Chapter 58
The fluttering curtain was suddenly lifted up by a hand and raised into the air, tearing a dangerous bloody hole in the darkness. The figure of a man appeared at the door, looking very aggressive.
He glanced around the tent and walked in quietly. The pointer moved particularly slowly, and he couldn't help but shrink back in the dark.
"Bang!"
Something hit the ground with a crisp sound, which instantly attracted the man's attention and he strode towards that direction.
In the darkness, the trembling figure became more and more frightened. She covered her mouth tightly with her hands, afraid that she would make any sound. However, the knocked-over shelf made her lose her last line of defense, and she saw the man walking towards her.
Finally, a scream burst out from the throat along with the darkness.
"Meow!"
At the same time, a black cat suddenly jumped out from behind her, leaped onto the man, and scratched his flesh with its sharp claws, leaving horrifying scars. Then it jumped out of the tent and blended back into the darkness.
The cat's screams completely drowned out the human voices, and the girl was pulled back by someone next to her, covering her mouth with one hand.
The man followed the black cat with his eyes, cursed, and walked out quickly.
After the man left, there was dead silence for a minute. Seeing that the man had no intention of coming back, Cheng Xi breathed a sigh of relief and carefully stuck his head out.
Outside the tent, silence returned.
"Okay, everyone can go now."
As soon as he finished speaking, his whole body suddenly lit up.
Everyone's brains froze and their pupils shrank.
"I'm sorry! I...I accidentally bumped into something."
In the team, the boy answered with a horrified look on his face.
Cheng Xi was the first to react. He walked to the door, opened the curtain a little, pursed his lips, and looked outside.
The moonlight is soft and no one cares.
Seeing that no one noticed, he breathed a sigh of relief. When he turned around, he saw the scene inside the tent.
A human head was hanging in the air, with red liquid oozing from the corners of its mouth, pupils, and ears. The undried liquid streaked through the slightly cold air, dripping straight to the ground and seeping into the sand.
"Ah...mmmm!"
The timid girl suddenly screamed, but was held down in time by the person next to her. He shook his head, his expression tense, and signaled the girl to be quiet with his eyes.
Only then did everyone see the scene in the tent clearly.
There were bloody heads without bodies hanging everywhere. On the only white simple bed lay a "corpse". The belly of the corpse was directly cut open, and transparent plastic tubes were connected to the "internal organs". Unknown red liquid was being transported in the tubes.
No one dared to get closer to take a closer look.
On the blackboard in the room were illustrations of human anatomy, and next to the illustrations were three photos of children. On two of the photos, a striking cross was drawn with a red marker.
"It's Linlin! The person in the photo is Linlin! I won't make a mistake. He was imprisoned with me at the time."
A boy suddenly pointed at a photo with a cross on it and said in a low voice. Suddenly something came to his mind and he continued to speak.
"Linlin fell ill when he was first brought here. He was allergic to the drug and had a severe allergic reaction. The group took him away alone, but he never came back. Could he have been..."
As soon as these words came out, thinking of the person on the hospital bed, everyone's face showed an expression of horror, and their bodies trembled uncontrollably.
The timid girl trembled in her voice.
"Will they dig us up too?"
"Of course not."
A bloody face suddenly appeared in front of the girl, right in front of her face, enlarged in front of her eyes. There was undried blood at the corners of his lips, his face was pale, the whites of his eyes were gray, and his eye sockets were filled with tiny bloodshot.
"ah!"
The girl couldn't help screaming, collapsed to the ground, and backed away in horror.
The people around him didn't dare to step forward and fled in all directions in the tent, dispersing in an instant.
"Why did you fall? Do you need me to help you?"
The man gradually approached, extended his hand kindly, his pupils rolling around in confusion.
"Don't come over here, don't come over here."
The girl backed away desperately.
"Close your eyes!"
In the panic, Cheng Xi's voice suddenly rang out, and a long stick was swung over, bringing up a gust of wind and hitting the opponent's head.
I saw a head flying out in an instant.
"ah!"
The others could no longer control their fear and screamed at the same time. They hurriedly closed their eyes, covered their heads with their hands, and did not dare to look at all.
Cheng Xi also instinctively closed his eyes, and only felt a stream of liquid spraying on his body and face, but the expected smell of blood did not come.
After tentatively opening his eyes, Cheng Xi finally saw the real scene.
There was no horrifying scene of blood splattering all over the place. The head flew out and hit the ground directly. An unknown thick wire and a plastic tube filled with red liquid were exposed at the place where the head was connected. The next second, the "body" lost control, and the limbs fell apart in an instant, falling to the ground one by one.
Cheng Xi frowned, and approached quietly with curiosity, holding the long stick tightly in his hand, cautious and on guard.
When I got closer, I found that the red liquid was not blood at all. A faint fragrance filled my nose. After a closer look, I realized that the limbs on the ground were not human bodies at all, but more like some kind of wooden products.
Curiously poking it with a long stick, and after confirming that there was no threat, Cheng Xi turned around, his expression relaxed, and a smile appeared at the corner of his lips.
