Chapter 122 Good boy

Chapter 122 Good boy

The footsteps stopped beside me.

A familiar atmosphere enveloped them.

It was a farewell banquet for the Zhuang family.

His body almost instinctively wanted to lean over for comfort, but then the thought shifted, and all the bitterness welled up in his heart—the grievances of the cold war these past few days, the terrible takeout, the loneliness of sitting alone all night.

Qu He forced herself to step back.

Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. Despite the pain causing her to curl up in a ball, she still managed to push him away, saying, "Go away."

Zhuang Bieyan was stung by her sobbing voice.

He dared not say that for the past few nights he had waited until her room lights were off and she was completely asleep before he dared to sneak in with his spare key to see her.

Watching her toss and turn with a furrowed brow in her sleep, he could only sit cautiously on the edge of the bed, daring only to touch the corner of the blanket. Only after she had fallen asleep did he dare to linger for a few more glances before leaving.

She barely ate anything tonight and drank so much iced beverage; she simply can't sleep.

I sat in the living room for half the night, not daring to even look at the light, until I heard her suppressed sobs, and then I couldn't sit still any longer.

"Ahe, sweetie, does your stomach hurt?" Zhuang Bieyan softened his voice, coaxing her in a humble manner.

As soon as I touched her back, I could feel her trembling.

Qu He wiped away her tears hastily, pulled the blanket over herself and wrapped herself up, not even giving him a glance, showing no intention of speaking to him.

Zhuang Bieyan picked her up through the blanket, reached inside and gently massaged her stomach, saying, "Don't be afraid, I'm here."

The pent-up grievances and physical discomfort from the past few days finally burst forth the moment he held her in his arms.

Qu He pushed him away forcefully, tears streaming down her face, "Go away, I don't want you to interfere."

Zhuang Bieyan felt a pang of heartache upon hearing her tearful refusal, but he held her even tighter.

He continued to rub her stomach with one hand, while taking out his phone with the other to send a message.

Then, he lowered his head and pressed his forehead against hers, coaxing her softly over and over again.

"I don't want you, I want to go home."

"Don't touch me."

Qu He cried so hard and felt so wronged that she kept throwing hurtful words into Zhuang Bieyan's heart.

Every word was like a needle quenching ice, piercing him and making him feel cold all over.

The gloom in my heart and the suppressed emotions of the past few days finally burst forth.

He remembered the smile on her face when she talked to Zhou Shi'an, the panic of not being able to grasp her when he secretly watched her these past few nights, and the resistance and distance she showed when she pushed him just now.

Zhuang Bieyan held her tightly, his voice trembling with an obsession he himself didn't realize: "Don't leave me, Ahe, you can't leave me, you're not allowed to go anywhere..."

He was afraid, afraid that she would really leave, afraid of going back to the days when he could only watch her from afar.

"I don't..."

Qu He wanted to argue, but the pain in her stomach left her weak, and she could only lean against him.

His heart pounded violently, his chest heaving, burning hot, and tears silently soaked their clothes, as well as his aching and panicked heart.

The interplay of ice and fire left a deep mark.

Unforgettable...

Perhaps she was exhausted from crying, Qu He's sobs subsided, her consciousness gradually blurred, and she eventually drifted off to sleep in his arms.

In a half-dreaming, half-awake state, she felt a slight stinging sensation on the back of her hand, followed by a stream of cool liquid flowing into her veins.

...

The lotus leaves awaken in the warmth.

The first thing I felt was my back pressed against his chest.

She was embraced tightly from behind, completely enveloped by a familiar scent.

A large hand gently massaged her through her pajamas.

It was a farewell banquet for the Zhuang family.

A warm breath brushed against the back of my neck, sending a slight shiver down my spine.

Qu He's body stiffened involuntarily, and her hand on her stomach tightened slightly.

A subtle silence filled the air.

Their skin was pressed together, and they both knew the other was awake.

In the end, it was Zhuang Bieyan who spoke first.

He gently brushed his chin against the hair on the top of her head and carefully called her name.

“Ahe”.

Qu He did not respond.

