Chapter 67 Don't Refuse Me

"Why did you come back alone? Where's Chengfeng?" Xu Hongying asked, holding her bowl and chopsticks. She felt that Chen Sisi was acting a little strange, and her face was as red as a ripe apple.

I don't know if it's hot or cold.

Chen Sisi rushed into the kitchen in a panic to bring out the dishes, her breath still carrying his scent.

The food on the table had just been set when Gu Chengfeng pushed open the door and entered. He was already fully dressed, except that the collar of his shirt was not buttoned up properly, revealing most of his neck.

"You're here, hurry up and wash your hands and eat."

Gu Chengfeng looked at the iron basin beside him. The water had just been soaking Shen Sisi's hands, and she was about to change the basin when he unabashedly put his hands in.

"It's dirty... let's change it!"

Gu Chengfeng grunted, "It's not dirty, don't waste it."

After washing his hands with soap, Gu Chengfeng dried them and took the initiative to pick up the empty bowl to refill his rice bowl.

He handed Niu Niu her small bowl: "Give the child some food first, don't let Niu Niu go hungry."

Shen Sisi didn't dare to look up and meet his gaze, quickly taking the rice bowl and saying, "Thank you."

Then, Gu Chengfeng glanced at the small bowl, his brows furrowed slightly, and turned to walk into the kitchen, where he found a large bowl for soup.

It's still more satisfying to eat from a big bowl!

He was about to turn around when he suddenly sniffed and smelled a medicinal odor in the kitchen.

The last time he came home, he smelled Chinese medicine. He wanted to ask Shen Sisi, but he didn't dare to speak.

He looked at the dregs of medicine in the trash can. Was this Niu Niu's medicine or Si Si's?

Is Sisi sick?

Just then, he caught a glimpse of two large barrels of oil out of the corner of his eye. Last time, Sisi had also gone out of her way to find soybean oil. How come they ran out of oil in just a few days? And she even bought two big barrels?

He tightened his grip, then took a step and walked out.

At the dinner table, apart from Niu Niu, no one touched their chopsticks.

Niu Niu was really starving. She was holding a big bone and gnawing on it with her mouth full of oil.

Xu Hongying sat to the side, rolling up shredded pork with sweet bean sauce in a flatbread to make a wrap for Niu Niu.

"Sit down." Shen Sisi noticed the large bowl in his hand. Gu Chengfeng could really eat... but he wasn't fat at all, and didn't have an ounce of fat on his body.

The thought of excess fat inadvertently conjured up an image of Gu Chengfeng sawing wood in her mind.

That physique, those muscles, that lean waist...

That was awesome!

Gu Chengfeng sat down absentmindedly, hesitated for a long time, and finally asked, "Sisi, are you feeling unwell?"

Chen Sisi's fingers, which were holding shredded meat, suddenly trembled: "Uncomfortable? I'm not uncomfortably uncomfortable..."

“That medicine…” Gu Chengfeng glanced toward the kitchen.

Chen Sisi suddenly realized, "Oh dear, this has caused quite a commotion... and even led to misunderstandings."

“That medicine isn’t mine, nor is it Niu Niu’s. It’s an herb used to make medicinal oil.”

"Medicated oil?" Gu Chengfeng's eyes widened suddenly, as if he had discovered a new continent: "You can make medicated oil?!"

"Hmm!" Shen Sisi had originally planned to tell Gu Chengfeng after she had achieved something, but now it seems that she can't hide it from him anymore.

Now that she had started talking, she simply revealed everything about her business in medicinal oils and her oil mill.

Gu Chengfeng and Xu Hongying were both stunned. They hadn't expected that Shen Sisi would start a business so soon after arriving in the city, and do it quite well, with orders for over a hundred bottles.

"Here's what I'm thinking: instead of begging and pleading to buy oil, and worrying about its quality and price, I might as well take over that oil mill."

“The oil mill is quite large, about 70 or 80 square meters. We can use machines to press edible oil while also using traditional oil pressing methods.”

"If you have a receipt for the medicated oil, sell the medicated oil first. If you don't have a receipt, you can sell it as cooking oil in bulk."

"So, you made that cart for the oil mill?" Gu Chengfeng asked.

"Yes, the old man said I had to learn the craft from him and that no one was allowed to help me. I had to move the pendulum of the oil press all by myself, but he didn't say that tools were not allowed!"

Chen Sisi's eyes were wide open, sparkling with tiny glints of light.

"You're so clever!" Xu Hongying laughed.

“It was indeed a clever move.” Chen Sisi’s smile vanished in an instant, and she suddenly became sad: “Actually, I could feel that the old man just wanted to see my attitude. After all, he has a deep affection for this oil mill, his old craftsmanship, and his old partners.”

Gu Chengfeng's already deep eyes darkened for a moment: "I had no idea you'd been so busy with these things these past few days..."

He spoke reproachfully, blaming himself for not paying enough attention to Sisi.

The last time he accompanied her to the dock, he thought she was being frugal and reluctant to use good oil, and he grumbled to himself for a while.

If he had just asked her a question back then, she wouldn't have had to face everything alone.

Sometimes, caring too much about someone can make you overly cautious.

Gu Chengfeng didn't understand before, but now he deeply understands.

"Sisi, no matter what happens in the future, you must tell me, okay?" Gu Chengfeng remained silent for a while, his alluring peach blossom eyes drooping slightly as he tried his best to hide his surging emotions.

As he finished speaking, Gu Chengfeng added firmly, "You are not allowed to refuse me."

Chen Sisi chuckled. She hadn't intended to hide it from him in the first place; she just didn't want him to worry.

She uttered softly, "Okay!"

Gu Chengfeng's eyes reflected Sisi's clear smile. He hadn't expected Sisi to be stronger than he had imagined, even though she didn't need to be so strong.

"From now on, leave these rough and tiring jobs to me."

"You and your mother really are mother and son, you say the same things..."

Xu Hongying was focused on feeding Niu Niu, and seeing that she liked the shredded meat pancakes, her hands were busy feeding her.