"This is a dummy, everyone should..."
Before he could finish his words, his expression froze, and the laughter in Cheng Xi's eyes instantly turned into fear.
"What should we do?"
The woman snatched the long stick from his hand, raised her eyebrows slightly, and stared at him with an unhappy expression.
I was locked in the iron cage again, and darkness shrouded my eyes again.
The bright sunshine rose again as promised, and the city was dyed with a warm light yellow hue. Life went on as usual, as if nothing had gone wrong.
Lin Sheng bought two tickets and sincerely invited Xu Guannan to watch the magic show. Holding Wangcai in one hand, he waited for Xu Guannan at the door.
The two people and the dog entered the theater's performance hall and sat down in the audience. They heard other people's discussions.
"Be more proactive later. We must seize this opportunity to be 'reborn'. It will be too late if we delay any longer."
Lin Sheng glanced across the audience. Most of the people present were parents with their children, and their intentions were very obvious.
With a slight curl of his lips and a teasing sound, Lin Sheng leaned close to Xu Guannan's ear and asked softly,
"Captain Xu, do you think being reborn is real?"
βItβs just a marketing tactic.β
Xu Guannan answered seriously.
When the person next to him sat down, he turned around and accidentally bumped into Xu Guannan. He didn't check it for a moment, and Xu Guannan's body trembled, and the tip of his ear touched something soft in an instant.
Lin Sheng's lips suddenly touched Xu Guannan's ear, but it happened so fast that he had no time to react. Lin Sheng happened to turn his head and completely ignored this detail.
Turning around again, he saw Xu Guannan's face suddenly turned pale pink, and he looked a little unnatural. Lin Sheng was a little confused.
"You're hot? Your face is flushed."
As he spoke, Lin Sheng put the fan in his hand into Xu Guannan's hand, met his stunned gaze, and spoke nonchalantly,
"The lady advertising at the door forced it on me. I should have asked her for another one."
"Um."
Xu Guannan did not refuse, but simply agreed and waved the fan so that both of them could be blown.
The magic show was no different from the past, time passed quickly, and night was approaching.
"Thank you all for coming to the Magic Troupe. Next up is our final performance β Rebirth. Audience members who would like to participate, please show me your enthusiasm!"
The scene was instantly filled with roars of cheers, as if the ceiling was about to be ripped off.
The performance ended with a burst of enthusiastic cheers, and then, at the magician's command, the entire audience raised their flesh and bones with high spirits, and all the audience members stood up, trying to make themselves stand out.
Suddenly a human wall erected around her, and Lin Sheng was stunned. She was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the crowd. Since she couldn't beat them, she might as well join them!
Lin Sheng slowly stood up and raised his arms high. His slow attitude was particularly prominent.
"It seems some audience members today still don't believe in our transformation. They're hesitant to raise their hands. In that case, I'd like to invite this audience member to experience it for themselves. Beautiful lady in stand 23, you can bring your child up on stage."
Lin Sheng looked left and right, and after confirming that the magician was calling on her, she curled the corners of her lips and immediately prepared to go on stage.
Xu Guannan held her shoulder tightly, his expression showing worry.
Lin Sheng raised his hand and tapped it lightly.
"Don't worry, Wangcai can handle it."
Only when he walked onto the stage did everyone notice that Lin Sheng was holding a dog.
The magician was also a little dumbfounded, and his tone was a little hesitant.
"Miss, are you planning to experience it yourself?"
Lin Sheng squatted down, untied the dog leash, and asked calmly with an innocent look in his eyes,
"This is my son, his name is Wangcai. Isn't he cute? But lately he's been very naughty, always barking at people and being very rude. Magician, did you say you can't bring a puppy?"
The magician was immediately stunned by the question. A drop of cold sweat broke out on his forehead. He smiled awkwardly and couldn't find any words to refute.
Seeing that the other party did not answer, Wangcai suddenly yelled at the magician, with a fierce momentum, and his body made a defensive posture to prepare for attack. Lin Sheng quickly held it down, calmed it down, and looked at the magician for help.
"Master, look, just like this, suddenly yelling at people is really scary. Didn't it scare you?"
Lin Sheng stared at the magician with a probing look. His face looked friendly, but his next words were aggressive.
"Master, could it be that Puppy can't participate? Then you should have explained the situation clearly in advance. You couldn't let me go back in such embarrassment. I'm afraid it would damage the reputation of the magic troupe. It turns out that he's not that amazing after all."
The magician raised his hand to wipe the cold sweat from his forehead. The show was still going on and already there was controversy in the audience.
"This person is so ignorant. Why did he bring a dog on stage? Did he want the dog to participate in the magic show?"
"What's wrong with the dog? It just means she loves her puppy enough. Everyone loves their children dearly, including her. What's there to worry about?"
"In my opinion, this magic trick isn't that amazing. Maybe it was just a trick. It was just a puppy. If it were really that amazing, how could it not work if a dog was used instead of a human?"
