Chapter 6: Beaten
It was just dawn, and the morning mist was lingering around the quiet Yunwu Village. In the house with a little light leaking in, Liang Jingxuan was lying on the man's full and elastic tan chest muscles, sleeping soundly, smacking her lips from time to time, with her two soft white hands covering the man's neck and her two legs tightly clamped around his strong waist.
There were bruises all over Lu Sui's eyes. He didn't sleep much last night. He raised his hand stiffly and was about to pry his hand open, but Liang Jingxuan hugged him tighter and rubbed it with his nose. He took a heavy breath and took his hand back as if surrendering.
The long wait was an unbearable torture. After Lu Sui confirmed that Leung Ching Hsuan was asleep, he roughly pried her apart and then fled the room in a panic...
It took more than an hour to wash up, and more than 40 minutes were spent in the shower.
As soon as I went out, I could smell the strong aroma of rice. Song Huizi was in the kitchen frying the leftover rice from yesterday. She beat five or six eggs and coated the rice with egg liquid and lard. It was shiny and greasy. Before it came out of the pot, she sprinkled a handful of wild onions on it, which made the greedy people drool.
"Is Xiao Sui awake?!" Song Huizi took a large blue and white porcelain bowl and filled it up, "Second Aunt, you eat too."
"Don't worry about me. Just eat. I'll get you a jug of water."
Song Huizi put everything she needed into a bamboo basket. Lu Sui's eyes darkened when he looked at the bamboo basket. It was the same one Liang Jingxuan had carried to deliver meals yesterday. She had hidden the bamboo basket under the corn stalks when she was busy carrying him back.
"Your second uncle brought it back." Lu Sui looked into the yard through the yellowed glass. A dozen bags of corn were piled up like a small mountain. "Isn't the van broken down?"
Song Huizi smiled and said, "He carried it back from four in the morning until five. Later, he couldn't carry it anymore, so he went to borrow a cart from your uncle Zhang next door and pushed it back."
Lu Sui frowned. Lu Jun has always been a lazy man in the village. Before he got married, he was supported by his parents and his eldest brother. After he got married, he was supported by his wife. He was better at sucking blood than a leech in a paddy field.
Lu Sui saw that he could count the number of farm chores he had done on his 10 fingers. He was a little uncomfortable with his sudden diligence. "Did he owe money to someone again?"
Song Huizi wiped her hands on her apron and said, "Probably not. I only give him 10 yuan a day. He can't owe anyone anything." Lu Sui didn't think about it any more. He picked up the bamboo basket and went to the cornfield.
The early morning sun was not very hot, and it looked lazy when it shone on people. Lu Sui worked very quickly, and in half an hour he had finished a large piece of corn.
By the scorching noon, only a small piece was left. Lu Sui decided to carry it hard, and go back home after breaking it off, and then come back to carry it after the sun went down in the afternoon.
"Husband!" Before Lu Sui turned around, she was hugged from behind by a soft body.
Lu Sui's hands froze as he was trying to break the corn. He didn't know what kind of magic this little idiot had. As long as she got close to him, he would lose his composure and become unlike himself. "Husband... why didn't you call me?" The soft voice sounded aggrieved.
"Let go!"
"No!" Liang Jingxuan tightened his grip even more.
Lu Sui panted heavily and said in a low voice, "Let go first..."
"don't want……"
"How am I going to eat lunch if you're like this?!" Lu Sui said fiercely. Liang Jingxuan said "Oh" and let go of his hand. His eyes were red, like a little rabbit, his hair was soft, and he looked soft too. But Lu Sui didn't dare to look at him any more, for fear of falling into the same trap again!
On the ridge, Liang Jingxuan was wearing Lu Sui's straw hat, which covered most of her palm-sized face. Her long eyelashes trembled. She lifted the cloth on the bamboo basket, revealing plump white buns.
"It's stuffed with pork and cabbage. I made it! But mine doesn't look good. Second Aunt's makes look good..." Liang Jingxuan said, pointing at the ugliest bun on top.
Lu Sui took a look at it and said with disgust, "It's so ugly!" He picked it up, took a big bite, chewed it twice, and said, "It's so disgusting!"
Liang Jingxuan poked his hand and said, "Then I won't pack it next time..."
Lu Sui's eyes darkened, and he licked his lips, as if he was not satisfied yet. He had basically eaten up all the ugly buns. Liang Jingxuan rested his head on his knees, looking listless. Lu Sui lowered his mouth, feeling a sense of satisfaction from success.
"Who is that?! You are messing around in the cornfield in broad daylight!" A rough and playful voice came from behind them. Lu Sui turned sideways and squinted his eyes to see the man on the tricycle with his upper body naked, dark brown skin, broad shoulders, and an aggressive look. He had sharp eyebrows and a high nose bridge. He looked like someone who was not easy to mess with.
"Yu Zeying! Are you fucking tired of living?!" Lu Sui picked up a stone from the cornfield and threw it at him. Yu Zeying dodged by leaning to the side. "You are so angry. How long have you been holding it in?"
The two of them had been playing together since they were wearing open-crotch pants, and joined the army when they turned 18. Yu Zeying was in the Army Aviation Corps, and Lu Sui was in the field army. Because of their special status and the fact that they were in charge of far away areas, they would only see each other every two or three years.
