Chapter 25 The "Secret Intentions" at the Farewell Banquet

Chapter 25 Zhuang Bieyan's "Secret Intentions"

In a daze, I snapped back to reality.

Qu He was helped to the sofa in the inner room. As soon as she sat down, a cup of steaming brown sugar water was handed to her.

"this..."

Qu He took it blankly.

The warmth emanating from the glass gradually spread from my fingertips to my entire body.

Warm and cozy...

Zhuang Bieyan found a mineral water bottle from somewhere and started filling it with hot water.

After filling the bottle, he tightened the cap, wrapped it twice with a tissue, and handed it to her, saying, "It will feel more comfortable if you cover it up."

Qu He took it and placed it on her stomach. A warm feeling came from her lower abdomen. Just as she was about to look up to thank him, she saw Zhuang Bieyan turn around and walk out.

She instinctively grabbed his sleeve: "Where are you going...?"

As soon as the words left my mouth, I realized they might have been offensive.

But Zhuang Bieyan seemed oblivious, turning back to look at the cuff of his suit that had been pulled, his other hand clenching into a fist behind his back.

Qu He belatedly withdrew her hand.

Zhuang Bieyan smiled slightly and slowly unbuttoned his suit jacket.

He made this gesture in a strangely alluring way.

Qu He's ears burned, and she lowered her head to gulp down a mouthful of brown sugar water, only to hear a low laugh from above her.

The next second, the suit jacket, still warm from her body, was suddenly draped over her shoulders, and the light cedar instantly enveloped her.

"Get some rest, Boss Qu." His eyes flickered slightly. "I'll go work for you."

The suit jacket still retained the warmth of his body, and because of what he said, Qu He's face instantly turned red.

Just as he was about to refuse, Zhuang Bieyan had already turned and walked towards the warehouse.

"etc!"

Qu He's voice trembled with urgency, "Zui Lan Ting is in the second shelf of the first cabinet in the warehouse, in orange packaging. There are two sets in total, don't mix them up, remember to let the customer check the goods..."

Zhuang Bieyan stood against the light, the sunlight stretching his shadow long: "Qu He, you can try to believe me."

When his deep voice uttered her name, Qu He felt a little strange, as if there was an inexplicable...tenderness about it.

She said nothing, but silently lowered her head and buried her burning face in her suit collar.

The steam from the brown sugar water in her hand rose slowly. Qu He took a sip, the sweetness spreading on her tongue.

Through the gaps in the cabinets, she could see Zhuang Bieyan searching for goods in the warehouse.

A short while later, his calm and unhurried voice came from the outer hall.

Interspersed among them were exclamations of admiration from women: "Are all shop assistants this handsome nowadays?"

With the warm sunshine on her body and a glass of brown sugar water in her mouth, Qu He felt much better about her stomach pain.

My eyelids are getting heavier, probably because I didn't sleep well last night.

When she opened her eyes again, she saw Zhuang Bieyan sitting in the chair diagonally opposite her, with a notebook on his lap and a focused expression.

Qu He was still dizzy when she woke up, and stared blankly at the man diagonally opposite her.

The light shone on his angular profile, and Qu He noticed a small black mole on the outside of Zhuang Bieyan's left arm, as he rolled up his shirt sleeves to his forearms.

"woke up?"

"..Um."

Zhuang Bieyan put away his computer and looked over.

Qu He sat up straight. She had fallen asleep leaning against the sofa with her head tilted back, and now it felt like a tendon in the back of her neck was stretched, making her feel sore and swollen.

She rubbed the back of her neck and casually asked, "What time is it?"

Perhaps because she had just woken up and her brain hadn't had time to process it, she didn't even realize that these three words were spoken without any prefixes or titles, and without any distant formalities, unlike the things she used to say to Zhuang Bieyan.

These three words carried a clear sense of familiarity, and because he had just woken up, his speech was still somewhat slurred and unclear.

Zhuang Bieyan raised an eyebrow and replied, "11:30."

Qu He: "!!!"

What?! 11:30?

She slept for almost two hours!

My mind cleared instantly, and reason returned.

Qu He then belatedly realized that she had actually made Zhuang Bieyan work to entertain guests and watch the shop, while she herself had fallen asleep on the sofa.

I slept for another two hours!

He was still covered with the suit he had taken off.

Embarrassment, shame, and anger welled up inside me.

She stood up abruptly, about to hand over the suit jacket in her hand, but then remembered that she had put it on and then taken it back.

