Chapter 87

Chapter 87

This newborn baby was born knowing how to suckle, which surprised Han Shuo. The little boy had such great strength.

The little mouth kept sucking and sucking, and Han Shuo even suspected that if he were to lift his body away at this moment, the little mouth would probably be like a suction cup.

"Damn..." Han Shuo looked down at the child buried in his chest and still felt a little awkward.

Meng Yuxiu couldn't help but stand up from the chair next to him and lean over to look at the nursing baby.

Seeing his head getting closer and closer, Han Shuo used his arm to block him, "What are you doing? If you get any closer, you'll block him."

Meng Yuxiu said, "Let me see how he eats."

Han Shuo gave up. "What's so interesting about this? If you keep looking, I'll splash you with splatter."

Upon hearing Han Shuo's words, Meng Yuxiu couldn't help but chuckle to himself.

However, Han Shuo couldn't stop this first-time father. Seeing Meng Yuxiu staring blankly at his son nursing, he could only raise an eyebrow with amusement and affection and tease, "How about you have the other one?"

Meng Yuxiu raised his eyes and glanced at Han Shuo, letting out a smug and arrogant hum.

You can imagine how the 19-year-old father felt. He found his and Han Shuo's child novel and fascinating.

If the book hadn't been wrapped in a thick little blanket, Han Shuo felt that Meng Yuxiu would have been tempted to grab his little feet and sniff them intensely.

In the end, all he could do was reach out and touch the bulging cheek of his baby-fed child to relieve the itch, then whispered to Han Shuo, "How long is he going to stop eating?"

How would I know?

"I heard that puppies can't control their appetite and won't stop eating even when they're stuffed," Meng Yuxiu asked nervously. "Will he?"

However, Meng Yuxiu's worries were unnecessary. The human cub was still aware of the situation. He stopped eating after a minute, but his face was still buried in Han Shuo's chest.

After Meng Yuxiu slowly moved his face away, he saw that his son's head was tilted to one side like a little drunkard. His eyes were closed, his chubby face was tilted up, and his little mouth was open, making him look funny like a small triangle.

After finishing his milk, Han Shuo rested at the town's health center for the morning. When the sun was shining at noon, he wanted to go home.

The doctor examined Han Shuo and said there was nothing wrong. Since the hospital room was not as comfortable as home, the family packed up and called a tractor.

When the tractor arrived, Meng Yuxiu wrapped Han Shuo up tightly, even putting a hat and scarf on him, and then carried Han Shuo to ride the tractor.

Han Shuo didn't let anyone hold him. Now that he had given birth and rested for a morning, he felt as if his body hadn't felt this relaxed in ages. Getting out of bed, he even had the illusion that his steps were several pounds lighter.

Meng Yuxiu had no choice but to help him walk to the tractor.

"Schoolbag, let's go home." Meng's mother covered the schoolbag's face with a small blanket, then carefully got on the tractor.

Han Hong left in a hurry last night. Since Han Shuo had given birth safely, he said he had to go back to Xiaoshi Village to bring back some clean clothes. So he asked Han Ting to go back to the Meng family first, while he went to Xiaoshi Village.

The villagers of Xiqiao Village had already learned from tractor driver Wang that the Meng family had a grandson.

The sun was shining brightly today, and a group of people were chatting under a big tree when they heard the sound of a tractor chugging and stopping at the village entrance. They knew that the Meng family had returned from the hospital, so they all crowded around to see the newborn baby.

"Oh, Teacher Meng, congratulations!"

"I heard they had a big, healthy baby boy last night!"

After getting off the tractor, Meng's father smiled and repeatedly responded to everyone, "Thank you, thank you."

As he spoke, he turned around and lifted Han Ting off the tractor, then stood below and helped Han Shuo off the vehicle.

The villagers wanted to watch the child for a while longer, so Meng's mother said to Meng Yuxiu, "Xiaoxiu, take Xiaoshuo back first, don't let him catch a cold."

"good."

Han Shuo saw Han Ting jumping and shouting around Meng's mother and asked him, "Are you going home with your uncle or what?"

Han Ting was clutching the small blanket in his schoolbag with both of his little hands. When he heard Han Shuo ask, he happily said, "I want to go with my schoolbag!"

