Wang Simeng, Mo Beichen, and Mo Mingxuan walked out of the palace.
The Regent's carriage was parked at the entrance of the palace.
"I'll take Miss Wang back," Mo Beichen said to Wang Simeng.
"No need to trouble you, I can take the carriage back myself," Wang Simeng said with a smile.
"It's alright, no trouble at all. I'll take you." Mo Beichen said firmly.
"Alright then, thank you, Regent," Wang Simeng said with a smile.
"You're welcome," Mo Beichen said with a smile.
Seeing their interaction, Mo Mingxuan decided to give them a chance to be alone. So he made an excuse that he had something to attend to and left.
On the carriage.
“Miss Wang, you don’t need to call me Regent,” Mo Beichen said, looking at Wang Simeng across from him.
Wang Simeng was taken aback. "Huh? If I don't call you Regent, what should I call you? I see everyone calls you Regent."
"Just call me Beichen. The title 'Regent' is for others to use; my friends all call me Beichen."
In truth, where does His Highness the Regent find friends? Those people either befriend him because of his status or to curry favor with him. Mo Beichen naturally dislikes this. Therefore, while Mo Beichen can't be completely cold towards others, he at least exudes a sense of distance. That's why everyone else addresses Mo Beichen as the Regent or simply "Your Highness."
Of course, Wang Simeng was unaware of all this.
"Huh? Will this work?" Wang Simeng asked Mo Beichen with some uncertainty.
"Okay." Mo Beichen said with certainty.
“Oh, I’ll just call you Mo Beichen. Actually, I’m not used to being called Regent. In my hometown, friends call each other by their first names,” Wang Simeng said with a smile.
"Okay," Mo Beichen nodded. Although he wasn't called Beichen anymore, it was much better than calling me Regent Prince Mo Beichen.
"Okay. Then don't call me Miss Wang anymore. Just call me by my name," Wang Simeng said with a smile.
“Okay, Simeng,” Mo Beichen said with a smile.
"Huh?" Wang Simeng was stunned for a moment, staring wide-eyed at Mo Beichen.
Huh? What's with "Si Meng"? Can't you just call me Wang Simeng? If I tell him directly, "Don't call me Simeng, just call me Wang Simeng," wouldn't that be too awkward? Would it make me seem petty? Oh well, it's just a name. Let him call me whatever he wants.
Mo Beichen gave Wang Simeng a charming smile. Wang Simeng was stunned for a moment when she saw it, but quickly came back to her senses and couldn't help but sigh in her heart, "He is indeed handsome, and he's so close to me. Why not take a look at such a handsome man?"
Sigh, I wonder which young girl will be seduced by him in the future. A man like that will definitely have no shortage of admirers. Whoever gets together with him will be in for a lot of trouble, having to spend time and energy fending off all those unwanted suitors. What bad luck. Wang Simeng thought to herself, shaking her head inwardly.
Seeing Wang Simeng shaking her head, Mo Beichen couldn't help but ask, "Simeng, what's wrong?"
"Oh, it's nothing, it's nothing," Wang Simeng quickly said, trying to cover it up.
"Yes, it's good that you're alright." Mo Beichen nodded and said.
The carriage slowly arrived at Wang Simeng's estate on the outskirts of Beijing.
"Then Simeng, I'll pick you up the day after tomorrow morning," Mo Beichen said to Wang Simeng.
"Okay, see you the day after tomorrow." Wang Simeng waved to Mo Beichen with a smile.
"Okay, goodbye." Mo Beichen waved and drove the carriage away.
On the day of the Lantern Festival.
Mo Beichen and Mo Mingxuan arrived at Wang Simeng's estate early in the morning.
Wang Simeng wore a light blue dress today, looking youthful, beautiful, and refreshingly elegant.
"Let's go," Wang Simeng said with a smile to Mo Beichen and Mo Mingxuan.
"Okay." Mo Beichen and Mo Mingxuan nodded, and together with Wang Simeng, they rode in a carriage towards the venue of the Lantern Festival.
On the carriage, Mo Mingxuan noticed that Mo Beichen called Miss Wang "Si Meng," which puzzled him. When did these two become so close?
“Miss Wang, your uncle calls you Simeng. May I call you Simeng too?” Mo Mingxuan said with a grin.
"Huh?? Haha, of course, then I won't call you Third Prince anymore, I'll just call you Mo Mingxuan, okay?"
"Okay, you can call me Mingxuan from now on. That's what my friends call me in private. I don't know why, but when other people call me the Third Prince, I don't feel anything. But when you call me the Third Prince, it feels a bit strange. Haha."
Soon, the carriage arrived at the venue for the Lantern Festival.
This year, the lantern festival was held in one of the most bustling areas of Beijing. The streets were filled with all kinds of lanterns, in various shapes and colors, which were very attractive.
Everyone on the street wore a different half-mask and held a beautiful lantern in their hand.
"The location of the Lantern Festival in the capital changes every year. This time it's in the east of the city. All the beautiful lanterns for the festival are on this street. You should be able to find one you like here," Mo Beichen said to Wang Simeng with a smile.
"Why are they all wearing masks? Is it a feature of the Lantern Festival?" Wang Simeng asked curiously.
"Hehe, every lantern at the Lantern Festival is carefully crafted by the florists with their own heart, and then placed in the Nuwa Temple for seven days before being taken out."
People say that lanterns represent the blessings of the goddess Nuwa. People can write their wishes on the lanterns. After writing their wishes, they go to the riverbank and release the lanterns. Then, in the new year, their wishes will come true.
"Wearing a mask is to prevent others from seeing your face, thus finding your lantern and maliciously destroying it, hindering you from fulfilling your wish," Mo Beichen explained.
