Chapter 270 Replace Thank You with I Love You

"Good afternoon, Grandma Xu and Grandma Liu," Lu Shifan waved and greeted them.

Two of the grandmothers responded with smiles.

Lu Zhengye nodded politely to them.

After the two women walked away, they resumed their discussion.

"This young man is good; he's tall, handsome, and knows how to make money."

"And they love children too. Look how big Fanfan is, he still rides on her shoulders."

"The father and son have finally reunited, so of course they'll love each other more."

...

After dinner that day, Lin Yusheng took Lu Zhengye for a stroll in the back garden.

Lu Zhengye saw the small temple where Lin Yusheng had knelt to worship Buddha, saw the lotus pond where Lin Yusheng sat lost in thought, and walked the path she had walked countless times...

Lin Yusheng had no idea what he was thinking. She was scrolling through short videos on her phone when she saw a familiar figure.

She excitedly grabbed Lu Zhengye's hand, "Aye, look, it's Lu Mochuan."

Upon hearing the name, Lu Zhengye leaned closer.

The video shows Lu Mochuan sitting on the road by the sea, playing the violin. He is smiling brightly, and it must be a spring-like place there all year round. He is wearing a white shirt and jeans, enjoying his violin.

Seagulls flew all around, and many passersby stopped to listen to his performance. Lu Mochuan's satisfaction and happiness were clearly visible to the naked eye.

Lin Yusheng sighed, "I never expected the Lu family to produce someone like this."

Clean and pure.

Lu Zhengye said, "He went abroad to study when he was very young and was not influenced by his family much."

Lin Yusheng nodded.

The two continued watching, and then something interesting happened.

After Lu Mochuan finished playing a piece, a foreign girl came up to him and struck up a conversation.

It was hard to hear what they were saying in the video, but then a slightly bright female voice rang out, "Miss, I'm sorry, his future is already booked."

Lu Mochuan seemed completely taken aback by Han Yuxi's sudden appearance.

The woman who had come to chat her up felt threatened when she saw the girl who was prettier than her suddenly appear.

"What do you mean?"

Han Yuxi took off her sunglasses and said with a smile, "What I mean is, he's already mine."

"Han Yuxi." Lu Mochuan couldn't help but call her name. Now that people are taking pictures with their phones everywhere, if she said this, it could easily spread online and cause criticism.

Han Yuxi didn't even glance at Lu Mochuan; her face was full of confidence.

"Did you say that yourself, or did this handsome guy mean it?"

Han Yuxi felt a little guilty and irritable. She looked at Lu Mochuan, waiting for his answer.

Those passing by probably sensed there was something to talk about, and slowed down or stopped in their tracks.

Lu Mochuan's eyebrows twitched. He knew how much Han Yuxi cared about her image. If he really slapped her in public, she would probably cry for a while.

He pondered for a while, feeling somewhat helpless.

But in the end, he still said to the girl who had approached him, "Excuse me, miss."

Lu Mochuan's words gave the young lady a lot of face, and could be considered as an admission of Han Yuxi's words.

After saying that, he picked up his things and pulled Han Yuxi away.

That concludes the video.

Lin Yusheng raised an eyebrow, "This girl and Lu Mochuan..."

Lu Zhengye understood, "Her name is Han Yuxi. She is Lu Mochuan's classmate and came to Lucheng to see him before."

"You seem to know quite a bit about this; it seems you care about your younger brother quite a bit."

Lu Zhengye chuckled, "He's not my enemy."

Lin Yusheng nodded.

She knew that Lu Zhengye was a man of strong likes and dislikes, so strong that he could forgive her from her past life and deeply love her now.

Lin Yusheng inserted her five fingers one by one into Lu Zhengye's fingers, and then interlocked her fingers with his.

"When spring comes, we'll go to the Island of the Dead to bring Mother back."

Lu Zhengye was surprised that Lin Yusheng took his casual remark to heart, and his eyes welled up with tears.

He turned and pulled her into his arms. "Okay, I love you, my wife."

Lin Yusheng didn't like him saying thank you, so from then on he replaced thank you with I love you.

Lu Mochuan led Han Yuxi to a secluded spot before asking her, "What are you doing here?"

He deliberately lowered his voice, sounding somewhat impatient.

Han Yuxi didn't mind at all, and instead answered irrelevantly, "Lu Mochuan, I'm hungry."

Her greatest hobby is eating. Although Lu Mochuan often complains about her, he actually takes her out to eat delicious food every time.

Lu Mochuan was initially angry because every night when he closed his eyes, his mind was filled with her image. When the person he longed for day and night appeared in front of him, who could guarantee that he wouldn't want to take advantage of her?

But as soon as he hears her say she's hungry, his heart softens completely; it's almost become an instinctive reaction.

He asked in a cold voice, "What do you want to eat?"

Han Yuxi wasn't surprised by his answer; instead, she smiled happily and said, "I want to eat fried chicken."

Lu Mochuan slung his violin over his shoulder and walked ahead, pretending to be cold and hard as he said, "Let's part ways amicably after this meal."

"Lu Mochuan, if you don't care about me, why do you insist on parting ways amicably? Can't we just be ordinary friends?"

Lu Mochuan's hands suddenly clenched. Being friends with him was more painful than being strangers. "I don't lack friends."

After he finished speaking, he quickened his pace. "The first fried chicken shop in the town ahead is delicious. Go by yourself. I won't go with you. I have an appointment."

Han Yuxi knew he was running away again, and she was very angry. She chased after him, grabbed his hand, and made him stop.

She couldn't help but question, "Who did you meet up with? That lover you made up out of thin air?"

Lu Mochuan was afraid she would fall, so he had to stop.

He didn't know if Han Yuxi was guessing or if she really had evidence, so he said, "What makes you say I'm making this up out of thin air?"

Han Yuxi's eyes reddened; she only cried when she felt wronged.

So Lu Mochuan was stunned. He subconsciously raised his hand to comfort her, but stopped himself.

His current status is not good enough for her.

Han Yuxi accused, "Just because I've stayed in Lucheng ever since that night, I want to see what that girl you like looks like, so I can give up on her."

Lu Mochuan's heart skipped a beat. So that was why she had appeared at his mother's funeral.

After the funeral, he didn't have the courage to go to her or ask her why she was still there, so he chose to leave alone.

But I never expected to see him again so soon.

"So I waited outside your company, went to the hotels and restaurants you visited, and asked around, but all I saw was you working hard for the family business, so busy that you barely had time to breathe. So I'm pretty sure, Lu Mochuan, you lied to me again."

Han Yuxi's last words were like a knife, stabbing into Lu Mochuan's heart, causing him almost suffocation from the pain.
