Chapter 6 Heading to the Big City

Wang Simeng glanced outside; seeing no one around, she instantly vanished from the spatial dimension. Some people were setting up stalls at the city gate, hawking their wares. The variety of vegetables and fruits was limited, but there were plenty of food vendors selling wontons, steamed buns, mantou (steamed bread), and sesame seed cakes.

After queuing, it cost two coins to enter the city. We found an inn to rest temporarily. It was the best inn in Qingshan City—Yingkelai Inn.

"Please come in, sir. Are you here for a meal or to stay the night?" The waiter greeted us with a smile as we approached the inn's entrance.

"Get me a room at the inn, and prepare some of the best dishes in the restaurant to bring up." Wang Simeng took out a fifty-tael silver note from her bag and put it in her waiter's hand.

"Alright, this way please, sir. I'll take you to your room." With that, he walked ahead and led Wang Simeng up to the third floor, to a luxurious private room.

Wang Simeng entered the private room, closed the door, and looked around. This room, which cost five taels of silver a night, was not as exquisite and beautiful as the villa in the space, but it was still acceptable, with a lot of room for improvement.

The room is about 30 square meters, quite spacious, and decorated in an antique style. The bed is really big, enough for two people to roll around in. The quilt cover is made of silk, and the quilt feels very soft. There is also a small daybed next to it. In front of the bed is a large screen that separates a bathroom that is about the size of a double room.

The bathroom contained a wooden bathtub, two basin stands, two copper basins, a large wall-mounted copper mirror, and a small cubicle with a small wooden tub inside. Wang Simeng looked around and then lay down on the bed.

"It's a little better than I expected, but it seems like it could be even better~"

A while later, the waiter knocked on the door and brought three dishes, a soup, a dessert, and a small dish of Lao Gan Ma chili sauce. The dessert was surprisingly canned yellow peaches. Wang Simeng was also quite surprised when she saw it.

I secretly admired the innkeeper; he really had a knack for business. He poured half a can of food into an exquisite porcelain dish, selling it for the price of two cans. What a rip-off! The chili sauce was also considerably more expensive.

Of course, Wang Simeng wasn't jealous. The three dishes and soup were still relatively light in flavor, but they tasted quite good when mixed with Lao Gan Ma chili sauce.

"Haha, that's great." Wang Simeng rubbed her stomach, which was now completely full.

I immediately decided to go out for a walk, to digest my food, and to experience the local customs and culture.

Wang Simeng left the inn happily.

Wang Simeng wore novel and unique clothes, and had a cute appearance. She was strolling alone on the street, attracting many secret glances from passersby.

"Xiao Liu, do you think I should change into something more ordinary? I've read a lot of novels, and in them, someone like me is usually seen by some bully or dragged away by a spoiled young master from a wealthy family and forced to become a concubine. I'm not afraid of them, but I still find it annoying."

"Hahaha~ I'm dying of laughter, Xiao Liu. Host, you're overthinking it."

Those are just plots in novels. There aren't that many fools in reality. Don't wealthy families care about their reputation?

Besides, with money, what kind of people can't you find? If you're going to be bad, it'll be done secretly, not in broad daylight... And with your spatial ability and the Golden Bell Shield, who can hurt the host?" System Xiao Liu stopped eating its melon seeds, paused the TV series, and was laughing uncontrollably while clutching its stomach.

"Okay, I guess I was overthinking it," Wang Simeng said speechlessly.

I started browsing through the shops on the main street. I went to a jewelry shop and looked at some hairpins and earrings. The shop owner was a woman in her thirties, with a slightly plump figure, who looked like a nice person.

Sure enough, after chatting with the proprietress for a while, she insisted on giving her a pretty updo, inserting a newly bought butterfly hairpin into her hair. She thanked the proprietor and continued shopping. With her new hairstyle, Wang Simeng looked even cuter and more playful.

She hadn't gone far when Wang Simeng stopped, her eyes fixed ahead. Ahead, a short, shifty-eyed man was stealing a woman's purse.

The moment the short man snatched the purse, Wang Simeng leaped forward and kicked him, sending him flying three meters away.

I learned a few martial arts manuals in the study of the villa. Although they weren't top-tier manuals, they were more than enough to deal with a short, trashy guy.

The short man clutched his stomach, groaning in pain, unable to get up. Those around him were stunned, staring at Wang Simeng with strange looks.

Wang Simeng walked up to the short man without changing her expression, glared angrily at the thief, and pulled a woman's purse from him.

"You dare to steal in broad daylight. You're a waste of air when you're alive, a waste of land when you're dead, and a waste of coins when you're half-dead. Bah! You're nothing."

Wang Simeng turned around and handed the purse to the woman. Only then did the woman realize that her wallet had been stolen.

"Thank you, young lady, thank you!" the woman said gratefully to Wang Simeng.

"Don't mention it. Just remember to keep a close eye on your wallet next time you go out," Wang Simeng said with a smile, waving her hand as a reminder.

Upon hearing Wang Simeng's reminder, the woman nodded vigorously.

Wang Simeng hates two kinds of people: liars and thieves, who act like humans but do nothing.

The commotion was quite loud, and soon several policemen, with swords at their waists and serious expressions, walked over.

"What's going on?" one of the constables asked as he walked over with a serious expression.

"Sir, it's like this..." The kind-hearted commoner quickly explained in detail what had just happened.

After listening to the explanations from the enthusiastic crowd around him, the constable quickly understood what had happened and glanced at Wang Simeng.

He immediately showed a surprised expression, but quickly recovered. After thanking Wang Simeng with a fist and palm salute, he left with the thief.

Two teenagers at the second-floor window of the teahouse next door saw everything clearly and were quite surprised.
