Chapter 306 Magic Academy (9) - Encountering a Magical Beast

Chapter 306 Magic Academy (9) - Encountering a Magical Beast

The task announcement was a very old-fashioned one, and Ning Shu saw through it at a glance.

The principal probably had a headache or something similar, which is why he wanted this Anga grass.

Ning Shu tore off this page and hid it.

She was just wondering how to get close to the principal when this solution came to her.

Ning Shu adjusted his glasses: "Lord Ping, since you've already given me the hint, why don't you just tell me where to find this herb?"

Lord Ping remained aloof as always, offering no response whatsoever, prompting Ning Shu to sigh.

He is missing, the props are aloof, and she is confused.

As soon as Ning Shu stepped out of the library, she saw a huge exclamation mark floating in the sky in the distance.

That, that, that—that was a hint given by Lord Ping!

Ning Shu was very excited. This prop was quite reliable. Although his mood was gloomy and uncertain, it would really come in handy when needed!

She planned to go find the plant, but since she couldn't miss class without a reason, she pretended to be unwell and asked the teacher for leave.

Following the hint given by Lord Ping, she used the "Flight Spell" and rode her broomstick after the huge exclamation mark.

The exclamation mark wasn't far; it only took her six hours to fly there.

But when she got close to the cliff, she could only walk, because magical flight seemed to be forbidden there.

After Ning Shu landed, she tried to use magic and found that it was usable, but it required a lot of effort.

This place consumes a lot of magic, so Ning Shu decided to avoid using magic as much as possible.

She walked towards the location of the exclamation mark, and when she reached the bottom of the cliff, she activated her skill and climbed directly up the cliff face.

When she reached the top, she quietly stuck half her head out to observe the situation above.

Sure enough, there were many Anga grasses on the cliff, but a huge monster was sleeping next to those grasses.

The monster looked very strange. It had the head of a wolf, but a pair of bull horns, a body like a dog, and a tail like a gecko's.

It is sleeping soundly right now.

Ning Shu didn't know how long it had been asleep, or when it would wake up, so she quickly took out her magic wand from her spatial storage.

But this made her movements very strange; she was clinging to the ground with both hands, one of which was holding a small stick.

She looked down, trying to find a rock protruding from the cliff face to step on for support and save energy.

But as soon as she found a foothold, she looked up and was terrified—there was an enlarged monster face in front of her.

The monster that was just sleeping was now staring intently at her, seemingly curious about what she was doing.

Ning Shu's forehead was sweating. If she explained that she was just passing by, would the other person understand?

After the monster saw her freeze, it suddenly roared at her, its gaping maw aimed directly at Ning Shu, and a stench assaulted her nostrils.

It stinks!

How long has it been since it brushed its teeth?!

Ning Shu almost couldn't hold onto the cliff, and silently chanted the "Petrify All" spell in his mind.

As she finished reciting the last line, she raised her magic wand with her right hand, pointed at the monster, and said, "Pattrificus, Toutalus."

The monster froze on the spot, remaining in the same position.

Ning Shu quickly climbed up and ran towards the location of Anjia grass.

As soon as he arrived, before his hand even touched the grass, he felt a strong gust of wind behind him. He quickly pulled his hand back and rolled to the side twice.

Looking up, she realized that the monster had broken free of the petrification spell and returned to attack her; luckily, she dodged quickly.

That was close!

The monster charged at her, attempting to gore her with its horns, but Ning Shu immediately cast the "Armor Protection Spell".

Although Ning Shu managed to protect her vital organs, she was still thrown back by the force of the impact. If it weren't for the magic protecting her, her internal organs would probably be ruptured by now.

Is this dungeon really that dangerous? Ning Shu almost couldn't catch his breath.

Seeing that the monster was about to launch a second burst of speed, she quickly rolled down the edge of the cliff.

The monster thought she had fallen, but in reality, she was still clinging to the cliff face with both hands.

Ning Shu quickly descended the cliff, fearing that the magical beasts would catch up, but along the way she found that the magical beasts did not follow.

The monster simply poked its head out and looked down the cliff. After discovering that she had escaped, it exhaled twice, turned around, and returned to the vicinity of the Anga grass, where it lay down to sleep again.

Ning Shu only realized a big problem after landing: in her haste to "roll" down, she had lost her magic wand.

There's no way around it; who has time to worry about a stick in a critical moment? It's absurd that this magic requires a stick to be performed.

At this moment, she dared not go up to look for him, otherwise she might not come back alive.

After thinking it over, she realized it was just a stick; if she lost it, so be it. She could just ask the teacher for it again when she got back. Now she needed to figure out how to get the Anga grass.

The monster was very alert; she didn't even know how she had been discovered, as the two-way mirror on her body emitted a sound.

Ning Shu responded, "So it was Si Zhong."

Si Zhong: "What's wrong? You look so listless."

Ning Shu: "Weren't you busy? How come you have time to look for me?"

Si Zhong: "I have nothing to do right now, so I just want to hear you talk."

Ning Shu remained silent for a while. Si Zhong seemed to sense that she was in a bad mood and asked again, "What's wrong?"

Ning Shu sighed, "I wanted to pick a medicinal herb, but there's a magical beast guarding it. I just fought it and lost my magic wand. I'm worried about what to do."

Si Zhong laughed and said, "What's so difficult about that? Your skills are so powerful, you can shatter your opponent into eight pieces, can't you?"

Ning Shu asked in confusion, "Didn't you say you were going to use magic to deal with it?"

Si Zhong laughed loudly: "I just said you had to use magic to complete your graduation task, but you even managed to lose your magic wand. It seems your academic performance isn't very good."

When he got to the second half of the sentence, Si Zhong's tone became noticeably serious.

Ning Shu regretted her loose tongue, forgetting that Si Zhong was now her mentor and had very high expectations of her.

Si Zhong touched the scabbard of his short sword: "Here, the magic wand is equivalent to a soldier's sword."

"How could you lose that? It's no different from handing over your life!"

Ning Shu: "I know, I know, all you ever do is nag me. I'm hanging up."

Si Zhong was surprised that Ning Shu had suddenly died and was confused. When he called her again, Ning Shu did not respond.

He couldn't understand why she seemed angry when he was just telling the truth. It was a matter of life and death for her, and he had to take it seriously.

Si Zhong is a complete idiot! You dog of a man, if you can't speak properly, just shut up!

Ning Shu angrily threw the two-way mirror on the ground and stomped on it twice... but in the end, she picked it up and put it back on her person.

She's already lost a magic wand; she can't lose the two-way mirror too, or the teacher will probably kill her.

However, Si Zhong is right about one thing: picking herbs is not part of the quest; it's just an aid to completing the quest, and the method of obtaining them is not important.

After thinking it through, Ning Shu decided to rest for a while before going up to fight the monsters again.

She wished the monsters could understand human speech so she could just threaten them, and if that didn't work, she could kill them.

She's a good person; she'll try to be polite first, then resort to force!
