Chapter 31
"Ring ring ring—"
The alarm clock rang on Monday morning. Having gotten used to being a sycophant, Han Shuo reflexively opened his eyes and subconsciously reached out from under the covers to find his clothes and get out of bed.
However, as soon as his fingers touched the cold clothes on the quilt, he suddenly paused, and then the events of the previous two days flashed into his mind.
"Damn it! A leopard can't change its spots!" Han Shuo cursed again as he pulled the blanket over his head and closed his eyes again.
The dormitory door opened, and the person on the lower bunk, hearing the noise, rubbed their eyes and said sleepily, "Han Shuo, why are you up so early again? You still have ten minutes to sleep."
"Get up my ass! I'm sleeping!" Han Shuo cursed from under the covers.
Upon hearing this, the person in the lower bunk curiously peeked out from under the covers to see who was up so early in the morning, only to be astonished when he saw who it was.
"Hey, it's you, Meng Yuxiu?"
Han Shuo's eyes, which had just closed, snapped open the next second. He sat up abruptly on the bed, and the others in the dormitory, upon hearing that it was Meng Yuxiu, also craned their necks in surprise.
There's nothing we can do; Meng Yuxiu is known throughout the school for being aloof and not fond of interacting with people. The fact that he's gotten so close to Han Shuo in the past two months is already quite unexpected, but everyone agrees that it's Han Shuo who's unilaterally being a simp.
It was quite surprising to see Meng Yuxiu suddenly bring a thermos to Class 7's dormitory so early in the morning.
Han Shuo sat in bed, watching people come in from the dormitory door.
Meng Yuxiu was wearing a black cotton-padded jacket and an indigo scarf around his neck. He had probably just gone outside, as a tuft of hair on his head was still sticking up slightly. He brought a gust of cold wind into the dormitory and quickly closed the door.
Since learning he was a zero on Saturday, Han Shuo has been very depressed for two days in a row. Before, he used to pester Meng Yuxiu with a smile, but now his eyelids twitch whenever he sees Meng Yuxiu.
Noticing that Meng Yuxiu was about to look up, he quickly flopped onto the bed and covered his head again, pretending not to see.
Meng Yuxiu looked up at Han Shuo's bed, but didn't wake him immediately, thinking that it was cold and he should let him sleep a little longer.
So, without disturbing the other people in the dormitory, he quietly put down the thermos in his hand, then found Han Shuo's washbasin and mouthwash cup on the washstand, and then went out to the bathroom to fill the washbasin and mouthwash cup two-thirds full with tap water.
Back in his dorm room, he pulled out the cork from the thermos, added hot water to the basin and mouthwash cup, and felt the temperature was about right. Just then, the second bell rang.
Although most students in Class 7 got up and dressed after the second bell rang, a small number of students, like Han Shuo, stayed in bed.
Meng Yuxiu, being introverted, didn't dare to directly call out to Han Shuo in front of so many people in Class 7's dormitory.
He walked over and gently patted the blanket on the upper bunk.
Han Shuo hasn't slept at all since Meng Yuxiu entered the dormitory. To be honest, he's quite afraid to see Meng Yuxiu now. Seeing Meng Yuxiu means that the consequences of his previous shameless urging of Meng Yuxiu to do the task have rebounded on him.
Because Meng Yuxiu asked him for two consecutive days, "Han Shuo, did you do the mission on my birthday?"
Han Shuo gave him a vague and perfunctory answer.
Now he just hoped that Meng Yuxiu would think he couldn't be woken up and leave quickly. As soon as Meng Yuxiu left, he would immediately roll off the bed with a somersault, then quickly wash his face, brush his teeth, and run to the cafeteria for breakfast. After breakfast, he would pretend to be studying hard for the last semester and never leave the classroom again. In short, he would procrastinate as long as he could.
As for whether it's a mission or not, Han Shuo couldn't accept being a bottom for the time being, so his butt wasn't that important for him at the moment.
Meng Yuxiu waited a minute, but the person under the blanket didn't react. He asked Pidan, who was getting dressed next to Han Shuo, "Isn't he awake?"
Pidan leaned over and looked again. "Wow, the dorm is so noisy, and you're still not awake? Hey, Han Shuo, Meng Yuxiu is calling you."
Han Shuo kept his eyes tightly shut, cursing the bastard in his heart.
The person in the lower bunk said, "Huh? Still not awake? That shouldn't be the case. I thought he was the one who woke up early, and he even cursed at me. Oh, he probably fell asleep again."
