Chapter 48
At first glance, I found that the elevator buttons that were originally intact only had the six numbers 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, and 20 left.
"Is this hotel...haunted?"
As soon as the words fell, the three of them suddenly felt the elevator's rising speed increase sharply. They fell to the ground in an instant, looked up at the elevator display screen, and found that the floor numbers were jumping faster.
For a moment, my heart was beating in my throat. The roar of the rising elevator kept hitting my eardrums. The elevator was so quiet that only the rapid and disordered breathing of three people could be heard. The three people clung to the side of the elevator tightly, as if waiting for death to come.
The building was eerily quiet, the lights in the corridor flickering.
The two of them walked along the corridor, slowing down their pace and going up slowly. Every time they passed an elevator door, Lin Sheng would glance at the elevator number, which always stayed at "20".
Everything seemed calm, but when the two passed the elevator door for the fourth time, the elevator number suddenly began to jump. The lights above their heads flashed five times in a row, and then suddenly went out with a "click". The two were instantly enveloped in darkness.
The red numbers jumped faster and faster, and finally became just a red line, sliding continuously on the display screen.
Then, there was a sharp roar from the elevator door, like a gust of wind, accidentally brushing past Xu Guannan's side. He subconsciously asked,
"Is there wind?"
As soon as the words fell, Xu Guannan received a response. His hand was grabbed and he heard Lin Sheng's voice coming.
"I found the exit, this way."
Xu Guannan had the impression that the direction they were heading was clearly blocked by a wall. Out of instinctive suspicion, he asked again,
"How did you find out?"
But this time, he got no answer.
"Sister Lin! We almost died in the elevator. It's so great to see you!"
Lin Sheng reached out and pulled the three frightened men out of the elevator.
When Wen Yao saw Lin Sheng, he felt like he had seen a savior. He threw himself on her and hugged her tightly. He even slapped himself to wake himself up and told himself that he was really saved.
"Hey, why didn't the captain come with you?"
Lin Sheng stretched out his hand nonchalantly, pointed behind him and said,
"Behind me."
As soon as he finished speaking, Lin Sheng turned around and looked over. The lights above their heads lit up instantly, and he saw that there was nothing in the place where Lin Sheng pointed except a white wall.
The four of them froze in place.
“It’s over!”
Lin Sheng immediately released Wangcai and let it follow the scent to find someone. The four of them followed Wangcai, only to see it flash and crash directly into the wall, but the original white wall disappeared when it hit the wall.
The surrounding lights gradually lit up, illuminating the road in front of them, and the surroundings were eerily quiet.
"Woof! Woof!"
Wangcai suddenly stopped, looked alert, and shouted towards the corner where the light could not reach.
The darkness in the corner quietly gathered in front of the four people, and finally gathered into a human shape, appearing in front of the four people. Under the brim of the hat, there was a face without facial features, but there was no sign of Xu Guannan.
Before Wen Yao and the other two could even cry out in surprise, they saw Wangcai flying up and fighting with Chi.
Lin Sheng lit a yellow talisman, threw it into the air, and hurriedly shouted to the three people,
"Follow it, it will find Xu Guannan."
The three of them slipped away in an instant, without dragging their feet at all.
After escaping from Chi's hands, Xu Guannan could only grope forward in the dark by feeling, but there was no doubt that Chi wanted to lock him and Li Ke together. Following Chi's original direction, Xu Guannan finally stopped in front of a door. The words "2601" were clearly written on the doorplate. He raised his hand and pressed the doorbell.
The people in the house were obviously startled and looked outside through the peephole very vigilantly.
The moment the door opened, the surrounding lights lit up instantly, and a familiar voice was faintly heard from the other end of the spacious corridor.
Having been cheated once, Xu Guannan had to be on guard. He slipped in, closed the door behind him, and immediately turned off the lights in the room. After chatting for a few words and introducing his identity, he protected Li Ke behind him and waited for movement outside the door.
