Chapter 63【VIP】
Brett's mansion was darker than Jian Yue had imagined.
Along the way, Jian Yue kept her head down and paid attention to her feet.
She was taken to the studio, where Theodore said he wanted to introduce her to his brother.
Thick velvet curtains blocked out most of the light, leaving only a few wall lamps hanging above the canvas, illuminating the hunched figure in front. His wooden prosthetic limbs made a clicking sound as they stepped on the floor.
"Brother, she's here." Theodore's voice broke the silence.
The man didn't turn around, his paintbrush moving rapidly across the canvas. "Let her stand there." His voice was hoarse, like sandpaper rubbing against wood, but it still sounded familiar to Jian Yue. "Don't touch my painting."
Speaking of paintings, Jian Yue turned her head to look at them - those paintings were all images of gods, but none of them had the majestic and holy feeling of gods. Instead, they made her feel creepy.
She withdrew her gaze and stood in the center of the studio as instructed, her eyes still drifting uncontrollably to the unfinished painting. The god on the canvas had the same emerald eyes as Sinderel and golden hair that streamed like sunlight. The worshippers at the god's feet were all invisible.
"Do you like this painting, 'Redemption'?" the man suddenly asked, turning around. His right eye was bandaged, and his left hand held a palette, its fingers stained with dried paint. "Master Kidd said that when Sinderel fully awakens his divine power, this painting will become a reality."
Jian Yue's eyes widened in shock: "Ludovic?"
"How do you know my name..." Ludovico seemed to have a sudden realization. "Oh... you're the woman who possessed my sister's body. No, you're the demon."
"What are you talking about, sir?" Jian Yue feigned surprise. "I've only heard of your name. You're a painter in the church, a student of Father Kidd, the legendary priest who can converse with the gods. It's not surprising that I know you."
But... Jian Yue still took another look at Ludovic.
Why did he become what he is now?
"Impossible! You are the devil! The devil who destroyed my ideals!" Ludovico suddenly coughed violently, his wooden prosthesis scraping harshly on the floor. "Sinderel is God! The God who came to save us! Kidd is the saint who led him to become a god!"
Theodore stepped forward to support him, his eyes complicated: "Brother, do you need medicine?"
"No need!" Ludovico pushed him away violently, staring at Jian Yue with his one eye under the bandage. "She is the demon that occupied Opesha's body. She must have killed Holly! She ruined my plan!"
Jian Yue's heart suddenly tightened.
It turns out that Opesha is from the Bright family, and Holly was sent by him to assassinate Opesha.
She didn't expect Ludovico to be so direct and pointed out the problem. She subconsciously reached for the cross on her chest. As long as she sprinkled the poison powder, the brothers would die within ten seconds.
"Demon?" She suddenly laughed, taking a step forward and looking directly into Ludovico's single eye. "I'm far inferior to someone who treats your actions and your loved ones as pawns."
Ludovico's face turned pale in an instant.
Suddenly, a sword was pressed against his throat.
"I won't allow you to insult my brother, Jian Yue." Theodore's voice came coldly from behind. "I volunteered."
"Heh..." Jian Yue glanced at the long sword pointed at her coldly, dismissing it with disdain. "I can see it. After all, you are the executioner, watching your brother and sister kill each other."
"Yue, I..."
"Where's Mary?"
It was still the question that came up. Theodore didn't dare to look her in the eye. "...I killed her."
"So you trapped me just to delay me so you can poison me and frame me, right?"
"yes."
"If you fail, you'll take me with you to death, right?"
"yes."
That was about it. She had asked almost everything she needed to ask.
But, she still had a question in the end.
"What about Sinderel? What will you do?"
"Surround him, he will become the new king and lead us to a new world."
"Is this the order Kidd gave you?" Jian Yue laughed in anger. "Do you really think someone like him can lead you into a new world?"
"Hahahaha..." Ludovic laughed crazily, his pupils constricted. "It doesn't matter. When I agreed to join Pace Trading Company and become that executive officer, I was already unable to go to heaven. None of this matters anymore!"
He pointed his finger at Jian Yue, trembling with madness, "Theodore, control her. Once you get the news, kill her immediately. We can't let her interfere with our plans again!"
"Yes, brother." Theodore answered calmly, like a stiff puppet.
At this moment, hurried footsteps were heard outside the window, and the butler rushed in, tumbling and crawling, his voice filled with tears: "Master! It's bad! The Regent and his guards have surrounded the mansion!"
"What?!" Ludovico said, paint splattered all over his white robe. "How would he know?!"