A few mischievous students in the dormitory teased Meng Yuxiu: "Meng Yuxiu, it looks like you'll have to go up and wake him up yourself!"
Others: "Yeah, Meng Yuxiu, hurry up!"
"Hey, what was that Andersen fairy tale or what was it again? It said Snow White needed a kiss from the prince to wake up, hahaha!"
"Yes, yes! Meng Yuxiu, go up and give him a kiss!"
"Hahaha, this is going to make Han Shuo laugh his head off!"
Hearing the teasing from his roommates, Meng Yuxiu blushed with embarrassment. He hesitated for a moment, then took off his shoes, grabbed the ladder, and climbed to the top bunk.
Students of this age love to watch a good show. What Han Shuo and Meng Yuxiu, these two outsiders, didn't know was that this behavior was like a boy breaking into a girls' dormitory and then climbing into a girl's bed.
Seeing this, the students in the dormitory all excitedly watched the movement on the bed, while Pidan and Doufu, who were on either side of Han Shuo's bed, covered their mouths with their fingers and whispered to the others, "Shh—"
The dormitory fell silent instantly, with only a few occasional chuckles.
Han Shuo was so pretending to be asleep that he got goosebumps. Damn it! He should have jumped out of bed earlier. Now, he overdid it. If he had gotten up before Meng Yuxiu called him, given Meng Yuxiu's sensitive nature, he would most likely have noticed that he was avoiding him.
Never mind, I'll just wait until Meng Yuxiu calls out a couple of times, and he'll pretend he just woke up.
The wooden bed creaked under his weight, making Meng Yuxiu feel quite embarrassed, as several pairs of eyes were cast around him. Even students who had just finished washing up and returned to their dormitories were standing below, watching the upper bunk with great interest.
Although Meng Yuxiu was embarrassed, a strange feeling gradually arose in his heart. He couldn't describe it. Before, Han Shuo had brought hot water to his dormitory every day, and he felt very uncomfortable in front of his roommates.
But now that he has switched places with Han Shuo, he is experiencing mixed emotions when faced with the teasing from his roommates in Class 7.
It seemed that the fact that he had started to dote on Han Shuo made him feel sweet. This sweetness was secretly buried deep in his heart, but it was slowly brought out by his every move. He almost couldn't help but smile.
Only then did he realize how Han Shuo had comforted him, teased him, and brought him hot water.
"Han Shuo." Meng Yuxiu reached out and gently touched Han Shuo's cheek.
Upon seeing this little action, the people in the dormitory all grimaced and made strange noises in suppressed voices: "Eek~~~"
Meng Yuxiu felt uncomfortable with their strange noises, so after thinking for a moment, he decided to pat Han Shuo on the shoulder instead.
Damn it! Han Shuo couldn't hold it in any longer. He mentally prepared himself, hoping that when he opened his eyes later, he wouldn't see Meng Yuxiu's tender and affectionate gaze, or his greasy eyes as he woke his wife up.
He would definitely be annoyed first thing in the morning.
Fortunately, when he opened his eyes, he saw Meng Yuxiu sitting next to him, with a pure and innocent look on his lips, just like the expression he had when he pinned someone down on the bed in his dream.
"Ah..." Han Shuo pretended to be confused as if he had just woken up. After becoming a zero, he felt inexplicably guilty, afraid that others would see that he had become a zero. So he deliberately made his interaction with Meng Yuxiu as natural as that of ordinary classmates.
"You're up so early?"
However, Meng Yuxiu did not have this awareness. He looked at Han Shuo and leaned over to say in a low voice, "Get up quickly, I've made you some hot water."
"..." If Meng Yuxiu had spoken so softly and tenderly just two days ago, Han Shuo would have jumped for joy.
But at this moment, all he wanted to do was wail, "No, bro! Can't you just speak normally? What's with this shy, smiling, whispering stuff?"
Are you afraid others won't know that I'm a bottom who's pampered by you?
Not only could Han Shuo hear the tone in his voice, but everyone else in the dormitory could too.
In an instant, they all started howling and screaming like ghosts.
"Han Shuo! You've finally made it!!!"
Pidan couldn't help but sigh with emotion, "It seems that Han Shuo's efforts have finally paid off!"
When Han Shuo heard the people in his dormitory making fun of Meng Yuxiu's wife, he felt a tightness in his chest.
