Chapter 159 Please Keep Your Distance from Your Ex-Wife
The three of them turned around and headed towards the lotus pond.
They went to the visitor lounge first to wait for Zhou Shi'an to get them their fishing costumes.
Qu He was originally sitting on a chair a meter away from Zhuang Bieyan, but after only glancing down at his phone, he moved to the side.
"Ahe, your period is about to start, so don't go into the water later."
"It's none of your business."
Zhuang Bieyan seemed not to hear her refusal, and reached his hand behind her waist to massage the area where her waist and tailbone were located.
“You rubbed your back several times at Grandpa Niu’s house. Let me massage it for you; it will make you feel better.”
"No need." Qu He took a step to the side, creating some distance between herself and him.
Zhuang Bieyan reached out and easily pulled her back. "Listen to me. You've just recovered from your illness and are still weak. Just stay on the shore and watch over her, okay?"
He exerted a little force with his arm, and Qu He was pulled by him, leaning against his chest.
A familiar scent enveloped her, and her heart skipped a beat. She looked up at him and said, "What trick are you trying to pull now? I won't be fooled by you anymore."
"I didn't lie to you."
Qu He pushed him away with both hands, then used the momentum to slide backward with her buttocks.
Seeing that he was still determined to get closer, she drew a line in the air with her hand, "Please keep your distance from your ex-wife."
"Ahe, don't say things like that again. It makes me feel uncomfortable."
Qu He ignored him.
Zhou Shi'an returned with two sets of fishing outfits.
Qu He took it and went into the bathroom. When she came out after changing, Zhuang Bieyan was nowhere to be seen.
Seeing her looking around the lounge, Zhou Shi'an explained, "Looking for President Zhuang? He hasn't changed his clothes; he just took a phone call and went out."
"I didn't look for him, I was just browsing." Qu He stubbornly denied it, while lowering her head to adjust the pocket of her fishing uniform.
Stepping out of the lounge, a short walk and a turn lead to a 300-acre lotus pond, with a walkway dividing the pond in two.
Uncles and aunts are already digging lotus roots in the lotus pond.
Zhou Shi'an went down into the lotus pond first, then turned around and naturally reached out to Qu He, wanting to help her down.
Qu He recalled Zhuang Bieyan's words and hesitated for a moment when she heard someone call her name from afar.
In the center of the lotus pond, a small train came along the tracks, and the person next to the driver's seat was Zhuang Bieyan.
He was wearing a fishing outfit and a straw hat, waving in the direction Qu He was.
Several children who were playing by the lotus pond screamed excitedly when they saw the little train coming, jumping and bouncing around the tracks.
The little train stopped on the track in front of Quhe.
Zhuang Bieyan nimbly jumped into the muddy pond and walked towards her.
The children's chatter filled the air:
"Uncle Jin, Uncle Jin, this train is so new and beautiful!"
"Uncle Jin, I also want to ride the train. It's been so long since I've done it."
Uncle Jin, in the driver's seat, pointed at Zhuang Bieyan and said, "You'll have to ask that older brother. He bought this train and gave it to our village. He also said he wanted to try it out today."
Upon hearing this, the children swarmed to the riverbank in front of Zhuang Bieyan, their little faces turned upwards, their eyes pleading:
"Brother, can we take the train?"
"The seats on that little train were all broken, and we haven't ridden in it for a long time. I want to ride it again."
"Brother, please."
Zhuang Bieyan happened to walk up to Qu He. He stopped and looked down at the group of little ones in front of him. "Want to ride the train?"
"Yes!" the children shouted in unison.
Zhuang Bieyan slowly looked at Qu He and said, "If you can find a way to invite this sister onto the train, I'll have Uncle Jin take you around a bit more."
"Yes, yes!" The children rushed towards Qu He, grabbing her trouser legs and pleading.
Qu He: "?"
she?
What's going on here?
Using a child to kidnap her?
Good, Zhuang Bieyan, you did it.
Finally, after much pleading and cajoling, Qu He reluctantly boarded the train and sat in the last row.
Before the train departed, Zhuang Bieyan put his straw hat on her head, then turned around and followed Zhou Shi'an to dig lotus roots.
Midway through, Zhou Shi'an was called away by the village secretary to discuss an urgent matter, leaving only Zhuang Bieyan and a few uncles and aunts in the lotus pond.
The little train circled the lotus pond twice. Now most of the lotus flowers have withered, and the few patches of green stand out against the withered color.
The autumn colors of the lotus pond, the gentle breeze on her face, and the innocent voices of children instantly transported her back to her childhood.
She remembers seeing a little train running in a pond in an animated film when she was very young, and she naively fantasized that it would be great if there was a little train in the lotus pond of Yujia Ferry.
Later, Yujia Ferry did introduce a small train, but she never rode it for various reasons.
Unexpectedly, today, in this way, Qu He's childhood dream has come true.
The little train is about to reach its destination after completing its final loop.
A little boy in the front row saw a rare lotus flower that hadn't withered and excitedly leaned halfway out to pick it.
