Chapter 316 Magic Academy (19) - Side Quest

Ning Shu: "..."

If you can't speak properly, then shut up!

Although Si Zhong questioned her prophetic abilities, he still accompanied her on the trip.

The red question mark is located near the Tatar Mountains, in a small cave.

The cave was so small that only Ning Shu could enter, and even then, she had to crawl on the ground to get in.

Looking at the cave, Si Zhong said to Ning Shu, "Are you sure you want to go in through this dog hole?"

A dog hole?

Ning Shu initially thought the cave was small, but not quite a dog hole. However, after hearing Si Zhong's description, she felt more and more that it really did resemble a dog hole.

She didn't have any particular sense of pride and didn't mind this kind of thing, but Si Zhong clearly didn't want to go in.

"You don't need to go in, I'll go in and take a look," Ning Shu said, directly helping Si Zhong out of the predicament.

Si Zhong was unmoved and did not approve of Ning Shu going in: "This dog hole is too small. If you go in alone and something happens, I won't be able to save you. Maybe you shouldn't go in either."

The hint given by Lord Keping, indicated by the question mark, meant that she had to go into this cave; otherwise, she would miss something.

Ning Shu insisted, "It's okay, I'll be careful."

Si Zhong thought for a moment, then removed the ear cartilage stud from Ning Shu's ear and intended to put it on her.

Ning Shu turned her head away and dodged: "What are you doing? I don't have pierced ears."

Si Zhong turned her head back to the right side: "There's no need to drill a hole, don't move."

Ning Shu really didn't move.

Si Zhong clipped the ear cartilage pin onto her earlobe, and Ning Shu then realized that the "ear cartilage pin" was actually not a nail, but a clip.

She misunderstood; that thing was always an ear cartilage clip, not an ear cartilage stud.

She really didn't expect Si Zhong to give her this thing, after all, it was one of Si Zhong's more powerful tools.

She even used this thing to detect the poison she had given him before, and this time Si Zhong didn't suspect her at all.

Ning Shu was actually a little touched, but when she thought about the premise that Si Zhong gave her this thing, which was that he thought she had lost her memory, her feelings of gratitude vanished instantly.

After Si Zhong put the food in her bowl, he said, "I can't persuade you to go in if you insist on it. Be careful."

Ning Shu pretended not to know the purpose of the ear cartilage clip and asked, "Why are you giving me this?"

Si Zhong chuckled: "It's just a prop to protect you."

Ning Shu looked like she had just realized something, an expression that made Si Zhong laugh.

He patted her head: "Go inside. If anything happens, just shout, and I'll blow this hole open to rescue you."

Why not blow it up now? It's because we're worried that making too much noise will attract the demonic dragon and the Holy Light soldiers.

Ning Shu is confident that he can handle most of the dangers himself.

The cave was indeed very narrow. Ning Shu felt that it would be difficult for him to go in alone, and his limbs were scratched and injured by the stone walls.

Because of her injury, Ning Shu's resolve to give up hardened once again. She couldn't accept going back empty-handed after bleeding.

She would be ridiculed by Si Zhong for this, how could she bear it?

Despite the pain in her limbs, she continued crawling forward, and slowly she discovered that the cave was gradually widening.

She climbed quite deep, probably taking more than half an hour, but still hadn't reached the end.

As they crawled, the two-way mirrors on their bodies started to react.

After the cave opened up, she could move her hands freely, so she reached out and groped her body, finally pulling out a two-way mirror and hearing Si Zhong's voice.

"Why did it take so long? Are you alright?"

Ning Shu glanced ahead: "It's alright, it's just not the end yet, I have to keep climbing in."

Si Zhong frowned: "Did you receive a side quest? Why do you insist on going in?"

Ning Shu thought for a moment and confirmed the other person's question: "Yes."

Si Zhong didn't say anything more: "Just let me know you're safe every now and then."

Ning Shu: "Okay."

After she died, she continued climbing forward, and after about half an hour, she finally saw the end of the cave.

Inside, there was a very large cave, but there were no gold or silver treasures inside, only—a tree?

The question mark given by Lord Ping has disappeared, so it seems this is the place she's looking for.

But what is she looking for? It can't be that tree, can it? Does she have to carry the tree away?

Ning Shu approached the tree and finally discovered a spot that was glowing directly beneath it, but the glowing area was completely covered by vines.

The glasses provided a clue—"Starry Magic Wand".

A magic wand? Where?

Ning Shu's first thought was where the thing was. She guessed it should be in the area covered by vines, because that was the only place that emitted light.

Just as she was about to approach the vines, she discovered that the drooping vines were actually moving and were swinging towards her.

Ning Shu immediately activated her skill, shattering the vines that were rushing towards her.

A shower of vines fell everywhere.

Ning Shu glanced at the vines that had fallen to the ground and, finding no movement, felt relieved.

She was about to continue looking at the glowing vine ball when she suddenly stopped, worried that she might accidentally break the wand inside, which would mean all her efforts would be for nothing.

She took out a sharp knife from her spatial storage and transformed it into a sharp cleaver.

Approach the vine ball and chop at it repeatedly. As a result, after the original vines fell off, new vines began to entwine around it.

To actually get the wand, she has to cut faster than the vines can wrap around her.

She's not a robot, nor is she a speed-type player like Si Zhong; how could she possibly do that?

Si Zhong couldn't come in, which gave her a real headache. She stopped what she was doing, looked around, and found that the entire cave only had this one tree.

The so-called vines actually grow from the tree. Suddenly, a thought struck me: there are thousands of vines, but only one tree!

Why doesn't she just cut down the tree?

Without hesitation, she turned the large machete in her hand into an axe and began to chop down the tree roots.

It's strange, really. The vines protect the wand but not their own "mother." This is probably a problem with the game's mechanics.

Ning Shu thought this bug was pretty good; it gave her an opportunity.

She swung her axe and kept chopping at the tree roots, suddenly feeling as if she were Wu Gang chopping down the tree in the Moon Palace, one stroke after another, endlessly regenerating.

As she chopped away, an hour passed before she suddenly stopped and called out to Si Zhong.

"What have you been busy with? You haven't come out for so long."

Si Zhong sounded noticeably impatient. He didn't think Ning Shu was lying to him; he just felt that she might be holding back something.

Ignoring Si Zhong's impatience, Ning Shu asked, "Have you ever cut down a tree?"

Si Zhong didn't understand the meaning of this seemingly random sentence: "...Yes."

Ning Shu continued, "Are there any safety precautions? How can we ensure it won't hit anyone when it falls?"