Two or three days ago, Han Shuo could let them joke that he was Meng Yuxiu's wife. He could even shamelessly call himself Meng Yuxiu's wife. It didn't matter, because he was upright and had nothing to fear!
However, only two or three days later, the title of Meng Yuxiu's wife sounded particularly ironic to Han Shuo.
However, on the surface, he had to act like a fool and laugh with them as if nothing was wrong, while inwardly he wanted to cry but had no tears.
Damn! Let whoever wants this reward take it; he'd rather stay a lapdog!
Meng Yuxiu has now become Han Shuo's shadow. He waits for Han Shuo to get dressed and put on his shoes, follows Han Shuo to the bathroom to wash up, and then follows him to the cafeteria.
It had snowed for two days in a row, and the playground was covered in a white blanket. Even though it was not yet fully light, there was no need to use a flashlight.
Han Shuo's egg hadn't fully healed yet, and he was walking unsteadily in the ankle-deep snow. Meng Yuxiu then supported him by the arm and helped him walk towards the cafeteria.
Students who were also going to the cafeteria looked at Han Shuo with curiosity and then whispered among themselves.
Han Shuo has become like a frightened bird; even if others are just having a normal discussion, he can misinterpret it.
He quickly pushed Meng Yuxiu away, saying, "I can walk by myself, don't help me."
But after Meng Yuxiu was pushed away, he came back to Han Shuo the next second and helped him up again. "Your injury hasn't healed yet, let me help you."
Suddenly, the giggling of several girls nearby reached over, and Han Shuo frowned and pushed Meng Yuxiu away again.
"I already told you I can walk by myself."
"Don't fall."
"Oh, I know, I know, hey hey hey... why are you helping me up again?"
Meng Yuxiu: "I'm afraid you'll fall."
Han Shuo panicked, "Stop helping him up!"
"What's wrong?"
"Damn it!" Han Shuo said quickly in a low voice, "I walk like a cripple, and you're always helping me. People who don't know the situation might think it's..."
Meng Yuxiu was taken aback and asked, "What did you think it was?"
"..." Han Shuo didn't want to say it out loud. Now, "zero," "being with you," and "let you sleep with me" have become taboo words for him.
He said impatiently, "Oh well, never mind, let's hurry up and go to the cafeteria. I have to go to morning self-study after I finish eating."
After helping Han Shuo to the cafeteria, Meng Yuxiu told him to wait where he was.
Then he went to the boiler room to find the metal frame for the lunchboxes of Class 7. After finding Han Shuo's lunchbox and teacup, he continued to look for his own lunchbox.
Han Shuo watched as Meng Yuxiu busied himself bringing over the lunchbox and teacup. He wanted to open the lunchbox, but Meng Yuxiu opened the lid first and handed him the spoon.
Han Shuo grabbed a spoon and tried to open the teacup lid, but Meng Yuxiu beat him to it and scooped the food into his lunchbox with the spoon.
And he picked the shredded meat from his own teacup and put it into his lunchbox.
Han Shuo's hands were trembling as he held the spoon. He really wanted to throw the spoon into the lunchbox, grab Meng Yuxiu by the collar, and grit his teeth, asking, "You! Do you fucking think I'm a bottom?!"
But he found it hard to say, fearing that Meng Yuxiu would retort, "I'll treat you the way you treated me before."
What could Han Shuo say then? He was too ashamed to say anything, since he had indeed treated Meng Yuxiu as a zero before.
He could only eat breakfast with a sense of utter despair, his tongue turning bitter from the meal.
After finishing breakfast, Meng Yuxiu quickly took away the lunchbox, washed it clean, and rinsed the rice again.
Han Shuo is like a useless piece of trash; all he has to do is open his mouth.
It was already daylight when they came out of the cafeteria, and the two headed towards the teaching building.
Now that it was daylight and there were more students on the playground, Han Shuo refused to let Meng Yuxiu help him anymore.
Meng Yuxiu could only say okay, and then he silently followed Han Shuo without saying a word.
Han Shuo glanced at his dejected expression, wondering if he had gone too far with his attitude. Thinking about it, Han Shuo felt uneasy. After all, what had Meng Yuxiu done wrong? Moreover, Meng Yuxiu was the man he had doted on for two months.
So he gently nudged Meng Yuxiu with his elbow, "Why don't you help me up? I still feel a little pain."
Meng Yuxiu immediately laughed again, his hand slipping under Han Shuo's arm.
However, just as Han Shuo softened his heart, Meng Yuxiu said, "Han Shuo, my birthday is still six days away."
