Chapter 118: Sweet After Bitterness
A week later, the first exam after school started came.
Shen Chutang was not nervous. They had just learned the knowledge for freshman and sophomore years some time ago. She listened carefully in class, so the exam was nothing to her.
I was a little worried about Xie Tong, but I felt relieved after knowing that she had stayed up for two nights to review. Xie Tong likes to cram, or in other words, to prepare before the exam.
After Shen Chutang finished, she handed in the paper, and Xie Tong followed closely behind her. The short holiday would start tomorrow, and both of them wanted to go back quickly.
"It's finally vacation time, Tangtang. Thanks to your notes, I got a lot of knowledge points right." After leaving the teaching building, Xie Tongt began to say happily, "If I had known that studying business administration was so difficult, I would have changed to another one."
"Didn't you dislike these at that time? Why did you want to study this major?" Shen Chutang didn't have any particular major she wanted to study at the time, so she just followed Xie Tong's choice. She didn't expect that she would choose such a major.
Xie Tong: "Well, that's just a concession for freedom."
"That's a good deal."
"Yeah, hey, aren't you going home for the holidays?"
"No, I feel more comfortable alone. I'm so exhausted from studying these past two days. I need to adjust my schedule."
What a good adjustment of work and rest schedule. Shen Chutang smiled and didn't expose her.
Lin Shulang was waiting for her at the door of the dormitory building as usual. When he saw her coming, he got out of the car, bent over and opened the door.
As soon as the car door opened, Shen Chutang saw Shi Chengyu sitting in the back, waving at her with a smile.
"Why are you here?" Shen Chutang's voice was surprised and happy, and he quickly got into the car.
"I'm here to pick up my family." Shi Chengyu smiled faintly and pulled the man over to hug him. "Did you do well on the exam?"
"It went well. Are you still worried about me?" Shen Chutang kissed him on the cheek. "Teacher Shi taught me well."
Shi Chengyu laughed softly, "Tangtang is smart."
"I went back to Lanjiangting today. My uncle and aunt are back."
Shen Chutang leaned on his shoulder, "Okay, I want to eat the food you cook."
"Be good tomorrow. Auntie should have prepared dinner today."
"Okay." Shen Chutang took his hand and smiled sweetly.
"Is that my second brother?" The car slowed down slowly, and Shen Chutang saw a black car parked in front of him, and a man got out of it.
Shi Chengyu also looked forward and said, "It seems so."
Shen Sichen got out of the passenger seat, bent over and said something inside, but the car suddenly drove away. He stood up and scratched his head with a smile on his face.
"It's been a while since I've seen my second brother suffer from depression." Shen Chutang held back his laughter and only pulled Shi Chengyu out of the car after seeing Shen Sichen come in.
Shi Chengyu held her hand tightly to prevent her from running. Her legs were not fully healed yet, and it was good enough for her to be able to walk a few steps. She was still trying to run secretly all day long.
Shen Chutang pouted and retreated obediently, "I'm fine now."
"Brother Chengyu, how about we make a bet on whether the person who just sent my second brother back was a boy or a girl?"
Shi Chengyu pinched her palm and said, "Then I guess it's a boy."
"Girls, girls. I guess it's girls."
As soon as Shen Chutang entered the room, he started looking for Shen Sichen. "Second brother - was the person who just sent you back a boy or a girl?"
Shen Sichen was drinking water. Hearing this, he glanced at her with a smile and said two words lightly, "Boy."
Shen Chutang's smile froze on his face. "Why are you lying?"
She had clearly seen that it was long hair.
Shen Sichen: "Are you betting with Chengyu again? Can you let him win for once?"
Shen Chutang snorted, "I'm going to tell my mother, ah——"
Shen Sichen grabbed her collar and pulled her back, "Stay here and play with Chengyu, don't go to the kitchen and make trouble."
Shen Chutang fell into Shi Chengyu's arms, stared at Shen Sichen's back angrily and waved his fist, then raised his head and looked at Shi Chengyu aggrievedly.
"I remembered wrongly. I guessed it was a girl just now." Shi Chengyu put his arm around her waist and kissed her on the corner of her lips when no one was paying attention. "So Tangtang won."
Shen Chutang smiled again, "Well, then we can call it a draw."
"Well... in that case, you can also make a request to me."
Shi Chengyu smiled and agreed with her, "This opportunity is too precious, I have to keep it for now."
Shen Chutang started laughing. She laughed and made noises, and Shi Chengyu joined her in making noises. The living room was filled with laughter, and it could be heard as far away as in the kitchen.
"Chengyu's laughter can only be heard in front of Tangtang."
As Chen Musheng was wrapping dumplings, he said, "It's finally over after all the hard work."
Shen Sichen glanced towards the living room and said, "He is the only one who makes people lawless."
"It's Chengyu's wish. Oh, by the way, can't you control your temper? Yesterday I heard from your dad that you had a fight with someone again? You are the same age as Chengyu, and he will be married soon, but you are still single."
He looks like the one who spends his time drinking and partying and has lots of girlfriends, but he is the one who has been single the longest among the group.
Chen Musheng never cared about these things before, but gradually the children all found their own partners and families.
"Almost there." These two words were spoken carelessly. Chen Musheng was so shocked that the dumplings he had wrapped fell out of his hands. "What's almost there?"
"When? Are you about to fall in love or get married?"
Shen Sichen sighed, "Not that fast, Mom, I just want you to be assured that I'm not alone."
"That's fine. I feel relieved now. Bring her back when you have time. Don't let her feel wronged. Also, talk to her nicely and be gentle to her."
"Okay, got it."
It was rare that Shen Sichen was not impatient with Chen Musheng's nagging and listened to her quietly.
The short holiday of a few days passed quickly. The night before the holiday ended, Shen Chutang returned to school, but found that Xie Tong was not there. He waited for a while but no one came back.
Shen Chutang called and it rang several times before the call was connected.
"Xie Tong, where have you been?"
"She's sleeping."
It was a male voice. Shen Chutang looked at his phone and it was Xie Tong's number.
"I'm Xie Yi. She's going back to school tomorrow."
Probably because of the silence here, the person on the other end of the phone explained.
Shen Chutang said "oh" and hung up the phone without taking it to heart.
When Xie Tong came back the next morning, he was startled to see Shen Chutang in the living room. He gasped and patted his chest, "Why are you here, Tangtang?"
"Why can't I be here?" Shen Chutang frowned and looked at her, "Why are you feeling guilty?"
"No, no." Xie Tong opened the refrigerator and took out a bottle of water. "I don't feel guilty at all."
"You are the best." Shen Chutang said word by word.
"Oh, by the way, the results are out. Did you see it?" Xie Tong laughed and changed the subject.
"I saw it. Congratulations on your second place in the major."
Xie Tong smiled and sat over, "Congratulations to you for getting first place."
