Chapter 353 Back to Reality (4) - She's Leaving

Chapter 353 Back to Reality (4) - She's Leaving

Ning Shu still couldn't remember where her home was or how to contact her family. She was filled with anxiety and fear, but she couldn't confide in anyone.

Si Zhong seems to be very busy lately, leaving early and returning late. Usually, he leaves before she gets up and only comes back after she has gone to sleep.

This resulted in the two of them living together, but not actually seeing each other very often.

Gradually, Ning Shu developed a dislike for Si Zhong, feeling that he did not value her feelings.

She didn't understand why she was even more dependent on Si Zhong now that she had left the game.

In the game, I am clearly not that kind of person.

She didn't understand what went wrong, nor did she know if it was her problem or someone else's.

This feeling lingered for several days, and finally, one day it was triggered by a nightmare.

That day, Ning Shu went to bed early as usual and quickly fell asleep, but the dream was not so pleasant.

In her dream, she saw two blurry figures, unable to make out each other's faces.

But she knew they were her parents, because they always called her by her nickname, "Nannan".

"Darling, it's time to eat. Wash your hands first. You're such a big girl, and you still can't make things easy for us."

"It's time for school, or you'll be late."

"Hurry up, Dad will take you to school. Bring the milk and steamed buns, you can eat them in the car."

Heartwarming scenes flashed before her eyes, and Ning Shu felt as if she were smiling.

Suddenly everything went black before her eyes, and then she "saw" herself being put in the trunk of a car and taken away.

Soon, her parents discovered she was missing. They first called the police, then distributed flyers everywhere and even searched for her on social media.

Ning Shu wanted to shout, "Mom and Dad, I'm here! I'm back! Wait for me!"

But she couldn't make a sound and could only watch her parents break down, unable to do anything.

Time flies, and she noticed that her parents were getting older, but they were still searching for her everywhere.

The scope has expanded nationwide, and even worldwide.

They would go there without hesitation if they heard any news that was even remotely related to them, until they were completely bankrupt.

Finally, she saw her parents die alone in a dilapidated rented room.

"don't want--"

Ning Shu was startled awake by the dream. She reached out and touched her face, finding it covered in tear stains, and there was no one beside her bed.

Si Zhong hasn't returned yet!

At this moment, her resentment towards Si Zhong reached its peak. She didn't want to stay here anymore; she wanted to leave and find her parents.

She got out of bed barefoot, not even bothering to change her clothes, and was about to leave.

She was now able to move around without any problems. Using the dim nightlight in the room, she opened the door and headed towards the side door.

The main building is divided into two symmetrical halves with the arched gate at its center. Si Zhong and Ning Shu live on the right half, which is closer to the lake.

The two halves of the building are connected by a long corridor that runs through the entire building, but each half has a side door for entry and exit.

Regardless of which gate you enter or exit, if you need to leave the manor, you must pass through the central avenue.

To reach the central avenue from the side gate, you need to pass through an outdoor corridor that resembles an arcade.

Unlike the arcade walkway, the outer edge of the corridor is lined with stone-carved railings.

At this time, only the moonlight streaming in was visible outside; the lights in the corridor were not on.

Ning Shu noticed a small red dot in mid-air ahead. Just as she was wondering about it, the motion-sensor lights on the corridor turned on.

There was someone in the corridor ahead, and the little red dot was the cigarette in their hand.

That person was very tall.

Ning Shu didn't stop walking. When she got closer, she saw that the other person seemed to squint because of the sudden light coming on.

Sensing movement nearby, he turned his head and looked at her.

Ning Shu recognized him; it was Si Zhong!

She thought he hadn't come back yet, but here he was, smoking! When did he learn to smoke?

Ning Shu, already dissatisfied with Si Zhong, and having discovered his bad habits, snapped and shoved him hard.

The other person hadn't expected to be attacked like that so suddenly, and lost their balance, staggering backward.

Fortunately, he was tall and had a stable base, and Ning Shu's strength was limited, so he didn't end up in too much of a mess.

Before the other party could even utter a word of rebuke, Ning Shu burst into a tirade of curses.

"You bastard! You're always bullying me. You're never around. You promised to help me find my family, but you didn't take it seriously."

"Go to hell! Go to hell!"

She spoke at the top of her lungs while punching the other person's chest with her small fists, venting her frustrations from the past few days.

She had originally intended to leave, but since she had run into Si Zhong, she couldn't help but vent her frustrations.

The other party remained silent and let Ning Shu vent his anger until Ning Shu was tired of hitting and stopped hitting and cursing before speaking.

But as soon as he opened his mouth, Ning Shu froze on the spot.

"Is this how you seduced Ah Zhong?"

Her voice is very similar to Si Zhong's, but her tone of voice is completely different.

Ning Shu suddenly looked up at the other person, trying to identify them.

Only then did she see the other person's face clearly. It was almost exactly the same as Si Zhong's, the only difference being the eyes—both of the other person's eyes were amber.

She had only seen half of the other person's face, specifically the side with amber eyes, and she immediately assumed it was Si Zhong.

I never expected that I would mistake someone for someone else.

Based on the other person's intimate address and appearance, Ning Shu guessed the other person's identity without any surprise—Si Zhong's older brother.

She was a little stunned, unsure how to react. The key was his tone; he seemed to have a problem with her, though she didn't know where that problem came from.

Ning Shu was at a loss for what to do. After thinking for a while, she decided to do what she had planned beforehand—leave this place.

She bypassed the man and headed straight for the central avenue, while Si Chen frowned and stared at her departing figure.

When Ning Shu was hitting him earlier, he noticed that she was only wearing pajamas.

The pajamas had a loose neckline, and given his height, he could see almost everything underneath.

As she ran forward, he discovered that she was still barefoot, and for a moment he didn't know what to say.

He had long heard that Si Zhong was keeping a woman in the manor and taking good care of her, so he sent someone to investigate the woman's background.

When he received the investigation results, his expression turned sour. This woman still held that same identity; how could he not be worried?

After finally finishing his busy work, he had some free time to come back, so he planned to talk to Si Zhong about this woman, but he didn't expect that she hadn't returned yet.

He dialed Si Zhong's number and, upon hearing that he was almost home, decided to wait there.

He was a little irritated, so he started smoking here.

He had no particular opinion about cigarettes, whether they were good or bad; he would just smoke a few when he had nothing else to do to pass the time.

Unexpectedly, the woman suddenly appeared and started hitting him, causing him to drop his cigarette on the ground.

He looked at the still-burning cigarette on the ground, and a thought suddenly popped into his head: Luckily she didn't step on it...