Theodore's expression changed. He looked at Jian Yue, a hint of disbelief flashing in his azure eyes. "So, you were secretly having an affair with Sinderel?!"
have. "
She also wanted to know why Sinderel came.
Ludovico was so angry that his face turned blue and he kept shouting, "Kill her, kill her!"
Theodore received the order,
clang.
Following two loud noises, Jian Yue opened her eyes.
, Xindrell stood in front of her, his tall figure standing in front, and his shadow covered her entire body.
Gurgle gurgle.
She heard some splashing and the sound of something rolling, and subconsciously looked over, only to see a large hand as thin as a bamboo covering her eyes.
"Don't look."
There was still cool raindrops on his fingertips, but they were quickly evaporated by his body temperature and turned into moist heat.
"Catch him."
The guards swarmed forward, and Ludovico screamed and rushed towards Sinderel, but was stabbed in the chest with a sword.
"Sinderel!" Ludovico shouted, "We want you to become a god... Ugh!"
Before he could finish his words, he was knocked unconscious and the guards dragged him away from the scene.
Jian Yue subconsciously struggled to break free, but the man's fingers were like a chain, shackled her waist.
Then, she felt a soft touch—the other person took a silk ribbon and bound her eyes.
The hot shackles locked her hands, making her unable to move, and connecting her and him together.
The suitor's head fell at his feet.
"...Sinderel?"
The other party didn't say anything, but the familiar feeling was enough for her to know who it was.
The scent was also familiar, like someone who accompanied her day and night.
“…No one can doubt me anymore.”
No one...questioned?
"I can't stand living without you anymore, Yue."
These words immediately made Jian Yue's eyes widen: "You don't—don't remember?"
Out of sight, the man with blue eyes sniffed her neck and spoke softly with his thin lips.
"Don't remember? How could that be? The day you taught me to hold an apple in my mouth, I will always remember it in my heart."
"...Who do you think was the one you were with in bed those days?"
"You don't really think that's Henry?"
He buried his head in her neck, just like he did at night, and said in a hoarse voice, "Is that the sound?"
He kissed her hair and then her lips: "Is this how I kiss you?"
He pinched her jaw: "Why don't you smile."
"Smile at me like you did to Theodore, like you did to those people."
"Or, I have no value to you anymore."
"etc……"
He took her hand and touched the scars on his arm: "These are the marks of my missing you."
Jian Yue's eyes were still covered by the cold silk ribbon, and the tip of her nose was filled with the cold cedar scent from Sinderel, mixed with a faint smell of blood.
"He told me to forget, but I didn't want to."
"How could I forget you? I would rather die than forget you."
His voice rang close to her ear, carrying with it a lingering breath. Jian Yue could feel his chest pressed against her back, and every heartbeat could be heard through the thin fabric, dull and powerful, like some ancient drumbeat.
"Do you feel it, Yue?"
She touched the deep and shallow scars, the uneven lines, and the roughness like ancient tree bark.
How could she not feel it?
"I have a lot of roses growing in my garden."
"Ever since I left Whisper and that home, I've started planting."
"I don't know where your home is, how to write your name, or what kind of flowers you like. I can only hold on to hopeless expectations and plant those bunches of roses."
"Five years. I've been waiting for you for five whole years."
"The roses bloomed and fell, but I still couldn't wait for you to come back."
"I hate myself all the time. It was my will that made you leave this world."
"Sometimes I wonder if you've forgotten me and will never come back."
She was embraced and listened to his whispered confession.
"Fortunately, you're back..."
His voice trembled, with a pleading inflection.
"...Even if you use me and deceive me."
"Please, don't leave me again."
"I won't care about what you said anymore."
"Just don't leave me again. Don't leave me alone in this terrible world without you."
Jian Yue's heart trembled for a moment, and somewhere inside her was quietly softening.
"When did you find me?"
"I recognized you the first time we met." Xindrel touched her cheek. "Even if your appearance changes, the way you look at me will not change. And neither will your soul."
"I don't need your protection."
"Then—what about protecting the memories between you and me?"
Jian Yue was speechless.
"Why..." Her voice was dry, "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Tell you what?" His thumb gently brushed her lips, where traces of his kiss still remained. "I wanted to protect you. I don't want to experience that feeling again. And now, he wants to kill you."
"He said you betrayed me again and were going away with Theodore."
He lowered his head and buried his face in her neck for a long time, his voice thick with nasal sounds: "I can bear the curse that Kidd cast on me, but I can't watch you being tortured."
"And now, I don't want to endure it anymore."
"I'm going to kill him, Yue."
"I love you, and I want to cling to you until we decay."
