"I think this Miss Wang is our lucky star."
"That's right, this Miss Wang is truly our lucky star."
Wang Simeng led Shuang'er and Cui'er in a queue, entered through the street entrance, and slowly strolled around.
When Wang Simeng reached the food street, she stopped.
This street is full of all kinds of delicious food.
There are vendors selling French fries, stinky tofu, hot dry noodles, grilled cold noodles, grilled gluten, mini barbecue, boiled tripe, potato towers, chicken strips, fried mushrooms, garlic vermicelli scallops, grilled red sausage, giant squid, skewers, pancakes, takoyaki, giant chicken cutlets, hot and sour noodles, stir-fried mung bean jelly, stir-fried clams, roujiamo (Chinese hamburger)...
Seeing all this, Wang Simeng felt like she had returned to a modern night market. If it weren't for the fact that everyone was dressed in ancient costumes, she might have really thought she had traveled back to the modern era.
"Boss, give me a serving of these takoyaki." A boy of about fourteen or fifteen years old said while eating a large handful of skewers.
The boy was accompanied by two servants, both of whom were carrying plenty of food.
"Alright, please wait a moment, sir," the owner replied with a smile.
"Give me one too, boss, and make sure to add extra sauce."
"Boss, what about my portion?"
"Okay, okay, everyone don't rush, we'll definitely be able to finish the whole pot," the boss said with a smile that narrowed his eyes into slits, and even though it was the middle of winter, he was sweating profusely.
"Boss, I'll have a serving of takoyaki too," Wang Simeng said with a smile as she handed over the money.
"Alright, sir, that'll be eight coins in total. Here's your money first." The shopkeeper smiled and handed Wang Simeng the remaining coins and a lottery ticket, stamping a red seal on the ticket.
Wang Simeng herself didn't feel anything while writing the proposal, but as a participant in the event, she felt a little excited and hoped for good luck in winning the prize.
"Shuang'er, Cui'er, just tell me what you want to eat on this street. We'll buy it for you." Wang Simeng smiled at Shuang'er and Cui'er.
“Yes, Miss.” Shuang’er and Cui’er replied with smiles at the same time.
"Miss, your takoyaki is ready," the shopkeeper said with a smile.
Wang Simeng took the takoyaki, skewered one on a bamboo stick, and put it in her mouth.
"Mmm, delicious, very fragrant." It tastes almost the same as the takoyaki you buy at modern night markets.
"Shuang'er, Cui'er, you two should try some too." He said, handing them to the two of them.
Shuang'er and Cui'er each tried one. "Wow, this is so delicious!" Cui'er's eyes widened.
"These takoyaki really taste good," Shuang'er said.
"Miss, let's buy another one." Cui'er swallowed hard, looking at Wang Simeng with some anticipation.
"Okay, let's buy another serving of takoyaki. We'll be eating other things later, so we can't eat too much now," Wang Simeng nodded in agreement.
"Boss, another order of takoyaki, please," Wang Simeng said, taking out eight coins.
"Okay!" the boss readily agreed.
In no time, the takoyaki was served.
Wang Simeng, Shuang'er, and Cui'er continued walking towards other food stalls while eating.
The recipes for most of the food at these food stalls were provided by Wang Simeng. So, as the three walked, Wang Simeng explained the flavors of the dishes. Shuang'er and Cui'er were completely overwhelmed by the variety.
In the end, Wang Simeng bought some food that all three of them liked, based on their individual tastes.
All three of them had their hands full. Before they even reached the back of the food street, Wang Simeng and the other two were already stuffed.
"Oh, Miss, we still have so much food to eat, but I can't eat anymore." Cui'er was a little reluctant, but thinking about her full stomach, she had no choice but to give up.
"Cui'er, this is only the first day of the event. There are still half a month to go. We'll definitely be able to try all the food on the food street," Wang Simeng comforted her with a smile.
"That's right. Cui'er, don't worry." Shuang'er chimed in.
Wang Simeng and her two companions continued walking forward, passing through the food street and heading towards the game street.
"Boss, how do you play this?" a middle-aged man asked, holding the hand of a four- or five-year-old boy in one hand and a young woman in the other.
"This is called ring toss. You step on this red line and throw the rings. It costs 10 coins for 50 rings, and you get whichever ring you land on," the shopkeeper explained with a smile.
The man looked at the items scattered on the ground. There were various animal figurines, snacks, toys, jewelry, vases, tea sets, and five taels of silver in the far distance.
"The boss gave me 10 coins."
"Okay, 50 rings, please take them." The shopkeeper smiled and reminded him as he took the money.
The man handed some to the little boy and the young woman, and took some for himself.
"The three of us will wear it together," the man said with a smile to the little boy and the woman.
Okay~
In an instant, all three rings came out at once, and the man got a piece of jewelry.
"Wow, Daddy, you're amazing!" The little boy clapped his hands excitedly.
The exclamations drew the attention of many more people.
The ring toss stall gradually became crowded.
"This ring toss looks pretty simple, why is it so complicated?" A little boy in a blue long shirt looked at the ring in his hand and muttered to himself.
"Young man, you don't understand. Ring toss requires a certain level of skill; you need to practice a lot to succeed," the shopkeeper said with a smile.
"I see. Give me another 50 coins' worth of rings." Then, he took out a large handful and handed them to the older boy next to him. "Big brother, you do it, you can definitely do it."
“Alright, third brother, I must get you one today,” the boy agreed boldly.
"Second brother, why don't you give it a try?" the little boy said to the other big boy.
"Okay." The big boy nodded.
The two boys each grabbed a handful of rings and started tossing them together.
"Wow, big brother, second brother, you guys are amazing!" The little boy jumped up and down excitedly.
Such scenes unfolded at various game booths. Friends tossed rings together, brothers threw balls together, and sisters tried to win prizes together. Occasionally, there would be moments of frustration and criticism of each other's lack of skill, while others would cheer each other on.
Wang Simeng led Shuang'er and Cui'er through games and received many small gifts, eventually arriving at the blind box guessing stall.