Han Shuo froze instantly; he had already sensed what Meng Yuxiu was about to say.
Sure enough, Meng Yuxiu asked, "Is the task to be done on my birthday?"
Han Shuo's lips twitched violently twice. "Why are you asking this again? Didn't you just ask me that yesterday?"
Meng Yuxiu: "You didn't answer me yesterday."
"You asked that the day before yesterday too!"
You didn't answer me the day before yesterday either.
"..." Han Shuo not only felt a headache coming on, but also a slight ache in his head. He didn't want to answer, hoping that silence would shut Meng Yuxiu up.
He suddenly understood how Meng Yuxiu felt when he was constantly pestering him to do tasks.
Is it my birthday?
"Damn it!" Han Shuo yelled, "But my balls still hurt, don't they?!"
Meng Yuxiu: "I know, I just want to confirm if it was that day."
"Damn it!" Han Shuo was furious. He stopped and bared his teeth, yelling, "Confirm! Are you in such a hurry?! Damn it!"
It seems that Han Shuo has been enjoying a lot of good days since he repaired his relationship with Meng Yuxiu this month, and after Meng Yuxiu revealed his feelings.
He almost forgot that Meng Yuxiu was actually a very temperamental person. After he yelled at him, Meng Yuxiu's face instantly turned cold.
His long, narrow eyes were dark and deep, appearing cold and eerie against his fair skin. Yet, his tightly pursed lips held a hint of grievance as he stared at Han Shuo without saying a word.
Han Shuo's heart skipped a beat.
Holy crap, what am I doing? Why did I yell at him? He's just going from 0 to 1, just like his previous self, eager to complete the task...
He's only seventeen... How is this any different from bullying a child?
For a moment, Han Shuo felt incredibly guilty, but facing Meng Yuxiu, who was so restrained yet on the verge of breaking down, he didn't know what to say. He opened his mouth.
Meng Yuxiu released his hand from Han Shuo's support. Han Shuo saw him clench his fist slightly, and then he saw him lower his eyes and take a deep breath.
After a moment, he looked up at Han Shuo again and asked, "What's wrong with you? Why has your temper become so bad?"
Han Shuo wanted to slap himself. He deserved to die! How could he have hurt the innocent Meng Yuxiu?
"I..." Han Shuo quickly softened his tone, "What do you mean?..."
Meng Yuxiu cast a cold glance at him. "You don't want to do missions with me, do you?"
"I..." Han Shuo's lips twitched. "I didn't!..."
Meng Yuxiu gave a slight twitch of his lips, his tone laced with sarcasm: "All those things you said before were just to coax me. In the end, you just wanted me to be on the bottom. If it were you, you wouldn't want to."
Han Shuo got nervous, but his mind went blank on this topic, so he could only keep saying, "I really didn't!"
"I didn't refuse!"
"How could you say I'm unwilling? You've really wronged me."
"Never mind." Meng Yuxiu chuckled self-deprecatingly, then strode forward.
Han Shuo was shocked when he heard this. He didn't want to be a bottom, but he didn't say he really didn't want to do the mission! Instantly, the pain in his balls didn't hurt so much anymore. He hurriedly stepped through the thick snow to catch up with Meng Yuxiu and grabbed him.
"Stop calculating! I didn't say anything, why are you just letting it go?"
The snow was probably too deep, so Meng Yuxiu couldn't walk fast. But after Han Shuo grabbed him, he half-stopped and half-walked, stubbornly saying, "Never mind, I don't want to wrong you."
Han Shuo said, half-pulling, half-dragging, "Don't do this, I'm not wronged! Ahhh, okay ...
Meng Yuxiu stopped and stared at Han Shuo, scrutinizing his face.
“I don’t like being deceived,” he said, frowning.
Han Shuo repeatedly said, "I didn't lie, I swear to God!"
"real?"
"Really, really!"
Meng Yuxiu pursed his lips, then looked at Han Shuo with a slightly awkward expression and said, "So, should we do the mission on my birthday?"
"..." Han Shuo almost fainted in the snow because of a dizzy head. He was truly impressed!
What could he possibly do? He'd already said so much; what else could he do? He could only say, on the verge of tears, "I...I'll think about a time, is that alright?"
Meng Yuxiu was no longer angry; a smile appeared in his eyes, and he returned to being the reserved, polite, and sensible good student. He nodded and said, "Okay, I'll wait for you."