"Brother Ying!" Liang Jingxuan called out sweetly. "Hey!" Yu Zeying got off the tricycle, lifted the white cloth covering the meat, picked out the best piece of pork belly, walked slowly in front of the two of them, and handed it to Liang Jingxuan, "Xuanbao, take it back and let Aunt Hui make pork belly for you."
Liang Jingxuan stuffed it back and hid behind Lu Sui, "I can't take it. Second Aunt said that you don't want to pay, so you can't take it!"
Yu Zeying groaned and looked at Lu Sui, "I remember you were quite thick-skinned. Why isn't your wife like you?"
Lu Sui heard his teasing and didn't bother to be polite with him. He snatched the pork belly from his hand and threw it into the diabolo basket. "Why are you selling meat? Isn't your brother an official in the city? Didn't he arrange a job for you?"
"I was delivering meat for my father. His being an official is his business. What does it have to do with me?! And my mother can't learn to flatter. Being a grandson is something he can do by himself!"
Yu Zeying glanced at the buns in the bamboo basket and said, "I'm hungry. I'll take two!"
He said he would take two, but he actually took five. Lu Sui's face darkened, "You're so greedy!"
"I'm so stingy after eating two of your buns. I didn't even blame you for seducing the young girls and widows in the village as soon as you came back!"
Lu Sui glanced at him with a slightly cold expression, "If you miss, just say so!"
Yu Zeying chewed slowly, "I didn't say anything nonsense. Look, isn't the young widow here?!"
On the goat path between two cornfields, a woman in a blue cotton skirt came. Her long black hair was braided into two pigtails. Her every frown and smile was charming, not to mention when she looked pitiful.
"Brother Lu, my cornfield is at the bottom and the tricycle can't get in. Can you help me carry it up? Just one bag..."
Lu Sui recognized her at a glance. She was Lin Jiaojiao, the daughter-in-law of the Zhou family who lived behind his house. The year she got married, he happened to be on vacation and even served as a best man. Unfortunately, her husband died less than a year after she got married.
There is more than one man here, but she just calls him Lu Sui. Anyone with a discerning eye can see that she is a shrew.
Liang Jingxuan wanted to pull Lu Sui's clothes to stop him from going, but Lu Sui had already agreed first, "Okay."
The two of them walked away one after the other. Liang Jingxuan looked at them in a daze, a little at a loss, "Husband... why did you go with her?"
Yu Zeying teased him, "Because she has big breasts. Suizi likes women like her the most!"
Liang Jingxuan's heart skipped a beat. He couldn't hear what Yu Zeying said. He only vaguely remembered that he seemed to say that he still had to deliver the meat.
He squatted on the ridge, looking at the buns in the bamboo basket, his eyes getting redder and redder. After Lu Sui finished carrying the buns, he left. Lin Jiaojiao tucked her messy hair behind her ears and chased after him, "Brother Lu, let me treat you to a meal!"
Lu Sui took a few steps forward to distance himself from him. "No need, it's just a small matter!"
When Lu Sui went back, he only saw Liang Jingxuan. "Hubby!" Liang Jingxuan heard the footsteps, stood up, and ran towards him stumblingly. "Hubby, mine is big! Don't like her, like me, okay?"
Lu Sui looked at his big "chests". His ears rang for a moment, veins popped out on his forehead, and he began to breathe rapidly. He pulled down his collar roughly, and his "chests" fell down one by one, leaving two large red spots on his flat chest.
"Are you sick?!" The roar was loud and fierce. Liang Jingxuan's heart skipped a beat and she said in a weak voice, "Hubby... I just... want you to see me alone..."
“Damn it!”
Lu Sui grabbed Liang Jingxuan with his long arms and beat him up. When he stopped, Liang Jingxuan's face was covered with tears, and his wet black eyelashes seemed to be the last trembling of a dying butterfly's wings...
"You hit me... I'm going to tell my uncle and aunt! Let them beat you!" He bit his lip and staggered back to the ridge he had just walked on. He lifted the bamboo basket filled with pork belly with difficulty and walked away in a strange posture, wiping his tears as he walked.
Lu Sui broke off a corn stalk in annoyance, "Damn it...!"
When Yu Zeying came back after delivering the meat, Lu Sui was squatting on the ridge, holding a dogtail grass in his mouth, with a depressed look on his face, "Hey, you still remember to come back? I thought you would never come back after leaving with the young widow!"
Lu Sui gave him a cold look and said, "If you can't speak, just shut your mouth. If you can't, come here and I'll cut it off for you!"
Yu Zeying waved his hands with a playful smile, "Wrong, wrong!" He looked around but didn't see Liang Jingxuan, "Xuanbao went back?"
Lu Sui pulled off the dogtail grass and said "hmm" in a light tone.
"Hey, there are still two buns! I'm hungry, I'll take them!" Before Yu Zeying put his hand into the bamboo basket, Lu Sui knocked it away, "These two are not good!"
"Why?!" Yu Zeying asked.
Lu Sui's voice became hoarse, "I'm not full either..."
"Then let's have one each!" Yu Zeying reached his hand in again, "No!" Lu Sui held the two buns in his hand, as if afraid that he would snatch them away. After taking a bite of each of the two buns, Yu Zeying instantly lost his appetite.
"miser!"
Lu Sui rarely swore back, but finished the two buns in silence. I don’t know if it was because the buns were too hot, but his hands were still hot long after he finished eating...
