Chapter 23 Chapter 23 "Like a puppy."
The next day, Ji Ci still felt a little dizzy when she woke up.
Her skirt was wrinkled from sleeping. She sat on the edge of the bed for a long time, and vaguely imagined herself hugging Boss Jin's neck in the elevator and kissing him one after another.
Ji Ci covered her face.
It's so scary.
She decided to quit drinking.
After taking a quick shower, Ji Ci changed into a loose short-sleeved shirt and jeans. While combing her hair, she saw the cat bracelet in front of the mirror. After thinking about it, she put it on without hesitation.
In the hotel, Zhuang Yan and Xiao Zhou were still sleeping, the auto repair shop was closed, and only Sister Xu and Doctor Liang were at the pet shop. Ji Ci changed into work clothes and went to help out temporarily.
"So you are planning to get back to your original business?" Sister Xu sounded a little surprised.
"Yeah," Ji Ci said, "I've been learning this since I was little. Otherwise, I always feel it's a pity."
"Indeed," Sister Xu thought about it and agreed. "So you plan to stay in Yuncheng?"
Ji Ci rinsed the foam off the dog's body, said nothing, and just nodded.
"Because of Boss Jin?" Sister Xu hesitated.
Ji Ci shook her head: "Not just that."
She also has a complicated family, and it may be difficult for her to develop in Beijing.
Ji Ci chose to stay in Yuncheng because she didn't want to blame everything on Jin Sen. She was afraid that if things didn't go well in the future, she would be implicated.
As an adult, if you think about the worst possible outcome and feel you can handle it, you can just go ahead and do it.
I have nothing to begin with, so the worst that can happen is that I can go back to the beginning.
Ji Ci calculated the time and found that there were still three months left before the autumn recruitment. In order to prepare for the written test, she planned to systematically review all her previous professional knowledge. After all, she hadn't touched it for more than two years, so it was bound to be rusty.
I don't plan to be idle during this period. If there are any recruitment notices nearby, I can try my luck and cast a wide net. It doesn't matter what kind of net it is, just cast it.
A few days later, Zhuang Yan returned to Beijing, and Ji Ci told Jin Sen about this.
They have been together for half a month. After the initial awkward period of being neither too close nor too distant, they gradually became closer.
Ji Ci studies every day and is lazy about cooking, so Jin Sen calls her when he's ready next door. After dinner, they both stay together and do their own things.
The air conditioner is on in the room, and I have to cover myself with a thin blanket when I sit on the sofa.
Jin Sen stretched his legs and watched TV series. Ji Ci was hugged by him, leaning against his arms, curled up and looking down to do exercises on the tablet.
"Those piecemeal job postings aren't good positions, so it's okay not to apply."
Some people think the Internet is too big.
Ji Ci looked up: "It's good that someone wants me!"
Jin Sen placed his right hand on her shoulder, playing with her soft hair with his fingers: "You are at least a graduate of a prestigious university, don't look down on yourself so much. It's okay in Jing City, but is there no place for you in Yuncheng?"
"How powerful am I in your eyes?" Ji Ci said uncomfortably. "You are just filtering my image because you are in love, right? I am very weak."
"Doctor Ji, you're being modest," Jin Sen pinched her face. "Mr. Wang from the grain and oil shop had back pain for over ten years, and after a few acupuncture treatments from you, he's back is back to health. A few days ago, he even told me, 'Your daughter-in-law is truly rare, you need to take good care of her.'"
Ji Ci's ears quickly turned red, and she tried to get up from Jin Sen's arms: "Who is your wife?"
Jin Sen smiled and pushed the man back: "Who else could it be? You can't play tricks on me."
I was interrupted halfway through doing the questions and could never study properly when I was around Jin Sen.
"You've been studying all day and you're still studying," Jin Sen kissed her a few times while the situation was chaotic. "Were you the kind of student who had excellent grades and always got first place in exams?"
Ji Ci recalled: "Even if first place doesn't count, there are still some in the top ten."
"Three good students, right?" Jin Sen said with a smile, "At that time, I felt that people like you and I were from two different worlds."
"Your grades are very bad?" Ji Ci asked.
"I was average, probably in the top 100 in my grade," Jin Sen said. "No one cared about me back then. I'd run around with a bunch of people all day, getting into fights and getting sent to the police station. My mom was afraid I'd become a bad person and she wouldn't be able to change me, so she just handed me over to the state."
"Auntie is quite foresighted," Ji Ci said seriously, "You didn't seem like a good person the first time I met you."
Jin Sen sighed and objected: "I look righteous, how can I not be a good person?"
Ji Ci answered his questions seriously: "He's fierce and likes to wear black clothes. When he's not smiling, he looks like he can pull a knife out of his pocket and start slashing people at any time."
