Jin He recognized it at a glance; the handkerchief was a custom-made foreign item, costing between four and five figures. He thought they were just putting the handkerchief on his bed to stage a frame-up, but by nightfall, he had a vague feeling that something was off.
His nose started to feel stuffy, and his head began to feel dizzy. He had a bad feeling about him.
"Xiao He, why do you look so tired again?" Before going to bed that night, Fang Xiaoke sat by Jin He's bed with a worried look on her face. "Are you okay? Why are you wearing a mask in the dorm?"
Jin He's eyes were half-closed, and his stuffy nose made his voice sound muffled. He glanced at Fang Xiaoke, then moved away a little: "Stay away from me, I might catch a cold."
"Huh? You caught a cold? Well, you haven't been chilled recently, and there's no one around with the flu. How could you catch a cold?" Fang Xiaoke reached out to touch Jin He's forehead. Luckily, Jin He didn't have a fever. He exclaimed, "How about I take you to the infirmary first? Let's get some medicine for you."
Jin He probably couldn't take the cold medicine that most people would take. He lay on the bed for a while, hesitated, then got up, pulled out his suitcase, and stuffed his pillow and blanket inside.
"What are you going to do?"
"I'm going to find an empty room. The third round of competition is coming up soon, and you can't be late."
"Then you need to find someone to take care of you; you're already feeling sickly." Fang Xiaoke volunteered, "I'll go! I'll go!"
"Hiss..." Jin He reached out and pressed him back down. "Don't cause trouble. The important thing is to get through your third public performance smoothly. Go to sleep quietly."
After saying that, he took out a bottle of disinfectant alcohol from under the bedside table: "After I leave, spray the whole house with this to disinfect it."
"Okay." Fang Xiaoke pondered for a moment, then suddenly unlocked her own smartwatch and placed it on Jin He's wrist. "You can't contact anyone without a phone, so here you are. If it's really serious, you must contact someone."
This thing is indeed useful, and Jin He expressed his gratitude to Fang Xiaoke.
The new place to stay was a room that had been vacated after the eliminated kids left. It was fairly clean. Jin He had a headache. As soon as she entered the room, she took out the quilt, wrapped herself in it, and prepared to go to sleep.
But Fang Xiaoke was restless. When Ji Feng returned, he glanced at Jin He's bedside and asked, "Where's Brother Xiao He?"
"Xiao He had a bit of a cold and didn't want to infect us, so he moved out."
"I see." Ji Feng withdrew his gaze, took his toiletries and went into the bathroom. Fang Xiaoke sat on Jin He's bed for a while, still a little worried.
"I still don't think it's a good idea. Xiao He's health isn't very good usually. I hope something bad might happen."
"A cold... it should be nothing serious, right?" Ji Feng became less certain after Fang Xiaoke said that. "But Xiao He always looks so frail... where are you going?"
Fang Xiaoke had already reached the door: "I'm going to find Teacher An."
"I have this uneasy feeling," An Yi suddenly said to Lin Nian, who was reading a script beside him. "I hope nothing bad happens."
"What could possibly happen?"
That's true. An Yi forced himself to calm down, looked down at his tablet, and after a while, said, "I asked you to deliver the first-aid kit to Xiao He, did you deliver it?"
"It's been delivered, and he accepted it, so don't worry." Lin Nian lowered her eyes, seeing that he still looked worried, so she could only comfort him, "Don't worry, with so many people at the base, what kind of accident could Xiao He encounter?"
As soon as Lin Nian finished speaking, there was a light knock on the door. An Yi turned his gaze to the door and suddenly had a bad feeling.
"Oh, Teacher Lin is here too."
Fang Xiaoke was still wearing her pajamas and a coat. She looked up at Lin Nian with some surprise when she first saw him.
"Hmm, good evening. Is there anything I can help you with so late?"
An Yi then came over.
Fang Xiaoke felt relieved when she saw An Yi and said, "Brother Xiao He might have caught a cold; he wasn't very energetic last night."
"cold?!"
"Ah, yes, he said he was afraid of infecting us, so he went to the production team himself and found an empty room to move into. I'm still a little worried because Brother Xiaohe looked quite unwell, and he wouldn't let us accompany him..."
An Yi had stopped listening to Fang Xiaoke's words long ago. He was worried about Jin He catching a cold, which would be troublesome, and this is what happened tonight!
"I'll go take a look."
He left Lin Nian and Fang Xiaoke behind and walked away without looking back.
“I’ll go take a look too. Thank you, Fang Xiaoke.” Lin Nian took two steps forward, then turned back to remind him, “Remember to take some medicine to prevent colds, so you don’t get sick at this time.”
"Oh, Teacher Lin..."
Fang Xiaoke stopped Lin Nian, seemingly unsure how to begin: "I can actually tell that Brother Xiaohe isn't feeling well. Is there something wrong with him?"
Lin Nian turned around and patted Fang Xiaoke on the shoulder: "Go ask him about this yourself."
Jin He huddled under the covers, his throat starting to itch, and he coughed every now and then. This was not a good sign. He struggled to get out of bed and coughed as he rummaged through his suitcase. The first-aid kit that the captain had brought today was still there.
To be precise, he always had a hard time getting a cold. He guessed he had a fever. He felt dizzy and weak when he squatted on the ground. His wristband was also broken, so he couldn't see his heart rate, but he could vaguely feel that it was a little too fast.
He braced himself against his suitcase and took a painful breath.
Therefore, his condition makes getting sick very troublesome, and his best option now is to go to the hospital.
Jin He casually tore open two pills, stuffed them into his mouth, and swallowed them dry. He would take two pills first to see if he could get through it. If not, he would call 120. Anyway, Fang Xiaoke's phone watch was still with him.
After swallowing the medicine, he tried to stand up by supporting himself on the table, but because his limbs were weak, he fell to the ground.
Jin He: "As expected, I'm getting old and useless."
However, Jin He's principle has always been to lie down where you fall. Since he really couldn't stand up now, he simply didn't stand up. He reached out and pulled his blanket over, preparing to wrap himself up and lie down on the ground, when he suddenly felt something hug him.
Immediately afterwards, An Yi's loud voice rang out from above.
"Why are you lying on the ground? What's wrong? Are you going to faint? Say something!"
Jin He: "..."
Could you please keep your voice down, bro?
