After numerous failures, Jin He finally managed to make two packs of nougat that looked and tasted decent on the afternoon of the second day. As soon as she sealed them in small plastic bags, she was eager to pack them into small boxes to deliver them over the weekend.
"This bag is for you," Jin He said. "You rarely eat sugar to protect your voice, so I put a little extra milk powder in this bag."
"good."
An Yi responded, his lips twitching as he took the candy and put it away. "I'll eat it."
"If you don't want to eat it, you can give it to someone else."
"impossible."
Jin He didn't pay any more attention to him. She wrapped the candy and put it in a small box, ready to deliver it to Zhou Mo. An Yi didn't stop her either. Anyway, it was just next door, only a few steps away. He stood at the door and watched Jin He go.
As Jin He approached the door, she heard two barks. Just as she was wondering if the family had a dog, she heard the door open. Zhou Mo, wearing a coat over his pajamas, seemed quite surprised to see Jin He.
"It's you!"
A chubby little Shiba Inu squeezed out from beside his feet and wagged its tail at Jin He.
"Is this your dog?!" Jin He bent down and patted the Shiba Inu's head. "So cute!"
The dog wagged its tail even more enthusiastically upon hearing this.
"Its name is Fatty."
On the weekend, seeing Fatty about to jump on someone, I stuck my foot out and stopped the dog behind me: "What are you doing here?"
"Oh, I made some nougat at home and wanted to give you some." Jin He handed over the box in her hand. "I don't know if it will suit your taste."
"Great! I love snacks." She affectionately pulled his arm on the weekend. "Come in and sit for a while. I'll make you some juice. Fatty really likes you."
An Yi, who watched Jin He being dragged into the house on the weekend, was speechless.
Why? !
Well, it seems Jin He really likes her. He doesn't have any other friends besides his teammates, so it's good for him to go out and make some new friends. He shouldn't interfere in this matter... But... Jin He probably won't eat anything at her house, right?
Probably not...
It can only be said that An Yi's worries were completely unnecessary. He thought of things even more thoroughly than An Yi. Knowing that Jin He was not in good health, he served all the snacks and fruits for the guests to be healthy, nutritious, and at room temperature. Even if they were taken out of the refrigerator, they were rinsed with warm water.
Jin He noticed the group photo under the TV cabinet and asked, "Oh, you got married?"
“Yes,” Zhou Mo replied while peeling an apple, “We’ve been married for seven years.”
If you really think about it, if he and An Yi hadn't broken up, they would have been together for seven years now.
"You and your partner have a very good relationship," Jin He exclaimed, looking at the wedding photo. "That's wonderful."
"You guys are doing pretty well, aren't you? I can see that An Yi is taking good care of you."
Jin He didn't say anything more.
Seeing that he didn't seem to want to bring up the topic over the weekend, I wisely kept quiet. After all, it might be his private matter, and it wasn't appropriate for me to pry too much.
After a while, on the weekend, he put the apple, which had been cut into the shape of a little rabbit, on a plate and pushed it in front of Jin He: "I work in the medical industry and I come into contact with a lot of cases. I have seen cases like yours, and many of them have recovered. Don't be too discouraged."
"Really?"
"Of course it's true. I'll tell you a secret: I had a very serious illness before. I thought I wasn't going to survive, but I'm fine now."
Now, Zhou Mo looks rosy-cheeked and full of energy. Jin He occasionally sees him sitting on a small stool washing pots in the yard, full of vigor all day long. Could it be that this kind of person was ever sick before?!
She smiled gently on the weekend: "But our illnesses are probably different, though they're pretty much the same. I know being sick is really painful, but it's okay, it will all pass."
"Ah..." Jin He responded with her mouth open.
"And don't be too discouraged. My partner stayed by my side the whole time. He was so afraid something would happen to me, so he never left my side. I could feel his concern. Can you feel An Yi's concern?"
How could he not feel it? An Yi's concern was almost tangible; he wished he could split into several bodies and squat beside Jin He to urge him: Eat! Take your medicine!
Jin He nodded vigorously: "So love can heal everything?"
She suddenly gave him a very strange look over the weekend.
“Of course not,” Zhou Mo replied. “Neither your partner nor my partner are doctors, so how could we possibly cure everything? It’s doctors and medicine that can cure everything.”
Jin He: "..."
"oh."
On the weekend, he insisted on having him stay for dinner, but Jin He politely declined. After all, it wasn't appropriate to suddenly come to someone's house for dinner without having prepared anything. On the weekend seemed quite disappointed, so Jin He carried Fatty to the door and said goodbye.
So cute.
Jin He rubbed the dog's head. If his physical condition allowed, he would also like to have a small pet. Dogs are a bit fussy, and he prefers kittens.
...
Let's talk about it later.
Jin He walked to the front door and looked up to see An Yi sitting on the swing in the yard, staring intently at the door. Jin He paused.
"You didn't... wait here for me all afternoon, did you?"
"Um."
“It’s not cold outside. Why don’t you go inside and wait? What if you catch a cold?” Jin He pulled him into the house and touched his slightly cold hand. “Sit here for a while. I’ll make you a cup of ginger tea.”
Did you have fun today?
"What?"
An Yi touched his nose, his eyes unconsciously glancing elsewhere: "I'm asking you, did you have fun today?"
"It's alright." Jin He held An Yi's hand and answered truthfully, "I ate some apples and blueberries there over the weekend."
"Hmm, did you eat a lot? Can you still eat dinner?" An Yi hugged him, wrapped his arms around his waist, but did not reach out to touch Jin He's stomach. Instead, he lowered his head and rested his forehead on Jin He's shoulder.
Jin He sensed that An Yi's mood was a bit off: "You didn't eat much... What's wrong?"
"I was just about to take your pillow and sheets to wash."
The smile on Jin He's face gradually faded.
An Yi raised his hand, revealing a keychain on his index finger. A small treasure chest keychain lay quietly in his palm. "Didn't you say you didn't receive this? Why is it still hidden in your pillow?"
"Then I must have remembered it wrong." Jin He raised her hand to try to snatch the things away, but An Yi suddenly gripped the keychain and couldn't open it no matter what she did.
"Jin He, you little liar." An Yi tightened his grip on Jin He's waist. "Didn't you say you didn't receive it?"
Seeing that she couldn't snatch it, Jin He gave up, reached out and nudged An Yi's shoulder as she was about to leave: "Forget it, it's just a keychain."
"So what?!" An Yi grabbed him. "What keychain? You've kept it for three years? And you're saying you don't love me anymore?"
"I just don't love you anymore. I've just left it there and forgotten about it."
An Yi suddenly pulled Jin He into his arms, grabbed his chin, and fiercely kissed his incessantly chattering mouth.