"Mr. Zhuang, I'm sorry to have taken up your time. I'll bring you the watch right now."

No rush.

Zhuang Bieyan got up and walked closer, the scent of cedarwood enveloped him.

"How are you feeling right now? Are you alright?" he asked.

"...Much better, thank you for today." Qu He subconsciously clutched her suit jacket, lowering her eyes to avoid his gaze as she answered.

"Is it always like this? Why does it always feel this bad?"

"ah?.."

Qu He was taken aback. This question was too private, yet he asked it so frankly.

She nodded, then shook her head, and said vaguely, "Not really, it depends on the situation."

Qu He didn't feel embarrassed or ashamed; she just felt that given her current relationship with Zhuang Bieyan, it didn't seem like they were at a point where they could discuss such topics.

Zhuang Bieyan seemed to have grasped the underlying meaning in her words and appropriately changed the subject.

Qu He twitched the corner of her mouth, put down her suit jacket, and went out to get him his watch.

She took her watch and went to the restroom. When she returned to the inner room, she saw that Zhuang Bieyan had already put on a suit jacket.

"this.."

"What's wrong?" Zhuang Bieyan looked over.

Qu He pointed to his coat, hesitating to speak, "Your clothes... I..."

Zhuang Bieyan narrowed his eyes slightly, then smiled knowingly, "Qu He, I thought we were friends?"

Qu He: "Huh?"

She paused for a moment before realizing what he meant.

But what friends would swap clothes like that? Isn't that something only scumbags do?

But Zhuang Bieyan had already said he didn't mind, so if she said anything more, she would seem petty.

Meeting his frank gaze, Qu He thought for a moment and swallowed back the words, "How about I dry clean it and then return it to you?"

"Mr. Zhuang, here's your watch."

Thank you.

Zhuang Bieyan took the watch and put it on. The dial gleamed coldly under the light, highlighting the distinct bones of his wrist.

Noble, elegant, suits him well.

Zhuang Bieyan straightened his cuffs, glanced at the time, and casually asked, "Thank you for your help with the watch. Would you like to have a meal together?"

Qu He paused for a moment, then subconsciously said politely, "President Zhuang, you're too kind. I really have to thank you for your help today. Otherwise, I probably would have had to call an ambulance by myself. I should be the one treating you to dinner."

Zhuang Bieyan looked at him and smiled, "Alright, let's go then."

Qu He: "?"

You agreed so readily?

According to procedure, shouldn't you politely refuse, then I invite you again, and finally you agree?

How can we skip the intermediate steps and go straight to the final step?

"that..."

Qu He wanted to say something more, but she saw that Zhuang Bieyan had already picked up his laptop and was about to leave.

Seeing that she was still standing there, he turned around and asked, "What's wrong?"

Qu He scratched her chin and shook her head. "Nothing, I just wanted to ask what you'd like to eat."

"I've already made the reservation, just get on the bus."

"?"

Is it settled?

Qu He felt that she had been set up by capital.

What happened during the two hours she slept?

Without time to think, seeing that Zhuang Bieyan was almost at the door, she quickly packed her things and followed.

It's the familiar Maybach passenger seat.

As soon as I sat down, I felt a slight vibration in my lower back.

Zhuangbieyan has set up seat massage.

Quhe relaxed and leaned back, and her sore lower back felt much better.

The engine started, and the Maybach drove away.

Perhaps because it wasn't her first time sitting in this seat, Qu He wasn't too reserved. She glanced at the man in the driver's seat and asked, "Mr. Zhuang, which restaurant did you book?"

Zhuang Bieyan stared ahead, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly: "Wangjiang Pavilion."

Qu He nodded.

Wangjiang Pavilion is most famous for its crayfish, which is fresh, fragrant, hot and spicy, a unique delicacy in northern Beijing.

Could it be that Zhuang Bieyan wants to take her to eat crayfish?

Qu He subconsciously touched her stomach with her palm. She couldn't eat cold or spicy foods because of her menstrual cramps, but Zhuang Bieyan had helped her today, so she decided to let it go and just eat less later.

Zhuang Bieyan seemed to sense something and turned around at a red light to ask, "What's wrong?"

Qu He shook her head. "It's nothing. Wangjiang Pavilion is quite nice."

The drive from Heyuefang to Wangjiangge takes twenty minutes.

After being led to the private room by the waiter and seeing the dishes on the table, Qu He realized that she had been overthinking things.
