Chapter 22 Adversity Game - Panel Functions

Chapter 22 Adversity Game - Panel Functions

Ning Shu also had questions about the numbers next to the props that were noticeably smaller, but there was no explanation in the "More" section.

She decided to stop worrying about it for now, thinking she might find out what those numbers meant later.

She scrolled through the other information displayed on the panel and found that there were quite a lot of items in the "Shop".

There are several main categories, namely food, medicine, and daily necessities, but most of them are gray, and a small portion are colored.

She glanced at the colored items and saw that they could all be purchased for 10 points or less.

Ning Shu suddenly realized.

She swiped again and discovered there was another feature called "Tieba" (forum), which was even stranger. Not only were the titles grayed out, but the text was also pixelated and illegible.

She tried to click, but was told she didn't have permission to view the post.

She could only click on titles that weren't grayed out, and when she did, she found that they were all comments or question posts from newcomers, but some of the text was pixelated.

Does this place also emphasize a harmonious society? And it even has a sensitive word blocking function?

This game is ridiculous; it doesn't blur out what should be pixelated, and it doesn't get the point.

Ning Shu complained, then scrolled through the panel a few more times and found there wasn't much left to explore. The main issue was that there was only so much she could explore, so she closed the panel.

As soon as the panel closed, everything went black. When her vision cleared again, she saw that Cheng Chuan and Wu Yi had appeared.

They had returned to normal, and Ning Shu immediately began discussing the game and the control panel with them.

Cheng Chuan: "This place is actually a game? They went to all that trouble to capture us just to play a game?"

Wu Yi: "But this game is dangerous; people can die."

Ning Shu nodded in agreement. From another perspective, if it weren't so dangerous, there would be no need to arrest people.

She thought of a question: "The settings of this game don't feel like the real world. Do you think we might have our brains controlled and our consciousness taken to the virtual space?"

That's not impossible, after all, the world they live in isn't that bizarre and fantastical.

Actually, the real world is more advantageous for them. If they could leave this game, then the world they live in would be safe.

The first thing Cheng Chuan wanted to do after leaving was to report the game's developers. He had to, absolutely had to! That was Cheng Chuan's thought.

Wu Yi: "This is so cool! In a virtual world, do we not actually die, and like in other games, if we die we just restart?"

How did this idiot survive until now? Ning Shu was speechless.

Cheng Chuan: "Whether you really die or not, you'll know once you try it."

That makes sense! Ning Shu seconded it.

Wu Yi: "Brother Chuan, you have no heart!"

The muscular man's accusation gave Ning Shu goosebumps.

Ning Shu: "Stop getting off-topic. Did the system let you choose items? What did you choose?"

Cheng Chuan: "Hook".

Martial Arts: "Rope."

Ning Shu asked Cheng Chuan curiously, "Why did you choose a rusty hook? What's it for?"

Cheng Chuan: "I hadn't thought about it; I just felt that it wouldn't take up much space."

Now that you mention it, the rope does take up a lot of space and is inconvenient to carry. Wu Yi felt frustrated.

Ning Shu: "Have you discovered any special functions of these props?"

“We haven’t found anything yet. Maybe it will only show up under special circumstances.” Cheng Chuan then turned to Wu Yi. “Your rope can be used to hang yourself or hang someone else.”

Wu Yi was hurt again: "Thank you."

Ning Shu: "Have you all figured out how to use that panel? I wonder if it can add friends or create a group, so we can keep in touch if we get separated."

After all, there are no cell phones here.

Cheng Chuan: "It seems there's a place with a function to add friends, let me check."

Bringing up the panel is very simple; just make a gesture specified by the game, and you don't need to make any sound.

He quickly found the relevant function, and the three of them added each other as friends and created a three-person group.

Ning Shu: "I noticed that I can't see other people's panels. You were just gesturing in the air for a while, and I could see you making gestures in the air."

Cheng Chuan: "That's normal. Games have mechanisms to protect players." It seems there are some conscientious games, but not many.

Through conversation, Ning Shu learned that Cheng Chuan's innate skill was "Sandstorm Transformation," which, as the name suggests, means he can transform into a sandstorm.

The other party remained silent about the side effects, saying it was inconvenient to disclose them, which made Ning Shu and Wu Yi very curious.

Wu Yi's innate skill is "Stone Incarnation," which simply means he can turn into a stone man.

The side effect is that after using it, the body will feel numb. Wu Yi described it as the feeling of being bitten by ants after squatting in the toilet for a long time.

It was a very vivid description, and Ning Shu and Cheng Chuan immediately felt the same way.

But when it was Ning Shu's turn to talk about the side effects, she adopted Cheng Chuan's explanation, and Wu Yi immediately felt that he was the biggest victim of injustice.

Looking around, Wu Yi asked, "What do we do now? Which way should we go?"

The three of them looked around and saw that they were surrounded by dense forest. People who live in big cities and are used to relying on navigation would not know where to go.

I used to ask my mom whenever I encountered a problem, but now I don't even know where to ask her.

Ning Shu thought for a moment: "I wonder if there's any way to find it in the forum for that panel?"

Even if we don't have it, maybe we can post a question and ask others?

Some resources can be made good use of.

Cheng Chuan: "It's possible that some people might have malicious intentions. We can take a look, but it's better not to post a question online. We can't wait that long, and we can't rule out that some people might have bad intentions."

Ning Shu felt it was really difficult, so they still searched for keywords on Tieba.

Indeed, quite a few posts have appeared, but the answers are varied. Some people give very insightful explanations, while others are just joining in the fun.

Summary: Helpful, but not much.

They chose a seemingly reliable answer and followed its instructions to find a way out, but they walked from daytime until sunset and still hadn't found the exit.

Wu Yi: "Will this method even work? I'm so tired and hungry."

Cheng Chuan: "Let's go to the mall to buy some food. Let's sit down and rest first."

During a break, Ning Shu discovered that the cheapest food package cost 2 points, so... after going through such a ridiculous dungeon, it would be gone after just 5 meals?

You need to eat three meals a day, but you only have less than two days to live. This is simply not giving people a way to survive.

But something seems off. What is it?

Suddenly, an idea flashed through her mind, but she wasn't sure, so she asked:

Have you noticed that we feel hungry for longer periods of time?

The time between waking up in the red brick factory and leaving was at least several hours.

We walked for several more hours here; that adds up to more than a normal amount of time to get a full meal.

Cheng Chuan: "...When you put it that way, it seems to be true."

Wu Yi: "I was just complaining that the game's reward points weren't enough to buy two days' worth of food. I was wrong about it."

So they really don't need to eat three meals a day anymore? Maybe two meals or even just one is enough?
