Chapter 119 Please save me, forgive me

Chapter 119 Please save me, forgive me

He brushed the high collar of the cheongsam across the air, his tone carrying undisguised domineering and annoyance.

"My wife looks so beautiful today, they're lucky."

Qu He blushed and lowered her head.

In the cramped space of the elevator, he lowered his head, his gentle breath brushing against his ear, "Ahe, this is the first time I've seen you in a cheongsam, you look beautiful."

Qu He's heart was racing, but she tried to remain calm. "I wore it on the day we got our marriage certificate too."

"That's different."

"What's the difference?"

“Aho loves me more now than she did back then.”

The man's sweet words were direct and passionate, making Qu He's ears burn.

This man has a knack for sweet talk, he can say three lines minus two, it's irresistible.

Fortunately, the elevator doors opened, and she quickly gave him a push and stepped out first.

The waiter led them to the private room.

As soon as they arrived at the door, they saw a man with dyed yellow hair and wearing a floral shirt pacing anxiously in circles. Upon seeing them, he rushed over like a savior, heading straight for Zhuang Bieyan.

"Second brother, you have to save me! You must forgive me!"

He grabbed Zhuang Bieyan's arm, his expression exaggerated, as if the end of the world had come.

Qu He stood to the side, completely bewildered.

What... is going on?

Zhuang Bieyan withdrew his hand expressionlessly, glanced disdainfully at the hand that had been held by him, and introduced him to Qu He, "Duan Hengyang, heir to the Duan Group."

Upon hearing this, Duan Hengyang immediately put away his sour face, forced a standard business smile, and enthusiastically introduced himself to Qu He.

"Hello Qu He, I've heard so much about you! My name is Duan Hengyang. I'm Lao Er's classmate in England. I live two streets away from him. I'm his dining buddy in England, his unlucky business partner in the future, and the most handsome best man at his wedding."

He spoke very quickly, rattling off a long list of titles as if reciting a menu.

Qu He was a little confused by his self-introduction.

Are all the friends at Zhuang Bie Yan so...unique?

First, there's Yu Shan, with his unique taste; then there's Gu Yu, the outstanding criminal police captain; and then there's this... master of face-changing.

She nodded blankly and greeted him, "Hello..."

After greeting her, Duan Hengyang instantly reverted to his bitter and resentful demeanor, pitifully pleading with Zhuang Bieyan, "Second brother! We've known each other for so many years, if I made a small mistake in a moment of confusion, you'll surely forgive me, right?"

Zhuang Bieyan squinted.

"Can you really bear to see your wedding in three months without a handsome and dashing best man like me who can liven up the atmosphere?"

Zhuang Bieyan glanced at him speechlessly, "Speak like a human being."

Duan Hengyang glanced at Qu He, then hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but stopped himself.

Qu He, being quite perceptive, immediately said, "You two chat first, I'll go to the terrace over there..."

Before she could finish speaking, Zhuang Bieyan took her hand.

He looked down at her, his eyes resolute. "Ahe, I promised you, I have no secrets from you."

He turned to Duan Hengyang and said, "Just say it."

Duan Hengyang closed his eyes, gritted his teeth, and said, "Shi Yu called me to check up on me just now. I thought it was a proper gathering with you guys, so there was nothing to hide. But I didn't expect her to be with that person, and then... and then they came over together just now."

Who is that?

Who is it?

Who is Shiyu?

Zhuang Bieyan and Qu He had identical expressions, both looking completely bewildered.

Duan Hengyang's voice was muffled, as if he had a walnut in his mouth: "###That @¥%¥..."

Zhuang Bieyan's patience ran out, and his eyes turned slightly cold.

Duan Hengyang shuddered in fright, closed his eyes, and shouted, "Yan Shu! It's Yan Shu!"

He pointed to the private room, "Shiyu and Yanshu were shopping when she heard that I had an appointment with you. She insisted on coming over. We just arrived and everyone is inside now."

Qu He was taken aback.

Yan Shu?

Why did Duan Hengyang look like the sky was about to collapse when Yan Shu came over?

She subconsciously looked at Zhuang Bieyan.

Zhuang Bieyan clearly hadn't expected him to say that, and his brows furrowed.

His first reaction was to look at Qu He, his eyes filled with tension.

