
