"Does your stomach still hurt? Is there anything else that's bothering you? Would you like some warm water? Or would you like something to eat? I'll make it."

He fired off a series of questions.

Qu He recalled her disheveled state and tears from last night, and the grievances and awkwardness in her heart resurfaced.

She pursed her lips, deliberately not answering, and directly removed his hand from her stomach.

Sensing her resistance and silence, Zhuang Bieyan felt as if his heart had been twisted, aching with pain.

He didn't let go; instead, he hugged her even tighter.

Qu He struggled for a moment, then kicked and stomped on his legs several times as if venting her anger, before finally giving up in despair.

"Ahe, I checked Tao Baibai."

His voice was muffled, with a hint of awkward ingratiation: "He said that Pisces and Leo do have occasional minor frictions, but they are a match made in heaven, complementary and long-lasting, a perfect pair, and will never clash. Let's stop the cold war, okay?"

He carefully observed her reaction. "Ahe, I was wrong."

Qu He didn't turn around, but just looked at the light leaking in through the gap in the curtains. Her heart ached, and the grievances she had been holding back for so long resurfaced.

She stubbornly persisted, but didn't push him away again. She just said in a muffled voice, "What did you do wrong? I saw you sulking and not saying anything to me the other day. Did you think I was throwing a tantrum?"

Zhuang Bieyan gently rubbed her lower abdomen and pulled her closer into his arms. "No, it's all my fault."

Qu He snorted, turned around to face him, her eyes slightly swollen from crying last night: "Zhuang Bieyan, you see me sulking these past few days, not talking to you, not eating anything, are you feeling particularly distressed?"

Zhuang Bieyan nodded honestly, "It's awful. I'm going crazy."

These past few days, he felt like he was just an empty shell, his heart felt like a piece had been ripped out, leaving him feeling empty, cold, and aching.

"Then it feels just like me, completely unaware of anything, being kept in the dark like a fool, having to guess what others are implying. It's even worse!"

Qu He felt increasingly aggrieved as she spoke, and all the pent-up emotions she had been holding in for the past few days finally found an outlet and poured out.

"You could have told me, but you wouldn't say anything. Do you think I'm that unreasonable?"

Zhuang Bieyan looked at her reddened eyes and felt as if his heart had been twisted, a sharp pain shooting through him.

He reached out to touch her face, but she dodged away.

"No, Ah He, you're very good. It's all my fault. I was afraid you'd overthink it, afraid I wouldn't be able to explain it clearly, and I was just being presumptuous."

Zhuang Bieyan lowered his stance and apologized, coaxing, "Ahe, it was my fault. Can you teach me how to do it better in the future? I'll listen to whatever you say."

"I don't want to teach you. Can't you learn it yourself?"

"I'll learn if you tell me to."

Hearing him say that, Qu He sniffed, pouted, and began to bring up old grievances, her tone a mix of complaint and coquetry:

"The takeout was terrible...it was oily, greasy, and expensive!"

"I can't sleep well at night because the bed is hard and cold."

"You know I'm angry, but you don't try to comfort me. All you do is cook a whole table of food to tempt me! And then you watch me order terrible takeout!"

"Also, when I get angry and tell you to leave me alone, won't you just come over anyway?"

The more she talked, the more aggrieved she felt, and her eyes became a little red.

Zhuang Bieyan replied, feeling wronged, "You said no, I thought you didn't want to see me."

Qu He kicked his leg in anger, "Don't you know that when a girl says no, she often means yes? That's basic common sense!"

Zhuang Bieyan's heart melted at the sight of her puffed-up face, and he quickly apologized, "I was so stupid. I'll definitely catch up on this lesson. From now on, if you say you don't want me, I'll appear right away; if you say go away, I'll hug you tighter, okay?"

He promised, "I will never let you eat takeout again. I will cook all three meals a day. I will hold you while you sleep at night, and I will coax you until you calm down if you are angry."

Qu He felt a little aggrieved and awkward because of his promises, but she forced herself to hold it in.

She mustered the last shred of her composure, looked up at him, and asked the question that had been lingering in her mind, "Zhuang Bieyan, were you and Yan Shu ever together before?"