"Captain, it's me, Wen Yao."
As soon as the door opened, Wen Yao's excitement at surviving the disaster froze on his face. His throat moved slightly, and his eyes stared straight behind Xu Guannan.
Before the two people inside the door realized what was happening, Xu Guannan's sleeve was instantly grabbed, and Li Ke's pleading voice came from behind him.
"Captain Xu...Captain Xu, save me."
Turning around, he saw that Li Ke's waist was tightly wrapped by black tentacles. Chi was standing behind them. The wind outside the window blew the hair on Li Ke's shoulders.
The next second, a white shadow flashed before their eyes, pounced on Chi, bit Chi's neck, twisted Chi's head off on the spot, and swallowed it into its stomach.
Lin Sheng's slightly dissatisfied voice came from outside the corridor.
"Wangcai, dare you try to swallow one? You will be deducted chicken legs for a week."
Wangcai whimpered, lowered his head with a look of grievance, and obediently spit out the chi head.
Chi's body turned into a pool of black water, and Lin Sheng shattered its soul, making it impossible for it to reshape itself.
*
The faint moonlight shines through the window, and a pair of women's feet are reflected under the curtain. At night, the color cannot be seen clearly.
"Lele, Lele."
"Le Le, when your mom is not around, you have to take good care of yourself. Be sure to watch out for your dad and the new mistress. They are the ones who killed me!"
"You can't trust them, you absolutely can't trust them!"
In the spacious bedroom, the boy's breathing was as steady as before. In his dream, he saw the woman he missed so much, and his frown slowly relaxed.
The familiar figure in the dream is getting farther and farther away, my legs can't catch up, and my outstretched hands can only catch the fleeting clouds and mist, and can't touch the arms that I think about day and night.
Under the dim light of the bedside lamp, a crystal teardrop was reflected, quietly sliding down from the corner of the boy's eye and blending into the lingering dusk.
Whispering softly in sleep,
"Mom, I miss you."
The locked door opened silently, revealing a crack.
A corner of the pure white dress was squeezed out from the seam, and her long hair was draped over her shoulders, making it impossible to see her face. Her whole body was cold, and the darkness concealed her abnormally pale skin color. A bloodshot eye was revealed between her hair, her gaze fixed on the person on the bed.
The woman stayed in silence for a while, then left and floated into the master bedroom.
On the big bed in the master bedroom, a man and a woman were lying, their bodies pressed tightly together, looking very intimate.
The woman in white dress stopped beside the bed, and she bent down with a slightly trembling figure. Her long hair stroked the sleeping man's face, gently sweeping back and forth as if playing a prank.
The sleeping man was disturbed from his dream of getting rich. He unconsciously raised his hand, trying to get rid of the annoying thing, but he accidentally touched a cold hand. A clear and familiar voice came to his ears.
"He Tao."
The man regained consciousness instantly and opened his eyes suddenly, only to see a long-haired woman's head hanging right in front of him. The hair falling on his face seemed to entangle him tightly, making him lose his breath and dare not breathe for a moment.
His pupils shrank slightly, and fear instantly flooded his mind. The scream was stuck in his throat, and he couldn't scream.
The next second, he was suddenly grabbed by the neck by the "woman". The "woman" was so strong that she seemed to want to break He Tao's neck.
His face flushed red as He Tao was overwhelmed by a strong feeling of suffocation. His instinct for survival made him struggle continuously. He grabbed the "woman" with both hands. The moment he felt the "woman's" body temperature, his mind was startled and a terrifying thought echoed in his mind. He began to beg for mercy over and over again in his heart, with only the desire to survive left.
"Husband, husband?"
Another voice rang in He Tao's ears, a mixture of sweetness and worry. He felt the push from the person next to him, and he suddenly opened his eyes, gasping for breath, as if he was pulled back from the brink of death in an instant.
He Tao stared blankly at the ceiling, the feeling of suffocation disappeared, and he gradually came to his senses. It turned out to be a dream.