Jin Sen was shocked. He shouldn't be like this, right?
"Are you fierce already?" He narrowed his eyes. "I've been fiercer before."
Ji Ci subconsciously wanted to ask when, but her brain was faster than her mouth. Before she could say anything, she reacted and pushed Jin Sen's face aside in anger.
"You're so annoying! I need to practice some questions!"
Jin Sen smiled and covered her with the blanket.
Later, when Ji Ci checked the recent recruitment information, she found that those positions were either in remote locations or had poor salaries, which was almost the same as what Boss Jin had said. She was worried that if she got the job, she would miss out on the good positions in the autumn recruitment. So she listened to Jin Sen's advice and gave up the previous scattered recruitment.
With the start of summer vacation in July, Yuncheng ushered in the peak tourist season.
Ji Ci clearly felt that there were more people around when she went out. Jinsen's store was always busy, and the pet shop was also very busy.
She would occasionally cook. When there was not enough food in the refrigerator, she would go to the vegetable market or supermarket to buy some. When she got out of the elevator, she lowered her head to search for the key in her pocket, and the door suddenly opened from the inside.
Jin Sen had just finished taking a shower and came out shirtless. He easily took the shopping bag from Ji Ci's hand and was pushed into the door by his shy girlfriend with a blushing face.
As the days passed, Ji Ci felt at ease and secure.
Jin Sen always takes good care of her in every aspect, and their way of getting along fits her definition of "family".
So, when Zhuang Yan asked her about her future plans again, Ji Ci decided to stay in Yuncheng.
She didn't know whether her choice was right, and she thought that she might regret it many years later, but life is always full of choices. No matter what the result is, as long as she has a clear conscience, it's fine.
In August, autumn recruitment began in some units.
Although Ji Ci graduated from a prestigious university, a bachelor's degree is clearly not an advantage in their industry. In addition, her training experience was too brief, so her job search was not smooth.
She took several written tests and her results were all quite ideal. Ji Ci recorded the interview times separately to avoid any conflicts and make choices in advance.
Those who are unsure will go and ask Boss Jin.
Jin Sen is older than her and knows Yuncheng better. In some aspects, he sees things more clearly than her.
But for some reason, Jin Sen denied her choice of job in all aspects, saying that either this or that was not acceptable, and he would always find fault with her.
Ji Ci was angry and suspicious: "Do you want me to be a parasite at home?"
"That's fine," Jin Sen teased her, "How about it? Would you consider it?"
Ji Ci was so angry that she pulled his ear: "You want to spoil me while we're still in a relationship? That's impossible."
Jin Sen put his arm around her waist and continued the conversation: "Then let's get married?"
Ji Ci paused, not quite able to tell whether this was a joke or a serious one, so she let go of Jin Sen's ear and her expression became more serious: "You really don't want me to work?"
"Those aren't good," Jin Sen hugged Ji Ci, resting his face on her shoulder, "The autumn recruitment doesn't really start until September or October, let's wait a little longer."
Ji Ci felt that Jin Sen was quite contradictory. On the rooftop that day, he clearly supported her in doing what she wanted to do, but when she actually put it into practice, he repeatedly denied it.
Do you regret it? Or was everything you said before not true?
Ji Ci didn't want to assume anything bad about Jin Sen, but his behavior did make her uneasy.
At the end of the month, Ji Ci went for the interview as planned.
One of the interviewers was an old Chinese medicine doctor who was very interested in Ji Ci. He contacted Ji Ci privately and said that even if she failed to be hired, he could introduce her to a Chinese medicine clinic for training.
Ji Ci took some time to visit this Chinese medicine clinic, and the master chef was very impressed with her skills.
This was a great encouragement, and Ji Ci sent a message to Jin Sen on the way home.
But there was no reply for a long time, so she thought the other party was busy. She went to the store on the way, but the door was closed. When she returned home, the person was not there either.
Such situations are rare. Ji Ci felt uneasy and called Jin Sen several times. In the end, it was Brother Wang who answered the phone.
The two grown men were drinking outside, and Jin Sen was drunk.
Ji Ci was quite shocked. Even with Jin Sen's alcohol tolerance, he could get drunk. What kind of big thing had happened to the two of them that made them drink so hard?
Brother Wang hesitated to speak, and finally sighed: "Wait until he sobers up and you can have a good chat."
At ten o'clock in the evening, Brother Wang sent the drunk Jin Sen upstairs.
It was the first time that Ji Ci saw Jin Sen so drunk, and she stood by the bed, feeling a little helpless.
"Should I just leave?" Brother Wang asked worriedly, "Or should I help him change his clothes?"
