Chapter 45 Sickness
Shi Chengyu was going to Haishi to attend a meeting in the afternoon. Before leaving, he came to Shen's house, but Shen Chutang's door was locked and no one was there. When she heard that it was Shi Chengyu, she locked the door from the inside.
He stood outside the door for half an hour until he had to leave, repeatedly asking the servant to take good care of her.
The next morning, Shen Sujing came to call Shen Chutang for breakfast. He knocked on the door and called inside, "Tangtang, Tangtang, get up and eat something before going to sleep."
There was no movement inside. Shen Sujing twisted the door handle twice but couldn't open it. Realizing that something was wrong, he quickly asked someone to bring him a spare key.
Shen Sujing opened the door with the key and rushed in quickly. Shen Chutang was lying on the bed without a quilt covering him. He was curled up into a ball with red cheeks.
"Tangtang!"
Shen Sujing rushed to the bedside and picked her up. He touched her forehead with his hand, feeling extremely hot. He was shocked and said, "Uncle Wen! Go call the doctor and come over."
"Tangtang, Tangtang?" Shen Sujing called her anxiously, and asked the nanny to bring alcohol to wipe her palms and limbs.
He was already delirious from the fever, unable to speak, and just clutched Shen Sujing's clothes, shedding tears.
Shen Sujing quickly called Shen Sichen again. He had never taken care of a sick Shen Chutang and had no experience, so he could only comfort her first.
The doctor arrived before Shen Sichen, but Shen Chutang was very stubborn when he was sick. He was too weak to speak, but he was still making a fuss. He refused to take medicine and didn't allow anyone to give him an injection. He made a fuss for an hour before he drank a glass of warm water.
Shen Sichen felt distressed and overwhelmed, so he asked Wei Chuan to find a doctor to send an atomizer over.
Early in the morning, caught up in the morning rush hour traffic jam, Shen Sujing's assistant Zhou Yang had already urged several times in the group, and several people became extremely anxious.
Lin Shulang saw the message in the group and asked quickly: Who is sick? Miss Shen? Is it serious?
Shen Yanheng's secretary also followed closely and asked.
There is still half an hour left before the meeting starts. On one side is the Shi family's annual high-level meeting, and on the other side is Shen Chutang.
Lin Shulang hesitated for only a moment and knocked on Shi Chengyu's door. "Mr. Shi, Miss Shen seems to have a fever."
Shi Chengyu immediately put down the pen in his hand, took out his mobile phone to call Shen Chutang, but the call was not connected. He then took the phone from Lin Shulang and called Shen Sichen.
It took a long time for the call to be connected. After all the trouble, Shen Chutang became more energetic and had the strength to resist. He had already knocked over two cups of antipyretic medicine.
When the call came, Shen Sichen looked at the broken glass on the ground and was furious. "If it doesn't work, let them give him anesthesia and then an injection! If you keep going like this, you're going to get burned to death!"
Shi Chengyu's heart tightened instantly, "Second brother, how is Tangtang?"
"Chengyu?" Shen Sichen fiddled with his hair. "Don't you have a meeting? Go ahead and do your thing. There's nothing to do here."
"Second brother, give the phone to Tangtang."
Shen Sichen turned on the speakerphone and passed the phone to him. But when Shen Chutang heard Shi Chengyu's voice, he immediately slapped the phone away and said, "No, don't do it, Shi Chengyu."
A hoarse and faint voice came from the other end of the phone, followed by a few beeps.
Shi Chengyu stared at his phone for a moment, then whispered, "Go back."
"Okay." Lin Shulan responded without hesitation. The private jet route must be applied for four hours in advance, but Shi Chengyu obviously couldn't wait four hours now.
He bought a ticket for the nearest flight and drove the car directly into the airport driveway and stopped next to the aircraft's gangway. The flight attendant came down to greet him. Shi Chengyu walked very quickly, leaving everyone behind.
The message he had just sent seemed to have fallen on deaf ears. Shi Chengyu sat in his seat, his folded hands shaking. The flight of more than two hours was too long for him. Every minute and every second was torture.
The plane landed and the driver who had been arranged in advance was waiting below. As soon as Shi Chengyu got in the car, he drove out of the airport.
Shen Sichen received another call from Shi Chengyu. He thought he was calling to ask about something after a meeting, but he didn't expect him to say that he would be back soon and asked about Shen Chutang.
Shen Sichen sighed, "No, he's very stubborn. He won't listen to anyone. He won't take medicine, get injections, or even use a nebulizer."
"Second brother, don't force her. I'll be there soon."
Shen Sichen thought that he would say it very quickly and it would take at least three hours, but he didn't expect that in less than twenty minutes, Shi Chengyu's car stopped at the gate of the villa.
Before the car stopped, he opened the door and got out.
In Shen Chutang's room, a group of doctors stood around the bed. She sat on the corner of the bed, hugged herself and curled up into a ball. She cried weakly, and no one could do anything to her.
Shi Chengyu walked through the crowd, went to the bed and held the person in his arms. Shen Chutang smelled a familiar scent and subconsciously rubbed against him, but the next moment she seemed to remember something and began to struggle and cry even harder.
Shi Chengyu held the person tightly in his arms and took the thermometer beside him to measure the temperature. "Tangtang, be good. It's okay."
The temperature was so high that one could feel it without even measuring it. Shi Chengyu wiped the sweat from her forehead and tucked her hair behind her ears. She cried in his arms, her shoulders twitching and her eyes bloodshot. He was so heartbroken that he couldn't speak.
After a whole morning of hard work, Shen Chutang only drank a glass of warm water and a few sips of medicine, and he hasn't eaten much since yesterday.
Since she couldn't take the medicine, Shen Sichen asked someone to send her some food first, which was tomato and egg on top of the rice. This was the only thing she could eat when she was sick.
Shi Chengyu took the spoon and passed it to her mouth, coaxing her softly, "Tangtang, be good, eat a bite, and you won't feel uncomfortable after eating a bite."
It took Shen Chutang a long time to react before he slowly opened his mouth and ate in small bites.
Shen Sichen and Shen Sujing were watching in amazement. Shi Chengyu had been here for less than half an hour, and he had already been comforted and fed.
They had to admit that no one was better than Shi Chengyu at taking care of Shen Chutang.
"Okay, you're so good. Tangtang, have another bite, just a small bite." After feeding Shen Chutang half a bowl of rice, he refused to eat any more.
Shi Chengyu put down the spoon and was about to get some water for her to drink, but the next second Shen Chutang suddenly bent over and lay on the edge of the bed, vomiting out everything she had just eaten.
I didn't eat much to begin with, and after vomiting for a while I couldn't vomit anything out, and I was vomiting sour water.
Shi Chengyu quickly patted her back. Shen Chutang seemed to have fainted, with her hands hanging down. Shi Chengyu lifted her up and held her in his arms. Looking at her exhausted eyes, his heart seemed to be stabbed. He wiped her face with a towel and took the cup of water from the servant. His voice was choked with sobs, "Tangtang, be good, drink some water."
Shen Chutang shook his head weakly, his voice hoarse and weak, "No, this is medicine..."
"No, Tangtang, listen to me. Just take a bite."
Shen Chutang was stunned, took a sip, and Shi Chengyu took the opportunity to feed him a big mouthful. Being sick, everything tasted bitter in his mouth, Shen Chutang refused to drink any more, and fell limply into Shi Chengyu's arms.
