Chapter 291 Half Human, Half Immortal
The atmosphere became more familiar.
The dinner begins at five o'clock.
While others were having a banquet, Vivian and her companion were backstage preparing. After all, they were going to be on stage, so they couldn't be too sloppy. They ate a few bites and then got ready to put on makeup.
Why didn't the dragon come?
Just then, Vivian asked, because she hadn't seen the dragon.
"When I left, I reckon Long was still attending the banquet," Ana recalled.
“Ah, he’s not going to wear makeup… Well, he certainly doesn’t have to. He looks like a delicate twenty-year-old flower, making you want to ravage him.” Vivian said.
They need to wear makeup, but Long doesn't need to at all; his skin is something even they, as women, envy.
"But, isn't Long going to rehearse?"
Although it was all their old profession and the songs they sang were all normal songs, it was still a grand event with so many cameras and big shots watching, so they couldn't afford to embarrass themselves too much.
"Long is a very good singer, don't underestimate him," Ana said. She had heard Long sing before, and many people in China liked him very much. With his skill level, his next performance should be no problem.
"Oh, okay. I should have brought my partner too. Now it just makes us look all alone."
They hadn't expected that Zhou Tianyi would bring An Yutang.
Hearing this, Ana smiled helplessly.
The two rehearsed inside, while Zhou Tianyi took An Yutang outside to meet some of his former acquaintances.
"An'an, this is Teacher Tian'en." Zhou Tianyi brought An Yutang to Wu Tian'en, a famous musician in Tianchao. Zhou Tianyi had once studied musical instruments with him.
Wu Tianen clearly hadn't forgotten Zhou Tianyi. Although he had only studied under him for a week, Zhou Tianyi's comprehension was too high. Wu Tianen wished he could truly take Zhou Tianyi as his last disciple. If Zhou Tianyi hadn't refused, the Chinese music scene might already be renowned worldwide under Zhou Tianyi's leadership.
An Yutang greeted Wu Tianen, who smiled and nodded, "If you have more children in the future, I can teach them music."
Upon hearing this, An Yutang covered her face and laughed. Zhou Tianyi looked at her and asked, "Teacher Tianen, are you planning to perform on stage this time?"
Hearing this, An Yutang quieted down and just looked at the two of them. Wu Tianen didn't care about An Yutang and nodded, saying, "I will perform on stage this time, but I don't have much confidence."
"Oh, you think you can perform on stage?" As the two were talking, a man who looked very Japanese walked in, accompanied by a man who looked very Korean. It was unclear how the two of them got together.
The speaker was the Japanese man, who clearly recognized Wu Tianen as he approached.
Upon hearing the Japanese man's words, Wu Tianen's expression suddenly changed: "Jingbian, whether I go on stage or not has nothing to do with you."
"I'm just concerned about you. I'm worried you'll embarrass our Asian region. This isn't a job you can just casually do. If you don't have any work to show, just standing there like that is awkward, even if it doesn't make you look bad," Inoue sneered.
"Wellside, it's been several years since anyone from the Celestial Empire has taken the stage. If they don't go up now, I don't know if anyone will be qualified to attend the grand ceremony next time."
The South Korean man standing by the well spoke with the same sarcasm and disdain for Wu Tianen.
"Old Jin, you're wrong to say that. In my opinion, it doesn't really matter whether we invite musicians from China or not. After all, the Asian region has enough musicians from our two countries."
The two of them sang in unison, which made Wu Tianen's face turn red with anger, and his mouth, which was not good at speaking, kept trembling.
Seeing Wu Tianen's appearance, the two chuckled. Before Wu Tianen could speak, Jingbian said, "I also have a performance to give. Let's see if your work is better or mine."
After saying that, without giving Wu Tianen any time to refute, the two left without even glancing at Zhou Tianyi and An Yutang.
"Are all musicians from Japan and South Korea this arrogant?" Zhou Tianyi asked.
After hearing this, Wu Tianen sighed, "It was alright before, but now they're becoming more and more blatant."
"By the way, Teacher Tianen, why do I only see you? Where are the others?" An Yutang asked.
“No one else wants to come.” Wu Tianen gave a wry smile, seemingly aware of Zhou Tianyi and An Yutang’s confusion, and continued.
“People used to come, but as we perform fewer and fewer pieces, fewer and fewer people come as they get older.”
"Moreover, situations like the one we just experienced have actually happened every year for the past few years, but the other side always has a piece to present, while we don't have a single piece."
"In addition, the organizers of the grand event are sending fewer and fewer invitations to China. Gradually, some people have stopped attending the event, and even if they have an invitation, they will not come. If this continues, I guess no one will come at all."
At this point, Wu Tianen said with some helplessness. In the past, some friends would come with him, but every time they came it was as if they hadn't come at all. Moreover, they were humiliated by the Japanese and Koreans, so they didn't want to come anymore.
The reason I came here this time is simply because I have gained some insights from the past year and created a work of art, which is why I am here.
After all, if even he doesn't come, then no musicians from China will come, which is rather unreasonable for a great nation like China.
Hearing Wu Tianen's words, Zhou Tianyi and An Yutang fell silent. They hadn't expected that at a world-class event, China would be so desperate to gather even three people.
