Chapter 74 In Peril

Lin Yusheng: "Show me the address that Sister Yu sent you."

"good."

Pei Shushu got the page, and the address Gao Yu sent was for a hotel.

Lin Yusheng entered the hotel's name into her phone and searched for it.

After watching for a while, her pupils dilated, and she said anxiously to the driver, "Stop the car and turn back the way we came."

Pei Shushu sensed the urgency in Lin Yusheng's voice and became worried, "What's wrong?"

"This hotel was demolished six months ago. There used to be a resort in the area, but there weren't many tourists, so it was shut down."

Pei Shushu felt a chill run down her spine. "Then... why would Sister Yu send us this?"

"Someone wants to harm me."

This is the most likely possibility Lin Yusheng can think of: Gao Yu's phone may have been remotely controlled.

She immediately began to guess who would do this.

Then I remembered what Lu Zhengye had said not long ago: Deng Xingwen was saved by Xie Yuqiong, and Xie Yuqiong was best at using others to do her dirty work.

Lin Yusheng's mind raced, and she immediately called Lu Zhengye.

But the moment she opened her contacts, her phone screen suddenly went black without any warning.

At this moment, Pei Shushu, who was next to her, also said, "Why did the phone suddenly lose signal?"

The driver said, "The navigation isn't working either."

Lin Yusheng forced herself to calm down; her only sense of security now came from the eight bodyguards behind her.

"Driver, just keep driving back."

"good."

Upon receiving the order, the driver began to accelerate.

But the next second, a bullet pierced through the glass and struck the driver in the temple.

Blood splattered onto the glass, leaving glaring marks.

Pei Shushu screamed in fright.

The car went out of control and crashed into the guardrail. Lin Yusheng protected Pei Shushu's head at the critical moment, and neither of them was seriously injured thanks to the seat belts.

However, the enormous impact left the two of them unable to recover for a while.

Lin Yusheng forced herself to accept her current situation in the shortest amount of time: the driver was dead, shot in the head.

There must be someone with excellent marksmanship lurking in the shadows.

She immediately pressed Pei Shushu's head down, preventing her from getting close to the car window.

The next second, a bullet pierced the car window above Pei Shushu's head.

"Sister, I'm scared, boohoo." Pei Shushu burst into tears, her whole body trembling.

Lin Yusheng was also afraid, but she knew that being afraid was useless.

She cupped Pei Shushu's face in her hands and said seriously, "Calm down, if things get chaotic now, it'll really be over."

Pei Shushu's crying suddenly subsided, clearly indicating that she had taken it to heart.

Lin Yusheng picked up the phone and looked at it; it was still the same as before, completely unusable.

Several gunshots rang out, startling Pei Shushu so much that she immediately curled up in fear.

Lin Yusheng cautiously kept an eye on the bodyguards.

If no one rushed over after the incident, it means something else happened there too.

Sure enough, everyone in one car was lying in a pool of blood. They got out of the car and were shot before they could even run over.

Surrounded by mountains and trees, Lin Yusheng had no idea where the enemy was.

At that moment, gunshots rang out from another car.

The enemy used a silenced gun for the assassination, but what we just heard were real gunshots, a total of five, interspersed with screams.

There's a traitor out there, that's what Lin Yusheng was thinking at that moment.

The bodyguard's car door was opened, and a corpse was kicked out.

Only one person came out from inside; he was one of the eight bodyguards.

He held a gun in his hand, a smug smile on his lips, and strode towards Lin Yusheng.

He even made a gesture towards a certain spot, indicating that he was in cahoots with the assassins.

Lin Yusheng's mind raced. This group had killed everyone around her, and one bullet was aimed at Pei Shushu, which meant they probably wouldn't kill her for the time being. But what about Shushu?

Lin Yusheng didn't have time to think. She grabbed Pei Shushu's shoulders and said, "Shushu, listen to me. Now only you can save your life. I'm going to test their purpose later. If they don't intend to leave you a way out, you should run away as soon as possible."

"See that big rock over there? I'll cover you. Run to the back, circle around halfway, and then run into the woods over there. Don't stop, understand?"

As Lin Yusheng spoke, tears streamed down her face.

She bent down and leaned over to the driver's seat, unlocking the car door. Fortunately, it wasn't damaged.

Lin Yusheng couldn't bear to look at the body in the driver's seat; it was a life she had indirectly caused to die.

Even after being reborn, she still doesn't have extraordinary abilities to protect those around her. She can only try her best to avoid causing the deaths of even one person.

Hopefully they won't go so far as to wipe them out and let Shushu return alive.

Pei Shushu shook her head, her voice trembling as she said, "I dare not, I dare not, and what will you do if I leave?"

"They shouldn't kill me so soon. Listen to me, if anything happens, don't think about anything, just run."

No sooner had she finished speaking than her car window on Lin Yusheng's side was violently struck by a hard object.

Pei Shushu was so frightened that she hid in Lin Yusheng's arms.

A moment later, the car window was smashed open, and shards of glass cut Lin Yusheng's exposed skin.

Gao Qi tapped the car's exterior with his gun, a ruthless smile on his face. "I said, have you talked enough?"

Lin Yusheng met his eyes with feigned fearlessness and asked, "What do you want?"

"Of course, we're sending you on your way."

“No, that’s not right,” Gao Qi corrected. “To be precise, it’s sending her on her way. As for you, you have to come with us.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Gao Qi raised the dark muzzle of his gun and pointed it at Pei Shushu's head.
