Chapter 184 The Concert Battleground

Lin Yusheng's heart skipped a beat. Fanfan hadn't mentioned Lu Zhengye since that day when she cried so hard, and now that she suddenly brought it up, she didn't know how to answer.

"And Fanfan? Do you like... Daddy, or Uncle Qin?"

Lu Shifan pouted, "Dad doesn't care about us at all."

Lin Yusheng's heart clenched. She thought of the bouquet of flowers from last night and said to her son very seriously, "Mom made a mistake. Dad is just angry with Mom. Once Mom comforts him, you will know that Dad actually loves you very much."

If it weren't for that necklace, she probably would have thought, like her son, that Lu Zhengye no longer cared about her.

"But he's a grown man, how can he argue with Mommy?"

Lin Yusheng chuckled, "Emotions have nothing to do with gender, nor with right or wrong."

Lu Shifan nodded thoughtfully.

Lin Yusheng suddenly remembered, "By the way, you came up with that crazy idea for last night's event, but who else helped you?"

"Godmother."

Lin Yusheng smiled, then realized she hadn't checked her messages. She opened her phone and glanced at it casually, and sure enough, Shen Yishu had sent her a lot of messages.

Qin Yi booked the restaurant, but because of Lin Yusheng's special status, he didn't come out to pick her up.

Lin Yusheng wore a mask and hat, and also put a children's mask on Lu Shifan. She led her son into the private room.

Qin Yi knew her tastes, so he ordered all the dishes.

"Uncle Qin, it's been so long! I've missed you so much!" Lu Shifan, that little devil, always had a sweet tongue when he met someone.

Qin Yi lifted him up by his armpits, "Little rascal, have you been listening to your mother lately?"

"Yes, you can see it on variety shows. I've been very well-behaved."

Lin Yusheng was both amused and exasperated. "Didn't you say you were hungry? Come down and eat quickly."

After finishing their meal, Qin Yi suddenly asked, "Was that bouquet of flowers a gift from him?"

"Um."

Qin Yi gave a self-deprecating laugh, "Looks like I don't have a chance."

Lin Yusheng was speechless for a moment, "Qin Yi, you deserve better."

That's truly what she thought. Qin Yi was a good person, and he deserved a woman who loved him wholeheartedly.

Lu Shifan silently lowered his head and ate his rice; this topic was irrelevant to him.

Qin Yi changed the subject and showed her the concert program on his phone.

Lin Yusheng glanced at it briefly and then saw another person she didn't like—Jiang Yanqi.

Seeing that she frowned subconsciously, Qin Yi asked, "What's wrong?"

"Jiang Yanqi was his first love."

Qin Yi: "..." How could he have forgotten about this?

"How about we look at something else?"

Lin Yusheng said, "No need, this one is fine. Aren't there others besides her?"

Qin Yi, a soldier, had no musical talent whatsoever; he simply wanted to keep Lin Yusheng company.

When Lin Yusheng was in Jiangnan, she would go to concerts whenever she had free time. She liked to immerse herself in music with the people around her.

The three set off, and by the time they arrived, night had already fallen.

Qin Yi bought an excellent seat, in the middle of the third row.

The three sat down, with Lu Shifan between the two.

This type of concert is an immersive musical experience, featuring both well-known and unknown musicians. Anyone with talent can sign up for the auditions, and those who are selected and successfully perform will receive payment.

Before it even started, the entire place was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

That's how these concerts are. Although Lu Shifan felt extremely uncomfortable, he didn't make a scene. It wasn't his first time attending a concert, so he knew the rules.

The seat to Lin Yusheng's right remained empty; no one had come even though the show was about to start.

She thought to herself that something must have suddenly come up and he couldn't come.

But five minutes before the show was about to start, Lin Yusheng caught a glimpse of a tall figure walking into the aisle in her row.

Before she could even see his face clearly, Lin Yusheng felt her heart race, and a complex mix of emotions overwhelmed her.

Because his physique is so similar to Lu Zhengye's.

Lin Yusheng turned her head and, sure enough, the people who came were Lu Zhengye and Wei Qing.

Wei Qing's pupils dilated the moment he saw her; he was clearly shocked.

But Lu Zhengye didn't. He should have recognized her earlier than she did, so his deep eyes were cold and devoid of any other emotion.

Although she and Qin Yi were completely innocent, Lin Yusheng still felt inexplicably guilty.

However, she soon realized that Lu Zhengye had never been interested in music, so why would he suddenly come to a place like this?

A name popped into her mind—Jiang Yanqi.

Could it be...?

Lin Yusheng bit her lower lip. Could it be that Lu Zhengye no longer disliked her?

She knew the possibility was slim, but as long as there was even the slightest hint, she couldn't help but overthink it, so much so that she didn't come back to her senses when Lu Zhengye sat down.

"Mommy, Mommy."

Hearing her son's voice, Lin Yusheng asked in a low voice, "What's wrong?"

Lu Shifan slid off his seat. "Let me switch seats with you. You can sit with Uncle Qin."

As he spoke, he looked at Lu Zhengye provocatively, his bright black eyes filled with the message, "I did it on purpose."

Wei Qing broke out in a cold sweat upon hearing this. Truly, a newborn calf is not afraid of a tiger; she even dared to match her mother with another man right in front of her father.

The surroundings were quiet, and Lin Yusheng was close to Lu Zhengye, so she could clearly hear him let out a sneer from his nostrils.

Lin Yusheng gently lifted her son back into his seat and said, "Be good, don't move around."

Lu Shifan pouted in dissatisfaction, but didn't say anything more.

After Lu Zhengye arrived, Lin Yusheng's heart could no longer find peace.

"Yusheng," Qin Yi called out.

"Hmm?" Lin Yusheng turned her head subconsciously.

Lu Zhengye clenched his fist suddenly, feeling inexplicably annoyed. His possessiveness towards Lin Yusheng had only increased over the years.

Qin Yi looked apologetic.

Lin Yusheng gave him a reassuring smile. How could he have known in advance that he would run into Lu Zhengye so coincidentally? Besides, she was quite happy.

I finally saw him again.

Both of their hands were on the armrests, and Lin Yusheng's sleeves could even brush against his suit.

When Lin Yusheng turned around, Lu Zhengye had already let go of her hand, and his long, strong hands with distinct knuckles rested naturally on her.

The hands that Lin Yusheng could once hold without restraint were now right in front of her, but she suddenly felt a distance between them.

Lin Yusheng secretly moved her hand closer to his, their forearms exchanging warmth through their clothes.

Lu Zhengye saw her little actions, but he remained expressionless and did not move his hand away, pretending not to see them.

Even though Qin Yi was mentally prepared, he couldn't hide his disappointment when he saw this.

"Ah Ye, did you come to see Jiang Yanqi?"

Lin Yusheng was still very concerned and felt uneasy.

Lu Zhengye glanced at her indifferently and said coldly, "May I ask, Miss Lin, what gives you the right to ask this question?"

Lin Yusheng felt a pang of pain in her heart.
