Wang Simeng didn't insist on paying. The three of them chatted as they walked.
"This is the largest lantern shop in the capital, specializing in decorative lanterns," Mo Beichen explained.
"Okay, let's go in and take a look." Wang Simeng said with a smile to Mo Beichen and Mo Mingxuan.
The three of them entered the lantern shop.
The lantern shop was bustling with activity, with people coming and going. The shop was filled with lanterns of all kinds.
The lanterns sold in the lantern shop are all arranged according to color.
Some lanterns are bright red, some are bright yellow, some are small red, some are blue, some are green, and some are white.
"These lanterns are so beautiful, the designs on them are simply amazing," Wang Simeng exclaimed as she looked at the various lanterns.
"Of course. These lanterns are the highest grade of our lanterns," the shopkeeper explained from the side.
"Oh, really? How much does one of these lanterns cost?" Wang Simeng asked with a smile.
"Hehe, young lady, all the lanterns here are thirty taels each. Would you like to buy one?" the shopkeeper asked.
"Thirty taels?" Wang Simeng said in surprise. Thirty taels was no small sum for an ordinary family.
"Shopkeeper, I'll take all of these." Mo Beichen said, taking out a stack of silver notes.
The shopkeeper was overjoyed and quickly took the silver note, saying, "Yes, yes, please wait a moment, I'll go prepare it."
"Hey? Mo Beichen, why did you buy so many lanterns?" Wang Simeng asked.
"I'm giving it away," Mo Beichen said.
Wang Simeng gave Mo Beichen a thumbs up: "You're amazing."
Wang Simeng continued looking around the shop, intending to buy her favorite lantern.
"Shopkeeper, I want the light pink lantern." He said, reaching for his silver coins in his crossbody bag.
Seeing this, Mo Beichen quickly grabbed Wang Simeng's arm, stopping her from taking out her money.
Wang Simeng slightly raised her head, looking at Mo Beichen with a puzzled expression. She was completely unaware that Mo Beichen was pulling her arm. "Huh?"
"Si Meng, these lanterns were originally meant for you," Mo Beichen said with a smile.
"Huh? It's for me?" Wang Simeng exclaimed in surprise.
"Mm." Mo Beichen nodded.
"I thought you were planning to give it to your sweetheart. I have my own money, I can buy it myself," Wang Simeng said to Mo Beichen with a smile, patting her crossbody bag.
"No need, I said I'd give it to you, so I meant it." She paused for a moment, then added, "I don't have anyone I like."
Wang Simeng wanted to say something more.
Mo Mingxuan said, "Si Meng, since your uncle said he'd give it to you, just accept it. It's not expensive anyway. Besides, my uncle is very wealthy."
"Haha, I don't need the others, I'll take this light pink one." Wang Simeng didn't stand on ceremony anymore, and directly took the light pink lantern that she liked the most and touched it.
Mo Beichen and Mo Mingxuan, one took the purple lantern and the other took the blue lantern.
Mo Beichen's lips curled slightly when he saw that Wang Simeng liked the light pink lantern. He exchanged a glance with the lantern shop owner, who nodded slightly and then put away the other lanterns.
Few people know that the true owner of this lantern shop is the current regent, Mo Beichen.
Wang Simeng walked down the street carrying a lantern, touching the pale pink lantern as she went. Mo Beichen and his companion followed closely behind, about half a step behind her, flanking her protectively.
Wang Simeng was completely oblivious to all of this.
This was the first time in her life that she had received a gift from a boy. Wang Simeng thought to herself with emotion.
Whether Wang Simeng is immature or has low emotional intelligence, while others start dating in junior high, Wang Simeng is still single and only thinks they are just friends among classmates.
They walked to and from school together because their homes were close by.
After graduating from junior high school, Wang Simeng learned from her classmates' gossip that they had actually been dating before.
Once in high school, Wang Simeng's thoughts were filled with nothing but studying and playing with her neighborhood friends. What did they play? Hide-and-seek and jump rope.
Seeing male and female classmates playing together, I just thought they were good friends. Later, I overheard my deskmate talking and found out that there were actually so many classmates in the class who were dating.
In her senior year of high school, some boys would ask Wang Simeng's classmates for her contact information, invite her to hang out, or offer to walk her home from school. But Wang Simeng's thought was, "I want to study hard and improve every day."
In short, Wang Simeng never received any gifts from boys.
Wang Simeng strolled along, holding a lantern, occasionally turning back to chat with Mo Beichen and Mo Mingxuan, having a great time.
Gradually, more and more people filled the streets. The crowd grew denser and denser.
Wang Simeng and the other two walked for a long time before finally reaching a riverbank.
Many people were writing and releasing lanterns along the riverbank.
"Wow, so many lanterns!!" Wang Simeng exclaimed.
"Do you like it?" Mo Beichen asked.
"I love it! So many lanterns, they're so beautiful!" Wang Simeng exclaimed excitedly. Then she pressed the camera button on her left wrist and started snapping photos.
Mo Beichen did not see Wang Simeng's actions.
"Let's release some lanterns too," Mo Beichen said to Wang Simeng with a smile.
"OK!"
The three found a quiet spot and squatted down to write their wishes before realizing they didn't have pens. Mo Beichen was about to get up to buy a pen, and Mo Mingxuan was about to ask someone to borrow one.