Just then, Uncle Jin stepped on the brakes, and he fell forward due to inertia.
Seeing that the boy was about to fall, Qu He rushed to pull him up, "Be careful!"
Then, the little boy managed to pull her back, but Qu He lost her balance and fell into the lotus pond.
"thump"
"Hey, who fell into the pond?"
"Aping's daughter has fallen into the pond!"
"Ahe!"
Despite wearing a fishing suit, water still got in, and the muddy water blurred my vision.
She struggled a couple of times, trying to stand up, but her legs were slippery and she couldn't get any leverage.
When people can't find a point of support, they inevitably feel flustered.
At that moment, a pair of hands encircled her waist and pulled her out of the pond.
Zhuang Bieyan ran over, his face muddy, his expression a mixture of emotions. "Ahe, are you alright? Are you hurt?"
Qu He felt both shy and embarrassed as he held her, and patted his shoulder twice, saying, "Put me down."
"Don't move, I'll carry you up." Zhuang Bieyan hugged him even tighter.
"No! If you hold me like this, all the mud will get into my clothes. I'll have to walk on my own."
Qu He struggled, feeling the muddy water seeping in through her collar.
Zhuang Bieyan had no choice but to carefully put her down, but he didn't let go of her hand and carefully led her step by step onto the shore.
They made quite a commotion; upon hearing that someone had fallen into the pond, they all rushed over to check on them.
Qu He's hair was covered in mud, and she was too ashamed to show her face, so she instinctively hid behind Zhuang Bieyan.
Fortunately, everyone was kind-hearted. One old man drove his electric tricycle and took them home to change clothes.
The tricycle chugged to a stop in front of Zhuang Bieyan's house. "Go take a shower and change your clothes quickly, don't catch a cold."
Seeing that the old man showed no sign of leaving, Qu He was caught in a dilemma, unsure whether to go forward or retreat, and awkwardly dug her toes into the ground.
In the end, Zhuang Bieyan pulled her into his house before he finally stopped.
"Let me go, I'll go home and take a shower myself." Qu He tried to break free.
Zhuang Bieyan lowered his voice, "Are you sure you want to go back like this? Aren't you afraid that as soon as you step out the door, I'll let the whole village know tomorrow?"
He pushed her directly into the bathroom on the first floor, saying, "You need to take a shower first, and you must rinse yourself off with hot water."
Qu He stood at the bathroom door without moving, making an excuse, "I'm going home to shower; I don't have any clean clothes here."
Zhuang Bieyan chuckled, "Ahe, this is our home, how could there be no clothes for you?"
He led her into the bathroom, adjusted the hot water for her, and tested the temperature. "You shower first, I'll get you some clothes. The towels and toiletries over there are for you, don't worry about using them."
Qu He looked in the direction she was pointing, and saw that the row of items were all brand new and unopened.
Did he anticipate that she would come?
The bathroom door was closed.
Qu He took a bath for almost an hour, and her hair and ears were covered in mud.
When she came out of the bathroom drying her hair, she saw Zhuang Bieyan cooking something in the kitchen.
He had changed his shirt into a casual gray short-sleeved shirt, indicating that he had obviously taken a shower upstairs.
Hearing the noise, he turned around, his eyes smiling. "Are you all washed up? I made you some brown sugar ginger tea, have some first."
Qu He sat on the sofa while drying her hair, observing the layout of the house.
The entrance on the first floor leads directly to the lobby living room, with the bathroom and kitchen located on either side.
The house has been empty ever since she can remember.
I've never been here before, but I feel like I know every layout here very well.
Zhuang Bieyan brought over some brown sugar ginger tea and placed it on the coffee table. "Drink first, I'll help you blow-dry your hair."
To verify her strange feeling, Qu He pointed towards the stairs, "Isn't there a room with two windows on the left side of the second floor?"
Zhuang Bieyan was walking over with a hairdryer when he heard her words and paused.
"have."
"Is the bathroom next to that room?"
"yes."
He turned on the hairdryer, and the buzzing sound dispelled the stagnation in the air.
Qu He's mind was in complete turmoil.
How could she know so much?
It was as if she had come several times before.
She raised her hand to rub her head, trying to clear her mind, but a pair of hands grabbed her from behind.
Zhuang Bieyan turned off the hair dryer.
The world is quiet.
He glanced around the house, still holding hands, and walked around the sofa to sit next to her.
He brought a dry towel and gently wiped her down.
The distance became extremely close because of his approach.
Their breaths mingled together, indistinguishable from one another, making the air seem several degrees hotter.
In her confusion and infatuation, Qu He was the first to regain her senses.
She tried to pull her hand away, somewhat flustered, "I...I'm going home first..."
But Zhuang Bieyan didn't give her a chance to escape.
Grabbing her hand as she tried to pull away, he gently pulled her back to the sofa. "Ahe, aren't you curious why you're so familiar with this house?"
He reached out and tucked her wet hair behind her ear.
"Give me ten minutes, okay? I'll tell you everything, including the meaning of the things in the safe."