"I, I'll do it." It was late, and Ji Ci didn't want to waste Brother Wang's time. "Thank you for troubling me today."
"Well," Brother Wang waved his hand, "I don't talk about this with him."
Ji Ci walked him out the door. While waiting for the elevator, Wang Ge looked at Ji Ci several times and couldn't help but say, "Jin Sen and I have known each other for more than ten years. There are many girls chasing after him, but I have never seen him fall in love with anyone."
The elevator reached the eighth floor, and with a "ding dong" sound, the door opened.
Brother Wang didn't rush in, but continued to finish his words: "You are different, he really cares about you."
When I returned to the room, the air was filled with the smell of alcohol.
Ji Ci turned on the air conditioner, went to the bathroom to get a basin of warm water, wrung out a towel and wiped the sweat off Jin Sen's forehead.
Her movements were very light, and the evaporation of water took away the heat, making her feel warm and cool, which was very comfortable.
Jin Sen opened his eyes in a half-asleep state, and Ji Ci was leaning over, struggling to figure out how to take off his clothes.
Jin Sen picked up a strand of hair that was hanging by his lips.
Ji Ci noticed his movements and straightened up slightly: "Are you awake?"
He did drink a little too much and now he has a terrible headache.
He felt weak and wanted to find a piece of empty space to lie down and pretend to be dead, but he was afraid that Ji Ci would worry, so he forced himself to sit up by supporting himself on the bed.
"Well, what time is it?"
His body was extremely sticky, so he took a cold shower. Afterward, he realized he hadn't taken any clothes. He was feeling depressed when Ji Ci knocked on the door from outside: "Are you done showering?"
She waited in the living room for a while, and only asked when she heard the sound of water stopped.
"I forgot to take my clothes." Jin Sen said in a hoarse voice.
Ji Ci's voice was still soft: "I'll put it outside the door for you."
Jin Sen waited for a while before opening the door. There was a stool next to the bathroom door, on which lay a set of clothes and underwear.
He felt a little sober.
When I returned to the bedroom, Ji Ci had already changed the bed.
"Are you a germaphobe?" Jin Sen asked.
Ji Ci went out holding the bed sheet: "It's cleaner than yours."
Jin Sen: “…”
He sat on the bed in a daze. The drowsiness he had just felt had passed, and he actually felt a little more awake.
"What's wrong with you?" Ji Ci came back, "Why did you drink so much today?"
She stood, Jin Sen hunched over, shorter than her, and raised his head: "I'm in a bad mood."
Ji Ci held his face and asked, "Why are you in a bad mood?"
She had just washed her hands with cold water, and her fingers and palms were cold. Jin Sen felt very comfortable against her skin, so she closed her eyes and rubbed her hands. The half-wet hair was extremely soft, which softened Ji Ci's heart.
"Like a puppy."
She hugged Jin Sen, and the man's face was pressed against her lower abdomen.
"Are you unhappy because of my job?" Ji Ci guessed.
Jin Sen shook his head.
"Don't want me to work?"
Still shaking his head.
"You want me to continue working at the pet store?"
Jin Sen laughed softly, raised his arm and put his arm around her waist, spread his legs and took a half step forward: "I want you to be happy."
That night, Ji Ci did not return to her room.
She could feel that Jin Sen was more dependent on her than before, as if he had separation anxiety, and was unwilling to let go once he was hugged.
Ji Ci was tired of standing, so she sat down and then simply lay down with him.
There was a sudden knock on the door, and Jin Sen woke up instantly: "Who?"
Ji Ci held him down: "My takeaway."
She stood up and was about to go out, but Jin Sen didn't let her get it: "Are you hungry?"
Ji Ci pursed her lips: "No."
A moment later, Jin Sen came in carrying a yellow paper bag: "What did you buy?"
Ji Ci sat upright on the bed, coughed lightly, and said seriously, "Condom."
With a "crack", Jin Sen felt as if a part had broken out of his body, and he stopped there.
"Safety measures still need to be taken," Ji Ci tried to maintain a normal tone, but her slightly halting words betrayed her nervousness. "Why are you looking at me like that? We already had sex ed in high school. Just be normal. Hey... can you hear me?"
Jin Sen put the paper bag on the bedside, sat on the edge of the bed, and felt that he was sober.
He glanced at Ji Ci, then hugged her somewhat dejectedly, like a large dog suddenly pouncing on her, and Ji Ci fell back.
"Let's go to Beijing." Jin Sen buried his face in her neck.
Ji Ci put her arms around his side, a little surprised: "Why do you want to go suddenly?"
"I've wanted to go there for a long time," Jin Sen said vaguely, "to go to Jing City and see your home."
