Chapter 5 Chapter 5 What a nice person.
Winter in Yuncheng seemed to come in a hop, landing on the ground, jumping, and shaking off a blanket of snow. Some of the snow fell firmly to the ground, while some melted halfway and turned into a drizzle.
Ji Ci is from the north and is used to staying in heated rooms. She shivers with cold as soon as she goes outdoors.
Even though she tried to go out less often, she still caught a cold after a rain.
Originally, she could have just endured it, but to make matters worse, her period came on time, making the situation even worse. The color drained from Ji Ci's face, so Sister Xu quickly gave her a day off and let her go back to rest.
Ji Ci pushed her small battery to the nearby community hospital to buy medicine for herself.
The pain is the most severe in the two days before menstruation, so she is used to burning herself with moxa. When the moxa balls at home are gone, she goes to buy some.
Few people buy this stuff, so the doctor at the pharmacy wrote her a prescription and told her to go to the rehabilitation room to pick it up. Ji Ci walked half the corridor according to the door number and finally knocked on the door of the rehabilitation room.
There is a screen in the middle of the room, with a lounge chair behind it.
Ji Ci's voice was hoarse: "Hello, I'm here to get the medicine."
The doctor was an aunt with curly hair. She took her prescription and walked into the house. Ji Ci was waiting there, but there was suddenly movement behind the screen.
The person who was originally lying on the chair sat up, raised his hand and moved the screen to the side with a "squeak".
When their eyes met, Ji Ci was stunned: "Boss Jin?"
Jin Sen's eyes curved: "Xiao Ji."
The doctor took out the medicine and asked, "Do you know him?"
Ji Ci nodded, took the medicine, and walked directly behind the screen without any hesitation.
Boss Jin's right trouser leg was rolled up to his thigh, and there were six or seven needles stuck in his calves and knees. It was hot from the heating lamp, and no one knew how long they had been stuck there.
Ji Ci took a quick look at the acupoints: "Is there a problem with the knee too?"
Boss Jin said vaguely: "It's a small problem."
Ji Ci directly asked the doctor beside her: "Is there any fluid accumulation?"
The doctor nodded: "Yes."
Ji Ci directly turned over his calf, and Jin Sen sat up straight in an instant.
Seeing that she was knowledgeable, the doctor spoke directly: "There is no blood clot, but there has been a slight inflammation."
Ji Ci frowned slightly: "He exercises a lot and doesn't keep warm well."
The doctor seemed to be an old acquaintance of Jin Sen. He glanced at him with interest, a faint smile in his eyes: "Yeah, no one cares about him."
Jin Sen coughed lightly: "Hey, can I remove this needle now?"
"Just pull it out," the doctor said with a smile, "it won't delay your return home."
Ji Ci went back with Boss Jin.
Just like the first time they walked together, one rode the electric scooter slowly while the other walked beside him.
Boss Jin said she looked very bad and asked her what medicine she bought.
Ji Ci just said that she had a cold.
She had a slight stomachache and could hardly speak.
The two were supposed to separate at an intersection, but Boss Jin showed no intention of turning. Ji Ci asked him where he was going, and he leaned forward slightly and asked her, "Are you angry?"
Ji Ci: “…”
What was she angry about?
Ji Ci was both angry and amused: "I'm having my period and my stomach hurts."
Boss Jin straightened his back and said, "Okay, go back and rest."
Ji Ci rode her bike back home, first made herself a cup of Isatis root tea, then took apart the moxa ball and started to smoke.
She stared at the ceiling, thinking about the needle in Boss Jin's leg, and couldn't help rubbing her fingers.
She used to want to sleep with a needle in her hand, but now she hasn't touched one for half a year. Those things easily remind her of her deceased grandmother.
Grandma was a well-known Chinese medicine practitioner in the small town. Ji Ci grew up touching medicine bottles and later went to college, where her grades were always at the top. She had always hoped that her graduation would give her grandma a more stable life, but things did not go as she wished. Grandma passed away suddenly, and she was unable to see her for the last time.
If you think too much about the past, you will feel sad. Ji Ci wiped the moisture from the corners of her eyes and took a long breath.