Meng's father smiled and patted his head.

Han Shuo added, "Don't wander around."

"good!"

Winter is a busy time of year in the countryside, with little work to do. When villagers heard that the Meng family had returned from the hospital, they came in droves to see the children.

Mencius' mother carefully lifted a corner of the small blanket, revealing the face of the schoolbag.

The newborn baby couldn't help but furrow its tiny brow as it came into contact with sunlight for the first time.

"Oh my!" The elderly women in the village were overjoyed and kept praising the boy for his handsome and refined appearance.

"Exactly the same as when Xiao Xiu was little."

The hands and feet inside the small blanket stirred, and Meng's mother quickly patted and coaxed them. She smiled and said to her mother-in-law, "Your temper isn't like Xiao Xiu's. Look, you get upset when we raise our voices and you're kicking your feet."

"Hahaha," a villager joked, "That doesn't look like your daughter-in-law!"

Mencius' parents and the villagers didn't chat for long, because Mencius' mother noticed that the child's little tongue was pressed against his lips and he started smacking.

"Oh dear, I'm hungry." The villagers hurriedly told Meng's mother to take the child back.

Mencius' mother smiled and said to the older women, "You'll have to come over this afternoon to help coat the eggs with red dye."

"Sure, we'll come right after lunch!"

In the afternoon, the Meng family's courtyard became lively. Meng's father bought several baskets of eggs, and cooked pot after pot downstairs. After cooking, taking advantage of the good weather, he set up round sieves in the yard and had everyone sit in the sun to rub the eggs red.

Friends and relatives would occasionally come to visit the baby in the couple's room. However, knowing that Han Shuo had just given birth, they didn't make much noise and would go downstairs after seeing the baby.

In fact, Han Shuo felt much more relaxed after having a child. Apart from breastfeeding, he didn't need to take care of the baby at all.

When Meng cried, his mother would comfort him; when he wet himself, Han Hong would wash his diapers; Meng Yuxiu would get up at night to relieve himself; and his father would prepare all three meals a day.

Han Shuo only needed to open his mouth to eat and close his eyes to sleep.

On the contrary, Meng Yuxiu had dark circles under his eyes since he was born. Because the baby needed to be fed at night, he had to stay in the young couple's room.

Han Shuo, however, was carefree and wouldn't be woken up by ordinary noise.

At night, the child, dressed in thick clothes and pants, was placed between the young couple while they slept. Meng Yuxiu was a light sleeper, and he would wake up immediately if he noticed the child moving beside him.

He subconsciously patted his schoolbag and then turned on the light bulb.

Just as the schoolbag was about to open its mouth and start crying, he quickly grabbed Han Shuo's shoulder, turned Han Shuo around, lifted his clothes, and pressed the schoolbag's head against him.

"Han Shuo." If Han Shuo was sleeping too soundly, Meng Yuxiu could only gently shake his shoulder. "Han Shuo, your schoolbag needs to nurse."

"Ah...oh..." Han Shuo probably forgot he was playing the role of a mother in his dream. After vaguely hearing Meng Yuxiu's voice, he turned to the side.

Meng Yuxiu leaned the small body of the schoolbag closer to Han Shuo, and even with its eyes closed, the schoolbag could still find its way around like a little blind man, puckering its lips.

Han Shuo woke up. To be honest, every time he wakes up and sees the child lying next to him or in his arms, he is still momentarily stunned.

It takes at least a few seconds for them to realize, oh, this is his child.

However, after two days of breastfeeding, she has adapted quite a bit.

Hearing the baby in his arms making humming noises while eating, he couldn't help but look down.

The backpack's eyes were slightly open, but not very wide. Its two small eyelids fluttered, revealing two thin slits, and occasionally its dark, round eyes would dart around.

If Han Shuo flicked his tongue at him to tease him, he would be attracted by the sound, and while still sucking on his milk, his eyes would slowly move to look at Han Shuo.

Meng Yuxiu watched from the side, a smile in his eyes, his arm propped up on his hip.

Seeing his tired face, Han Shuo said to him, "You should take a nap. I'll burp him later."

Meng Yuxiu said he wasn't sleepy.

The nineteen-year-old boy, a new father, couldn't get enough of his son. Han Shuo noticed that although he looked tired, he still seemed to have plenty of energy.

