Chapter 34 Do you like treasure chests?

As the dinner party drew to a close, Lin Nian finally stepped forward and asked, "Have you all eaten your fill, kids?"

The children, their bellies round and their mouths glistening with oil, exclaimed in unison, "We're full!"

"It smells so good!"

"Hmm." Lin Nian smiled and said, "This might be the most comfortable meal some children have had in the last three months."

He took out a form, his gentle voice like a devil's whisper: "I have your physical examination reports from the past two days. Some of the children's body fat percentages are clearly unacceptable. How can you dance with such flabby muscles?"

"I won't name names here, but you can check the medical reports sent to your phones. Anyone over 18 is unqualified. (These are the requirements for celebrities to appear on camera; ordinary people, don't try this!)"

"In the future, the cafeteria will open a special stall to sell low-fat meals. It will definitely ensure everyone's nutritional intake, but as for how it tastes... I can't be sure."

After Lin Nian finished speaking, a groan erupted from the crowd. Lin Nian then added, "We'll be weighing you in two weeks. Those with a body fat percentage below the required level will have to do extra training."

"Mom! I want to go home!"

"Is this some kind of transformation program?!"

After Lin Nian finished speaking, he turned his head and found that An Yi was gone. He raised his eyebrows and looked into the crowd, but he didn't see Jin He either.

What have those two been up to this time?

Jin He braced herself against the edge of the sink, her face deathly pale. She lightly pounded her chest and let out a dry heave, barely suppressed. Her face was still wet from washing it.

An Yi stood beside him and patted his back: "How are you? Still feeling nauseous?"

Jin He shook his head, then lay down again a moment later: "Ugh..."

Oh dear, I'm so worried.

I only ate two bites of grilled meat.

An Yi, looking distressed, wet a washcloth and wiped Jin He's face, then asked, "You're such a picky eater. Should we ask the cafeteria to serve fish from now on? Do you want to eat fish? We can stew it... Hey! Hey! I'm just giving you an example! Don't throw up!"

They won't even eat fish!

An Yi complained, "I would have thought you were pregnant... Don't pinch me! It hurts!"

He's really hard to raise. There's no one harder to raise than Jin He. Not only is he hard to raise, but he's also raising him without any status or recognition. He hasn't even been given a proper title yet. An Yi thinks he's just like those resentful women online who wash underwear with a black face.

However, heart problems can indeed lead to loss of appetite, not to mention that Jin He has had a weak stomach since childhood, so it's fair to say that he didn't want things to be this way.

Is the barbecue delicious? It's certainly delicious after a couple of bites, but after a couple of bites, Jin He starts to feel nauseous, which takes away a lot of the fun for him.

Fortunately, An Yi had come prepared. He asked Jin He to wait in the lounge while he took a thermos. When he opened it, he found a thick and fragrant millet porridge.

Jin He: "..."

“I know you don’t like porridge, but you won’t throw up if you drink this!” An Yi ladled out a small bowl for him, his face darkening as he said, “You just have to drink this whole bowl! Drink it sip by sip, don’t force it down your throat!”

Jin He, who hadn't said a word, was speechless.

"I want my phone."

An Yi asked warily, "What?"

"Never mind that, just give me the phone."

An Yi went out to tell his assistant, then came back: "You drink first, the phone will be brought over in a bit."

The red date and millet porridge actually had a slightly sweet taste, though it wasn't very noticeable. But Jin He never liked porridge, especially sweet porridge! He could only linger there with the bowl in his arms. Seeing that An Yi wasn't looking over, he reached out and poured half of the millet porridge back into the bowl.

An Yi turned around and saw that there were obviously more insulated containers than before: "..."

"Jin He, do you think I'm a fool?"

Jin He drank his porridge without saying a word.

"Or should I have Lin Nian come and watch you drink?"

"Why do you call for backup when you can't win a fight?"

An Yi shrugged: "What else can I do? I can't control you. You just don't take your health seriously."

At that moment, the assistant pushed open the door and walked in, handing over the phone. Jin He took it and smiled brightly: "Thank you!"

She smiled so happily at others. An Yi muttered resentfully, but Jin He didn't hear her.

They might be pretending not to hear.

"What do you need the phone for?" An Yi asked.

"I'll have someone take care of you."

An Yi was speechless. Who could Jin He possibly get to come over? Why would that little brat Jin Miao come and scratch me?

Are you kidding me?

Jin He fiddled with her phone for a while when An Yi's phone suddenly rang. It was Jin He who had unblocked him on WeChat and sent him a message for the first time in three years. It was a transfer; Jin He had sent him 500 yuan, which was the money An Yi had given him for extra tutoring these past two days.

An Yi scrolled up again. The earliest chat record was from a year ago when he asked Jin He: "Are you really going to break up with me? Is something wrong with you? Even if we are going to break up, can you at least tell me you're safe and sound?"

There is a red exclamation mark next to the dialog box.

Further ahead

Why so suddenly? Don't you like me anymore?

I won't break up!

I've called you so many times, Jinhe, answer the phone!

Jin He, you'll regret this!

An Yi scrolled through the previous chat history and finally found the last message Jin He sent him.

An Yi: I've gotten off the plane. I just saw a hand-woven little treasure chest on the street. It's perfect for making a keychain, so I bought it. I'll airfreight it to you right away so you can receive it as soon as possible.

Jin He: You can see me off when you come back. I already miss you as soon as you left. Good luck in the competition! I want to kiss you when you come back. [kissskiss]

An Yi: There are other styles too. Do you like the little treasure chest? If not, I'll pick another one.

Jin He: I love it! I love it! The big treasure chest gave me a small treasure chest, I love it so much!

An Yi: You call me Big Treasure Chest!

Jin He: How reasonable! An Yi—a treasure chest that randomly drops gifts and experience points!

“I’m not used to accepting kindness from strangers,” Jin He suddenly said. “Take the money, it will make me feel better…Teacher An.”

An Yi looked at Jin He's emoji in the chat history, then glanced at Jin He again, and suddenly felt as if he were in another world.

At the time, he thought it was just a simple business trip.

An Yi didn't say anything, but simply returned the transfer. Just as Jin He was about to speak, she heard An Yi ask, "Did you receive it?"

"What?"

Did you receive the little treasure chest keychain I bought for you while I was abroad?

"No," Jin He answered crisply. "I wasn't living in the dorm anymore. Since everyone was leaving after the break, the package was probably lost a long time ago. Who knows?"

"It's lost."

"If you think it's a pity... I'll compensate you?"

An Yi shook his head, looking dejected: "Never mind, it's nothing valuable anyway."

Seeing that the two of them might be reminiscing about the past again, Jin He didn't want to continue the conversation and got up to leave, when he heard An Yi call out to him: "Jin He, do you like treasure chests?"

Jin He left the lounge without looking back. The door was gently closed, leaving only three words in the air.

"dislike."