She fell asleep and when she woke up it was dark.
The phone next to my pillow reminded me that there were several unread messages, one from Xiao Zhou, one from Sister Xu, one from the pet group, and one from Boss Jin.
Most of them asked her if she was feeling well and if she had eaten dinner, and Ji Ci replied to each one.
When it comes to Boss Jin, things get stuck.
Boss Jin actually asked her if she wanted to eat wontons.
Ji Ci sat on the bed and bit her nails.
What does he mean?
Sent to the wrong person?
Is this wonton a cat or rice?
Just when I was struggling with this, Boss Jin’s message came again.
[Boss Jin: You replied to them but not me?]
Ji Ci almost threw her phone away.
The noise startled Wonton at the end of the bed. The kitten had grown a lot and meowed at Ji Ci.
Ji Ci quickly picked up the phone again.
[Words don't express the meaning: I'm wondering whether to eat or not.]
[Boss Jin: Eat it, someone has already gone to buy it.]
Ten minutes later, Ji Ci received a message saying that she had reached the door and asked her to open it.
She put down the comb, put the hood of her coral fleece pajamas on her head, and walked out of the bedroom in her cotton slippers.
The door was opened only a little bit, and Ji Ci lay in the crack and looked at the person outside like a thief.
It’s Boss Jin, for sure.
"It can't fit in," Boss Jin lifted the wonton in his hand, "How about I put it on the ground and you can take it later?"
The door opened a little wider, Ji Ci reached out and brought the wontons in, said "thank you" and quickly closed the door.
She ran into the bedroom like an excited rabbit, holding the wontons. Her heart was so warm that she could even temporarily ignore the pain in her lower abdomen.
She drank some hot soup, and her nostrils were cleared by hunger. She felt better and sent a message to Boss Jin: Why are you so kind?
She held her phone, waiting for a reply, then lowered her head and took another sip of soup.
I flipped through the chat history and felt that the tone of my conversation with Boss Jin had changed. At least he was not as particular about politeness as before.
[Boss Jin: I'm making a bet with them.]
【Words don’t express what I meant:?】
[Boss Jin: The loser will buy you wontons.]
[Words don’t express what you meant: You lost? ]
[Boss Jin: Guess.]
【Words don’t express my meaning: ……】
[Words don’t express my meaning: transfer 10.0 yuan]
Boss Jin didn't take the money, but it didn't matter whether he took it or not.
Ji Ci was a little angry, but she could only keep the anger to herself. Like steaming buns, it flew outside with a "hiss" sound and cooled down, turning into steam, dripping and leaving only coolness wherever it touched.
After several days, Sister Xu noticed the problem and asked Ji Ci what was wrong.
Ji Ci didn't know what she was upset about - after all, someone rushed to buy her wontons, but bought the wrong ones?
She just felt that she was thinking too much about Boss Jin, and she shouldn't think like that anymore.
Some people are naturally gentle and treat everyone like that. She misunderstood and it was her fault.

On the eve of New Year's Eve, the pet shop became busy.
Orders came in continuously every day, and Ji Ci was so busy that he was in a trance and had no time to think about anything else.
At eight o'clock in the evening, an older sister brought in a rather unkempt Alaskan dog.
Ji Ci's eyes went dark.
Xiao Zhou had already finished get off work, and she was the only one guarding the place.
The store will close in an hour, and there’s no way I can wash it.
It wasn't easy for the elder sister to bring it over, so we agreed to pay more.
Ji Ci was tempted to refuse, but soon gave in for the three hundred yuan, rolled up his sleeves and prepared to go to work until twelve o'clock.
And this business really lived up to her expectations. It took her almost ten o'clock just to wash the fur.
The eldest sister was dozing off while sitting outside, so Ji Ci dried the dog's hair and threw it into the dryer.
The next steps of blowing and combing the hair were the highlights. Ji Ci found a few combs and placed them one by one. While she was cleaning the floor, someone pushed open the shop door.
The doorbell rang, and Ji Ci was too busy to turn around: "Sorry, we're closed."