Even while her son was nursing, Meng Yuxiu couldn't help but grab his little hand from his schoolbag and take a deep sniff, as if he were intoxicated by it.

Han Shuo couldn't help but chuckle and asked, "Does it smell sour?"

Meng Yuxiu smiled and said, "No, it smells good."

"Tsk tsk tsk." Han Shuo joked, "Now even if he farts, you'll say it smells good."

Meng Yuxiu smiled without saying a word, then extended one finger, letting the schoolbag's five little fingers grip it tightly.

Meng Yuxiu couldn't sleep well at night, so Han Shuo let him catch up on sleep during the day.

Today is New Year's Eve. Meng's father got up very early and went to town to buy vegetables and meat. He left early and returned early as well.

When I got back, the others were still asleep.

He then went back to his room and called Mencius' mother, saying that he had bought breakfast and asked her to wake up the others to eat breakfast.

While Meng's mother was getting dressed in bed, he complained that she was being slow and kept urging her, "Get up quickly and go bring Xiao Shuo breakfast."

Mencius' mother knew exactly what he was thinking. "Why don't you just go over there?"

Mr. Meng: "Tsk, as a father-in-law, how could I just casually go into my daughter-in-law's room? What if she's breastfeeding?"

"Alright, alright." Mother Meng quickened her dressing. "Then go and wake up Brother Xiao Shuo and Ting Ting for dinner."

Meng's father left the room to call Han Hong and his son next door.

After Meng's mother brought the soy milk and fried dough sticks into the young couple's room and then came out again, Meng's father, who was in the corridor, asked her, "Is your schoolbag still nursing?"

"We haven't fed him yet!" Meng's mother said with a smile. "Hurry up and go inside. I know you want to see your grandson."

When Meng's father was exposed, he looked somewhat embarrassed. But despite his embarrassment, he still knocked on the door and asked, "Is Xiao Shuo up yet?"

I heard Han Shuo mention it.

He opened the door and went inside.

Han Shuo was eating breakfast at his desk when he greeted Meng's father as he walked in: "Dad, have you eaten yet?"

Meng's father smiled and said, "I've eaten, you should eat it while it's hot."

"OK."

Meng Yuxiu was sleeping wrapped in a bright red quilt because he had gotten up frequently during the night last night.

However, Meng's father didn't even glance at his son. He simply leaned over and pulled the blanket in the middle of the bed down a little.

When he saw his grandson with his bright, dark eyes, the principal's serious face broke into a wide smile.

"They've all opened their eyes?"

Han Shuo replied, "I opened my eyes last night."

However, the schoolbag, who had just opened his eyes, had no expression and looked rather dull. In addition, his mother was worried that he would catch a cold at night, so she dressed him in a little sweater and long johns, which made him look even more dull.

Even though he was so dull, Meng's father would only praise him, saying, "This kid's eyes are so bright and clever! He's just like yours, Xiao Shuo."

After praising his daughter-in-law, he couldn't resist criticizing his own son, saying, "When Xiao Xiu was little, he wouldn't even react when I called him 'Dumb'."

At this moment, if the little hands and feet of the schoolbag moved even slightly, Meng's father would praise it endlessly.

"Oh, looking at Grandpa?"

Even Meng Yuxiu, a light sleeper, couldn't stay awake any longer today. He was sleeping very soundly, probably trying to make himself more comfortable, and he shifted his body in the blankets.

This movement earned him a slap on the bottom from his father through the blanket.

Mr. Meng glared at him, "You keep moving around in your sleep, aren't you afraid of rolling over on the child!"

Meng Yuxiu then realized there was someone else in the room, but he wasn't fully awake yet. He just opened his eyes and groggily called out, "Dad?"

Then he pulled the covers over his head and went back to sleep.

Meng's father shook his head at his son and went back to playing with his grandson.

He originally intended to just take a quick look and leave, but he couldn't resist the urge to grab the small blanket, wrap his grandson in it, and lift him off the bed.

He didn't carry it around the room; instead, he stood at the head of Meng Yuxiu's bed, patting the schoolbag and coaxing it, "Our schoolbag got up so early!"

"Look at your lazy dad."

"The sun is already high in the sky and you're still sleeping."
