Chapter 303 Magic Academy (6) - Practicing Defensive Magic

Chapter 303 Magic Academy (6) - Practicing Defensive Magic

There's a reason this dungeon quest is difficult; they're keeping things hidden.

If players need basic magic skills to complete the final graduation quest, then the academy's secrets will be a stumbling block on their path to success.

Ning Shu had no idea that the intensity of her studies in the dungeon was comparable to that of the college entrance examination.

After finishing her morning classes, Ning Shu found a secluded spot at noon and took out the textbook Si Zhong had given her.

She flipped through the textbook from beginning to end and counted the number of spells she needed to learn; there were 11 spells in total.

There are 4 defensive spells, 4 offensive spells, and the remaining 3 are death spells.

Si Zhong made a note next to the Death Curse, instructing her that she could only recite the incantation and not practice it on her own, because the price would be very high.

She was also made to start learning defensive spells first, and then death spells last, with the learning order thoughtfully marked.

Looking at Si Zhong's notes, Ning Shu felt that he was more like her father, both worried that she wouldn't be able to learn them and worried that she would learn them incorrectly.

It has to be said that Fengyuan's incantation is even harder to learn, so hard to pronounce!

She couldn't even imagine the expression on Si Zhong's face when he read those words; when she read them, she felt like she was mentally challenged.

The first spell she learned was called the "Armor Protection Spell." The first line of the spell was pronounced as follows: "Puyaroutegou, Dongtelaitimibiwailetaide."

The sentences are meaningless, the words are unrelated, and I don't even know how to break them down into segments to remember them.

Ning Shu was completely bewildered by the first incantation. It was even more nonsensical than the incantations from Eagle Academy. She forced herself to memorize it.

After she could pronounce it smoothly, she started adding phonetic symbols to the spells to help her remember them.

After studying and memorizing day and night, the third day of Si Zhong's inspection finally arrived, which happened to be a rest day.

When Si Zhong saw Ning Shu, he noticed that she had huge dark circles under her eyes, making her look like a panda.

He couldn't help but burst out laughing: "You, hahaha—"

Ning Shu was extremely gloomy when she saw Si Zhong laughing so heartily for the first time.

He was so happy, he had no idea how she had managed these past two days!

Upon noticing Ning Shu glaring at him, Si Zhong quickly suppressed his smile and coughed lightly, "I can see you've been working very hard."

Ning Shu wasn't buying it and kept glaring at him, so Si Zhong quickly changed the subject: "Let's check your homework. First, memorize the 'Disarming Spell'."

Ning Shu didn't move, and Si Zhong poked her puffed-up cheek: "Okay, okay, I was wrong. I shouldn't have laughed at you. You worked so hard, you deserve praise."

After saying that, he pulled Ning Shu to sit on the tree root protruding from the soil and coaxed her in a low voice:

"Come on, memorize this first. We still have a lot to learn today, so let's not waste time."

Ning Shu then began to recite, since almost a third of the dungeon time had already passed, and she really needed to hurry.

It must be said that Ning Shu's efforts paid off; although she wasn't very familiar with them, she still managed to memorize the incantations.

Si Zhong was very satisfied: "Go back and continue to practice more. Next, I will teach you how to use these spells, including some precautions for using them."

Ning Shu asked, "Does it have to be said aloud when launching an attack?"

Si Zhong: "You can silently recite the long incantation in front of you."

The last few keywords must be read aloud, as they seem to determine the strength of the magic.

For example, if you use the 'Armor Protection Charm,' you must clearly pronounce the four words 'Armor Protection' at the end.

Ning Shu: "This seems like I'm telling everyone what I'm going to do. Won't I die from talking too much?"

Si Zhong: "You can think of it as a rule that applies to everyone. When someone reads it, we know what they want to do."

Ning Shu began practicing with Si Zhong, starting with defensive magic.

She was amazed that Si Zhong had mastered magic so well in such a short time, and she really envied his learning ability.

After practicing all morning, Ning Shu found herself very tired, and Si Zhong noticed this as well:

"That's enough for this morning. Let's go eat first and continue this afternoon."

Ning Shu asked in confusion, "Is every practice session this tiring?"

Si Zhong: "It's mainly because your magic power isn't strong enough, and you're not skilled enough in using it."

"When you chanted the spell, your magic power was almost fully charged, but you didn't unleash it, thus dissipating the accumulated power and wasting it all."

Ning Shu understood; that's the logic.

Si Zhong put his arm around her shoulder: "Let's go eat."

She was probably too tired. After sitting down, she didn't want to move anymore and asked Si Zhong to get her something to eat, since Si Zhong knew what she liked to eat anyway.

Actually, there weren't many foods in the cafeteria that Ning Shu would be satisfied with. She didn't like hard bread, so Si Zhong usually gave her pasta and mushroom soup.

Ning Shu almost fell asleep while eating. Si Zhong glanced at her and thought that the morning training intensity might be too high and needed to be changed.

After finishing the meal, he carried the person back to the dormitory, and the people who watched them along the way had gossipy looks in their eyes.

Si Zhong ignored him, put him on the bed, and covered him with a blanket.

The other girls in the dormitory asked with concern what was wrong. Si Zhong explained briefly and then prepared to leave.

Suddenly, he turned around and found a notebook and a pen on Ning Shu's bedside table, tearing out a blank page.

He wrote two sentences on it, placed it on Ning Shu's bedside table, and then left.

Laura and the others, full of curiosity, went up to see what was written.

Although they respect the concept of privacy, they will not be polite when the content is displayed without fear of others seeing it.

The note said they had no plans for the afternoon and that Ning Shu should practice reciting on her own after waking up, but was not allowed to practice.

That's it?

The group was rather disappointed, having expected to see some sensational news.

Lola and Wright both felt that the couple was too diligent; when they were together, they only talked about studying, which was boring.

When Ning Shu woke up, she found that it was 5 p.m.

She actually wasted an entire afternoon!

This is absolutely unforgivable!

She saw the note Si Zhong had left for her, and quickly found a secluded spot to contact him using the two-way mirror.

"You're awake? How are you feeling?"

Ning Shu: "No problem. We're not practicing this afternoon? How about continuing tonight?"

There was a long silence on Si Zhong's end before he spoke:

"Your body can't handle this level of training. I'll adjust things for you. That's all for today's practical session."

You will memorize incantations and practice some Eagle School magic to learn how to control your magic effectively.

It has reached the point where it either doesn't act at all, or when it does, it's guaranteed to succeed.

Okay, so they think she's not skilled enough? Fine, she can practice.

Ning Shu was a little worried about not being able to complete the mission: "Shouldn't we reconsider the mission? Just practicing magic won't do."