Duan Hengyang quickly came over and explained to Qu He, "Please don't misunderstand! Second Brother really didn't know anything about this, which is why I was waiting at the door to apologize. How about I take my girlfriend now and we can meet up again next time?"

Zhuang Bieyan tightened his grip on Qu He's hand.

Seeing Zhuang Bieyan's reaction, she felt uneasy.

Her intuition told her that something she didn't want to happen today might occur.

But she really wanted to know about the entanglement between Zhuang Bieyan and Yan Shu.

Why do Yan Shu's friends act this way just because she attended the party? It's as if they're afraid she'll mind something.

Qu He shook her head and gave a faint smile. "It's alright, since we're already here, let's go in."

When they entered the private room, Zhuang Bieyan held her hand the whole time.

The private room was dimly lit, with an elegant atmosphere and soft music playing in the background.

Hearing the door open, the people inside all looked over.

Qu He spotted Yan Shu sitting on a high stool next to the bar at a glance, and paused in her tracks after seeing her outfit.

Their outfits today are very similar.

Qu He was wearing a light pink cheongsam, while Yan Shu was wearing a light blue cheongsam, though hers was more of a modern Chinese style.

In this setting, their outfits and styles created a subtle harmony.

From the moment they entered, Yan Shu's gaze was fixed on Qu He and Zhuang Bieyan's tightly clasped hands, and a deep sense of jealousy and pain welled up in her heart.

But she quickly composed herself, adjusted her expression, and stepped forward.

She smiled faintly at Qu He, with a hint of intimacy, as if she were not the same person she had seen in Jiangcheng last time.

"Qu He, Mr. Zhuang. I was just shopping with Shi Yu when we heard you had a gathering here. Is it alright if we come over and disturb you?"

Before Qu He could say anything, a blonde, blue-eyed foreign girl in a cute little skirt walked over and affectionately took Yan Shu's arm.

This must be Shigure.

She spoke with a foreign accent, "Sister Yanshu, why are you being so polite? When we were in England, didn't we often hang out with you and Arthur? We had so much fun back then."

Qu He's brow twitched as she listened to Shi Yu's highly suggestive words.

often?

Looking for you and him?

Qu He felt as if she had been pricked by needles, a dense, bittersweet sensation spreading through her heart.

Are she and Zhuang Bieyan often together in England?

Yan Shu gave Shi Yu a reproachful look, then glanced at Zhuang Bieyan beside her.

That glance was meaningful, containing too many emotions and holding shared memories that only a few of them understood.

"Shiyu, don't talk nonsense. The situation is different now."

She spoke softly, revealing a hint of loneliness, as if she were deliberately emphasizing something.

Qu He found the implication in her words very unsettling.

Shi Yu, however, was completely oblivious to the meaning behind Yan Shu's words; she simply felt indignant on Yan Shu's behalf.

She glanced at Qu He defiantly, her tone exaggerated: "What's the difference? Does marriage mean losing the freedom to make friends? Miss Qu, you shouldn't be such a petty person, right? We were very free when we were in England."

"Besides, don't you Chinese have an old saying, 'Isn't it a pleasure to have friends coming from afar?'"

The private room fell silent instantly, and everyone's eyes were focused on Qu He.

Who says foreigners can't learn Chinese?

That's amazing Chinese!

It made everyone present feel incredibly embarrassed.

You really can't be this sarcastic without a bit of sarcasm.

These words were laced with barbs, implying that Qu He was petty and meddling, while deliberately emphasizing that Yan Shu and Zhuang Bieyan were free to make friends in England.

Duan Hengyang was so anxious that he scratched his head and cheeks, while Yan Shu looked indifferent to the world. Zhuang Bieyan's face darkened, and he was about to speak.

But then Qu He suddenly smiled softly.

She took a half step forward, her posture composed, meeting Shi Yu's provocative gaze.

"Miss Shigure's Chinese is quite good."

"It was all Sister Yanshu who taught me." She swayed proudly.

"You're right, it's a pleasure to have friends coming from afar. But..."

Qu He raised an eyebrow and smiled, "We have an old Chinese saying, 'When in Rome, do as the host does.' At a gathering hosted by the host, the host naturally sets the rules. Arriving uninvited and then bossing the hostess around—that doesn't really qualify as 'freedom' in any country; it's more like..."

She paused halfway through her sentence, her gaze sweeping over Yan Shu's stiff smile, each word like a knife:

"Lack of manners!"