Sweat soaked the bed sheet beneath him. He Tao sat up as if he had survived a disaster and tried to breathe steadily.
"What happened to me just now?"
An Yun saw that he was not in a good state, raised his hand and patted He Tao's back, with fear clearly in his eyes.
"You were moving around a lot just now, your hand raised as if you were grabbing something, and you kept shouting for help. I was scared to death. What on earth were you dreaming about?"
The scene just now flashed through He Tao's mind. His scalp tingled and he swallowed involuntarily. A cold sweat oozed out of his forehead. He held An Yun tightly with one hand and said in a trembling voice,
"I...I dreamed of Cui Linlin. She was wearing a white dress, with her hair loose. She stood by my bed and asked me why I wanted to kill her. She even wanted to strangle me!"
An Yun's whole body trembled, as if he had heard something unlucky. He pushed He Tao away and cursed loudly.
"Why dream about her for no reason? What bad luck! Bury her quickly, or I'll have more dreams."
He Tao seemed to be still immersed in a dream, his eyes were out of focus, he lowered his head blankly, an idea popped up in his mind, he instantly grabbed An Yun's hand, his expression tense,
"Yunyun, do you think she will come back to find us? What if she..."
Before he could finish his words, An Yun immediately covered He Tao's mouth, glared at him fiercely, and slapped him.
"Shut up! There are no ghosts in the world, don't scare yourself. You poisoned her yourself, and now you're scared? It's too late! We are in the same boat. As long as I don't betray you, no one will find out. Now we have to get the money quickly."
He Tao was awakened by the slap. He suppressed his inner panic, tried hard to forget the dream, and kept comforting himself.
"There are no ghosts in this world. They are all just dreams. Don't take them seriously. Don't take them seriously."
But He Tao was still worried. A chill ran down his spine, and his eyes were unfocused, as if he was talking to himself.
"Tomorrow... I'll go to the crematorium tomorrow. The autopsy results should be out by then, and the body can be cremated."
An Yun's face showed a hint of impatience. He accidentally touched the wet sheets under He Tao and said with disgust,
"Look at you. The person is dead, but you are still so scared. The sheets are wet. Change the sheets quickly and get out of here."
He Tao was pushed and came back to his senses. He skillfully took out new sheets from the closet, stood by the bed and started to tidy them up.
There was no light in the room, but the night light by the bed was bright enough for people to see clearly.
An Yun lay down at the right time and had no intention of lending a hand.
He Tao always felt a chilling feeling coming from behind him. He would look back in fear from time to time, but he would only see a wall, and he would feel relieved again and again.
Suddenly, his ankle was grabbed and the cold touch surged up again. He Tao stood by the bed and dared not move. A layer of fine cold sweat seeped out of his back, tears rolled down uncontrollably, and his lower body became incontinent on the spot, secreting a light yellow and fishy liquid.
Shivering all over, He Tao wanted to call for help, but was afraid of alarming "that person". However, he felt the hand groping along his heel step by step, and the cold touch became more and more obvious.
This is not a dream at all!
He Tao's spirit was on the verge of collapse. His heart was instantly filled with fear, and he issued a trembling and helpless cry for help.
"Yunyun...Anyun...Yunyun, save me, don't fall asleep..."
A grown man burst into tears on the spot.
An Yun turned his head impatiently and looked at the man who was acting crazy tonight.
"What are you doing? Are you going to sleep or not?"
At this moment, He Tao only saw that the person next to him suddenly turned into Huo Linlin's face. She was wearing a white dress, with her hair loose. She stared at him with resentful eyes and stretched out a hand towards him.
"Ah! There's a ghost, there's a ghost!"
The screams pierced the night, breaking the silence of the room.
He Tao looked at the female ghost in horror. Seeing her getting closer, his legs felt like they were filled with lead and he couldn't move a step. The fear of death gradually consumed him.
