Chapter 115 Zombie Siege (8) - School Massacre

Chapter 115 Zombie Siege (8) - School Massacre

Because the communication base stations were still operational at the time, they used their mobile phones for navigation to get to the primary school.

When they got off the bus and saw the scene on the playground through the iron fence, they were stunned.

The playground was littered with corpses, almost all of them dressed in the same clothes. Occasionally, some were dressed in other clothes, probably teachers or something similar.

The scene was eerily quiet. Ning Shu glanced at it once and then didn't dare to look anymore. But even from that brief glance, she sensed that something was wrong.

She felt that the corpses had an eerie pale complexion. Today was only the second day of the zombie outbreak, and she wasn't sure if this skin color was normal.

She still shifted her gaze back and looked again. She couldn't see those with their backs to her clearly, but she could see those facing her clearly.

They were not only pale-skinned, but also had ferocious expressions. This ferocity was not the kind of ferocity one feels when ordinary people are killed out of fear, but rather a ferocity like that of wild beasts.

Moreover, they had obvious black blood vessels on their faces, much like the appearance of zombies.

Were all those lying there zombies? Ning Shu wasn't sure, so she shared her thoughts with Cheng Chuan, who then decided to go in and take a look.

Ning Shu didn't dare go in; she stayed outside.

Wu Yi didn't want to go in either, but Cheng Chuan felt that it wouldn't do for a grown man to be so timid, so he dragged him inside.

Just before Wu Yi was dragged inside, he thought to himself, "Why is it always him who gets hurt?"

He was forced to look at many corpses of various colors, and then he had to give his opinion: "They should all be zombies, the blood that flowed out was a bit blackish."

Cheng Chuan made the same discovery. Ning Shu had a feeling she couldn't quite put her finger on. Maybe she was just overthinking it. The absence of ordinary people was a good thing, as it meant they had all escaped.

Having found nothing, they continued on their journey, searching for the next school, following the principle of proximity, regardless of whether it was a middle school, primary school, or even kindergarten.

Why are we so determined to save students? Because students are easy to manage, and they generally obey adults' discipline, making them the least likely group to cause problems.

Ning Shu and his group still wanted to prioritize rescuing them. The journey was not peaceful, as they would encounter zombies and NPCs asking for help.

Encountering zombies is easy to deal with, it's a good time to complete quest 2, but encountering NPCs is a problem.

They could only tell them to go find other people elsewhere, saying they had a mission to complete.

The NPCs were naturally not going to let it go, but the three of them were no pushovers either. After giving the other side a lesson, those people left obediently.

They went to three schools in a row, and the situation was the same as the first school.

This situation was so bizarre that even the usually oblivious Wu Yi sensed something was wrong.

"Brother Chuan, Sister Ning, this... this can't be a coincidence, right? Has something happened that we don't know about?" Wu Yi was very worried that there might be other hidden quests in this instance.

He felt that he could handle carrying a mummy in a dungeon, but carrying a zombie was something he really couldn't handle.

Cheng Chuan: "I don't know, let's keep going."

Ning Shu marked places like supermarkets and convenience stores on the map when she saw them in the car. When she saw a hardware store, she asked Cheng Chuan to stop.

Ning Shu called Fang Hong and asked his driver to bring a truck over to take away the hardware store's items, which they estimated they would need later.

She sent Fang Hong her location, told Wu Yi to stay there and wait, and she and Cheng Chuan continued on their way.

Their goal was still the school; they thought that if all else failed, they could go to university, where there would be students who could survive.

However, they were stopped halfway there. Cheng Chuan originally wanted to just walk around them, but when he saw that they seemed to be wearing school uniforms, he stopped the car and asked them.

"Are you students?" Cheng Chuan asked, opening the window a crack.

Two male students stepped forward: "Yes, we are students from No. 5 Middle School."

They turned out to be middle school students.

One of the male students spoke up: "Brothers and sisters, save us! Someone wants to kill us."

Upon hearing this, both Cheng Chuan and Ning Shu couldn't help but frown.

Cheng Chuan: "What's going on?"

One of the male students looked around and explained:

“Yesterday someone broke into our school, let in a few crazy people who can bite, and then locked us up in the school.”

Let those madmen bite us, and then they'll kill the madmen.

At this point, the other person became somewhat agitated: "A few of my classmates and I saw it from upstairs, so we hid."

They killed almost all the madmen before leaving, and we sneaked away.

As the male student spoke, he began to wipe away tears:

“My classmates and teachers are all dead. We want to go home, but we can’t contact our families.”

There were too many lunatics along the way; we couldn't fight them, and we were afraid of running into those few people, so we hid.

Upon hearing this, Ning Shu and Cheng Chuan's first thought was the word "player".

It's likely that some unscrupulous players deliberately released zombies into densely populated areas before hunting them down in order to complete Mission 2.

Schools are their preferred locations because they are densely populated, and the students, once turned into zombies, are not yet very strong in combat, allowing them to kill two birds with one stone.

This explains why the school they went to before was in that situation. It was such a disgusting thing to do. Ning Shu and Cheng Chuan were both furious.

If they encounter these players, they'll have to teach them a lesson for what they've done.

Perhaps because their silence lasted too long, the male student thought they were unwilling, and another male student chimed in:

"Brother and sister, could you take us home? Our home isn't far from here."

Cheng Chuan snapped out of his daze, glanced at their clothes—there was no blood, but they were filthy, probably from rubbing against the ground while they were hiding—and asked first, "How many of you are there?"

Male student: "There are 6 of us here. When we escaped yesterday, we encountered students from other schools. They were hiding in another place, where there were more than 40 people."

Cheng Chuan felt that this was like finding a needle in a haystack, and then getting it without any effort at all.

He started acting, pretending to be in a difficult position: "We are outnumbered and can't send you all home one by one, but we have set up a survival zone around here."

Why don't you go over there and stay there for now? We might run into your parents during the search and rescue operation, and then we can bring them over together.

The two boys' eyes lit up, and they agreed without hesitation.

Ning Shu looked at the two simple-minded boys with a worried expression: They really believe anyone they meet. Aren't they afraid that they'll end up like those heartless players and stew them all together?

Cheng Chuan didn't let them get in the car; instead, he got out himself and let Ning Shu drive the SUV.

He asked the two boys to call the others out, while he walked toward a bus parked on the side of the road.
