Chapter 30 Returning to the Capital

Wang Simeng sat in a corner of the teahouse's first-floor lobby, ordered several famous Beijing pastries and tea, and listened to the storyteller on stage.

Wang Simeng had never listened to storytelling in modern times, and this was her first time visiting this place in ancient times.

At first, Wang Simeng listened with great interest, but gradually she felt that the storyteller's stories were old-fashioned.

A poor scholar catches the eye of a wealthy young lady, and after their marriage, with her help, he rises to the pinnacle of life. Later, the scholar rises in status and marries the daughter of an official, turning the wealthy young lady from his wife into a concubine. The three of them live happily ever after.

He shook his head, realizing so many people were still listening to the story, and turned to leave.

Meanwhile, the steward quickly wrote a letter and sent it to the prince by fast horse.

Three days later.

"Your Highness, the people riding up ahead look like they are from our Prince's Mansion," a guard said to Mo Beichen as he rode up to the carriage.

"Go and take a look."

"yes!"

"Your Highness, this is a letter from the steward." The guard handed the letter to Mo Beichen.

After reading the letter, Mo Beichen said to the carriage, "Stop the carriage."

The carriage stopped immediately.

Mo Beichen jumped off the carriage. "I'll ride back first; you can take your time."

After finishing speaking, Mo Beichen rode away at full speed.

"Hey! Uncle! Wait for me." Mo Mingxuan said, and rode off to catch up.

"Uncle, what's the matter that's so urgent?"

"Miss Wang has arrived in the capital. The things we bought were personally delivered by Miss Wang."

"Ah? It arrived so quickly? And Miss Wang personally delivered it." Mo Mingxuan exclaimed in surprise.

"Yes. Miss Wang will be leaving in 12 days," Mo Beichen said.

"Oh, then we still have enough time. There's no need to be in such a rush."

Mo Beichen glanced at Mo Mingxuan but didn't say anything more.

The two fell silent, and only the clatter of horses' hooves could be heard on the journey.

These past few days, Wang Simeng went to the No. 1 teahouse in the capital to listen to storytelling, ate what is said to be the best roast duck and the most famous dishes in the capital, watched two lively ball-throwing performances, and browsed jewelry shops... Apart from the Imperial Palace, she strolled around almost all the other famous places in the capital. She was having a wonderful time.

"Your Highness, you're back." The steward rushed to greet Mo Beichen when he saw him return.

"Yes, I just arrived in the capital. I'm sure you've had a hard time these past few days," Mo Beichen said casually.

"Your Highness is too kind. This is nothing more than what this old servant should do," the steward said.

"Come on, come with me to the study." Mo Beichen turned and walked towards the study.

"Yes, Your Highness," the steward replied, and followed him up.

In the study, Mo Beichen sat in a chair reading the latest memorials, while the butler stood beside him, not daring to disturb him.

"I'll go to Miss Wang's place later to deliver the visiting card and tell her that I will send someone to pick up the goods tomorrow."

"Send more men and carriages. Have them move the things they retrieved from Miss Wang directly back to the manor. Have someone arrange it." Mo Beichen instructed.

"Yes, Your Highness," the steward replied respectfully.

Mo Beichen looked at the memorial, but his mind was on other things.

"Your Highness, hot water is ready. Would you like to wash up and rest first?" the steward asked Mo Beichen.

"Okay. Go get my clothes, I'll take a shower first," Mo Beichen said.

"Yes, this old servant will go and prepare it right away," the steward replied.

Mo Beichen entered the wooden tub, soaked in it, and closed his eyes. His mind and body relaxed, feeling extremely comfortable.

After dinner, I rested.

Not long after Wang Simeng returned to the manor, she received news that Mo Beichen would send someone to pick up the goods the next day.

"Okay, you can come and pick up the goods tomorrow," Wang Simeng said to the servant at the door.

After closing the door, he returned to his spatial dimension. Having purchased the items Mo Beichen and Mo Mingxuan wanted online, he didn't immediately place them at the estate.

"Great, they've finally come to pick up the goods. Now I can go have fun in places further away."

The next morning, just as dawn was breaking, Wang Simeng transferred the goods from her spatial storage to the manor, waiting for Mo Beichen's people to come and collect them.

Back in the villa, we ate the several portions of soup dumplings we had stocked up on, the most famous in Beijing.

"Mmm~ It smells good~ There aren't many left, I must buy some more to stock up before I leave."

After finishing his meal, he vanished from the space.

"Uncle, let's go!" Mo Mingxuan said.

"Your Highness, are you going in person?" the steward asked respectfully, though he was quite surprised.

To pick up a shipment, you could just send someone; this time, the prince is insisting on going himself. Just how important are these goods?

"Okay, I'll take some people to pick up the goods. You don't need to come along," Mo Beichen said indifferently.

"Yes, Your Highness, this old servant will guard the palace here."

"Okay, go ahead."

Mo Beichen set off with Mo Mingxuan.

Mo Beichen and Mo Mingxuan rode in a carriage, followed by a long line of carriages and guards.

When the people saw the procession of carriages, they all stopped to watch and wondered where they were going.

The group arrived at a manor in the suburbs of the capital.

Mo Beichen and Mo Mingxuan got off the carriage and stepped forward to signal the guards to knock on the door.

When Wang Simeng came out to open the door, she was stunned when she saw the person outside.

"Miss Wang, it's been a long time!" Mo Beichen said with a smile.

Mo Mingxuan echoed this sentiment.

"Oh? Long time no see! What brings you all here?" Wang Simeng asked somewhat uncertainly.

"Mingxuan and I came to pick up the goods, and we also wanted to drop by to see you," Mo Beichen explained.

"I see. Come in and sit down. Have your people check the goods. If the quantity is correct, load them onto the carriage." Wang Simeng made way for the two people to enter the courtyard, speaking as they walked.

“Okay,” Mo Beichen said.

"Dark Red, take your men and load the truck."

"Yes," An Chi replied respectfully, then turned and left.

Wang Simeng led Mo Beichen and Mo Mingxuan into the living room of the house.

After Mo Beichen and Mo Mingxuan sat down, they briefly looked around the house.

The room was clean and tidy, with no decorations. The furniture was very ordinary, and there was a very basic tea set on the table.

Wang Simeng poured a cup of tea for each of them, and then poured one for herself, sipping it slowly.

"Has Miss Wang been living here since she came to the capital?" Mo Beichen asked slowly, taking a sip of tea.

"yes."

Mo Beichen asked Wang Simeng, "When did Miss Wang arrive in the capital? We didn't even meet her on the way."

Wang Simeng replied with a smile, "I just arrived a few days ago. I came to the capital to deliver goods personally, and I'm taking this opportunity to relax for a few days."

"I heard from the housekeeper that Miss Wang will be leaving in a few days?"

"Okay, I plan to leave after you pick up the goods," Wang Simeng said.

"What? Why so suddenly? Is something wrong, Miss Wang?" Mo Beichen asked hurriedly, his grip on the cup tightening without him even noticing, as he stared intently at Wang Simeng.

"I've pretty much seen all of the capital these past few days, so I'm planning to wander around somewhere else before heading back to Qingshan City," Wang Simeng replied.

“Since Miss Wang has come to the capital, why not stay a few more days? It would be good for me to show her some hospitality,” Mo Mingxuan advised.

Before Wang Simeng could say anything more...