"Oh, I know."
She heard a familiar voice and turned around suddenly. It was Jin Sen.
Boss Jin glanced at the older woman who had fallen asleep next to him, then looked at the large dog hanging out its tongue in the dryer. Finally, he walked over to Ji Ci and sighed at the dog hair on the floor. "I was wondering why you weren't leaving yet? Turns out you were busy with a big order."
Ji Ci straightened up and said, "It's okay. I left after I finished my work."
"Do you need help?" Boss Jin reached out to take her broom.
"No need," Ji Ci turned around, "I can do it myself."
Jin Sen withdrew his hand awkwardly.
He had nothing to do, so he went to play with the dog in the drying box.
The big dog stuck out its tongue and woofed, startling the half-asleep elder sister. She asked nervously what was wrong. Ji Ci stared at Jin Sen, who scratched the back of his head awkwardly and said, "Nothing, the dog is quite lively."
Ji Ci worked efficiently. After dealing with the hair, she tied up the garbage bag and carried it out. Boss Jin took over forcefully and carried it out of the store.
"It's not tiring when men and women work together." The eldest sister said with a smile.
Ji Ci rubbed her nose and put on a mask.
The hair dryer makes a buzzing sound, and if you hear it too much, your head will start to buzz as well.
In the end, the repetitive blowing and combing of the hair had become a mechanical action. Fortunately, the dog was well-behaved and no other accidents happened.
Ji Ci wiped his face and rubbed off a tuft of hair.
Boss Jin stood beside her: "I'll be here for a while."
"You're not wearing work clothes," Ji Ci nudged him with her elbow, "Don't come in."
Boss Jin was pushed out.
It was already past ten o'clock when they finished. The elder sister paid the money and left with the beautiful big girl.
Ji Ci sat down on a box of cat litter, legs apart, eyes fixed on one spot, her soul already out of her body.
Boss Jin took a broom and cleaned the bathroom.
"Boss Jin," Ji Ci called him weakly, "voluntary labor?"
"We are neighbors, and we help each other," said Boss Jin.
There's something wrong with what he said. Boss Jin seems to do this kind of thing often.
If the circuit in your house burns out today and the water meter in his house stops working tomorrow, you will call Boss Jin to come over and take a look.
The neighbors all live together and see each other every day. This kind of small job doesn't require much effort, so Boss Jin usually doesn't charge for it.
After so many times, Boss Jin would be greeted, given a cigarette, or handed an orange wherever he went.
What a nice person.
"I'll do it myself." Ji Ci stood up by holding her knees and tried to take the broom from Boss Jin's hand.
Boss Jin turned sideways and handed the broom back: "Are you still angry with me?"
Ji Ci was confused: "Why should I be angry?"
Boss Jin also looked quite innocent: "I don't know."
The two stared at each other for a while, and Ji Ci still snatched the broom from the other's hand.
The movement was a bit too big, and Jin Sen took half a step back.
"This is my job," Ji Ci said, sweeping the floor with her head down. "I get paid for it, so I don't need your help."
"You're amazing."
The next day, when Sister Xu checked the surveillance footage, she shook her head in admiration: "How dare they accept an order for Alaska pigs at 8 o'clock?"
"There's nothing we can do," Ji Ci sighed. "That lady said she spent the whole afternoon looking for our store."
"Fortunately, Boss Jin came to help." Sister Xu said again.
Xiao Zhou's ears pricked up: "What?"
Ji Ci carried Xiao Zhou away.
Xiao Zhou hugged Ji Ci and asked with a smile, "Did you have a date with Boss Jin last night?"
"I was almost exhausted last night," Ji Ci glared at her. "How come you always think about that?"
"Why are you so hot and cold? Didn't Boss Jin send you wontons a while ago?"
Don't bring up things that are not related to the topic.
Ji Ci pushed her away: "Why are you joking with me?"
Xiao Zhou smiled brightly: "I think Boss Jin is happy to buy you wontons."
Ji Ci was helpless: "I'm willing to accept the loss, what can he do?"
"Who said that?" Xiao Zhou's eyes widened. "He won that day."
