Chapter 67 Jealousy

Chapter 67 Jealousy

Qu He looked up at the person next to her and gave Zhuang Bieyan a look that said, "What are you talking about?"

But the person who was usually the most perceptive pretended not to understand and lied through their teeth, "What's wrong? Are you tired? You went to bed a little late last night, do you want to go back and rest some more?"

Qu He almost couldn't catch her breath.

What nonsense is he spouting in broad daylight!

This man clearly understood his gaze, yet he still talked nonsense!

Her gaze remained fixed on Zhuang Bieyan's face, completely unaware of the fleeting, frozen smile on Zhou Shi'an's face opposite her.

Zhuang Bieyan's gaze slowly turned to Zhou Shi'an, and the two men's eyes met in mid-air.

Silent sparks exploded in the air, making the air tense.

Zhou Shi'an was the first to look away, smiling as he looked at Qu He and said familiarly, "Time flies. I never thought that the little girl who used to follow me around when we were kids would get married in the blink of an eye."

He emphasized the words "when I was a child," as if to stress a past that no one else could access.

Zhuang Bieyan tapped Qu He's waist lightly with his fingers, a look of sudden realization appearing on his face.

He looked at Qu He, his expression a mixture of indulgence and helplessness, "So you've had this clingy nature for a long time."

Zhou Shi'an's gaze fell on Qu He's hand at her waist, his smile not reaching his eyes. "How long are you planning to stay this time? Why don't you come over for lunch? Your aunt's plum ribs were always something you used to fight over when you were little, and she still talks about it now, wondering if your tastes have changed."

Zhuang Bieyan chuckled as he heard him mention "childhood" and "home."

"Unfortunately, we have to go back at noon today."

He smiled appropriately yet distantly, "But I still want to thank Mr. Zhou and Auntie for thinking of me. Ah He really loves plum-flavored pork ribs. I would really like to learn how to make them from Auntie next time so I can make them for her at home."

Zhou Shi'an's smile faded slightly, and his fingers, hanging at his sides, quietly curled up: "Mr. Zhuang is quite thoughtful."

"That's natural."

Zhuang Bieyan looked up and met his gaze, his eyes filled with nothing but competition. "After all, she's someone I'll be spending my life with, so I should naturally keep her preferences in mind."

The air crackled with the smell of gunpowder.

Qu He, sandwiched in the middle, was somewhat speechless.

Why are these two suddenly comparing this?

Zhou Shi'an's smile faded slightly, and he didn't reply.

Just then, his phone rang.

He glanced at the screen and said to Qu He, "Then I'll be going now. Let's get together sometime when we have a chance."

Qu He nodded, unconsciously letting out a sigh of relief.

Zhou Shi'an smiled, then, as if remembering something, turned to Qu He before leaving: "The kiln opening festival is about to be held this year, and my mentor will be coming from England to participate. Will you come?"

Qu He was stunned.

Zhou Shi'an didn't say anything more, as if he knew Qu He would agree. He left with the words "See you at the kiln opening ceremony," then nodded politely to Zhuang Bieyan and left.

Qu He's gaze unconsciously followed his back for a few seconds.

Just then, I felt a light pinch on my side. The force wasn't strong, but it carried a clear sense of possessiveness.

She was startled and subconsciously moved to the side, turning her head to look at Zhuang Bieyan, only to meet his unfathomable eyes.

For some reason, Qu He felt a little uneasy. She hadn't done anything wrong, so how had she offended this troublemaker?

Zhuang Bieyan withdrew his gaze, his voice deep and heavy: "Let's go."

His hand slid down, holding her tightly as they walked home, his pace quickening compared to usual.

Qu He was pulled along by him. Looking at his tense back, she felt that the atmosphere was too strange and couldn't help but explain.

"Well... actually, I didn't often follow him around when I was little. We just lived nearby, and I always thought of him as an older brother..."

She was puzzled halfway through her sentence, wondering why she had suddenly had to explain herself like that.

But as soon as he finished speaking, Zhuang Bieyan suddenly stopped. His back was stiff as a board, and he tightened his grip on her hand.

"What's wrong?" Qu He asked.

He slowly turned around, took a small step forward, pressed against the tip of her shoe, almost encircling her in his arms, his voice carrying a hint of suppressed grievance: "How many neighbor brothers do you have?"

Qu He was completely dumbfounded.

"ah?"

What, several neighbor brothers? How did the topic suddenly veer to this?

Zhuang Bieyan stared into her eyes, as if trying to find something in them. He was incredibly jealous, but he restrained himself from scaring her.

He sighed, his dejection tinged with helplessness.

Just as Qu He was about to ask him what he meant, he took her hand again and led her forward.

"It's okay. Let's go home."

Qu He was pulled forward by him, her mind a jumbled mess.

fine?

It's nothing, but his eyes look like he wants to eat someone alive.

......

Not long after lunch, it was time to leave.

These past few years I've been so focused on work that my health has deteriorated and my spirit has been ruined.

Every time I go home, it's like a battle, I come and go in a hurry, unlike these past two days.

The car's trunk was packed full; it was as if Lian Juping had practically emptied her house.

Qu He looked at the overflowing pile of food, and felt a lump in her throat, a sour and astringent feeling that made her feel uneasy.

I really can't bear to part with it.

Just before they were about to leave, Qu Jiafeng pulled Zhuang Bieyan out the door, while Lian Juping called her into the room.

When she came out again, Qu He's eyes were red.

Zhuang Bieyan gently patted her shoulder, "We'll come back often in the future and stay with Mom and Dad for a few more days."

Even Ju Ping's eyes were red, but she said firmly, "Your dad and I are so busy at school that we don't even have time to spare. We only come back a few times a year, that's enough. We don't have time to entertain you every day."

Qu He pouted, sniffed, and took her arm: "I'll come back, I'll come back, I'll annoy you to death."

"You know you're annoying."

Lian Juping scolded her playfully, but was reluctant to let go of her hand, "Go back and eat more, you've become so thin."

Qu Jiafeng looked at his daughter, his eyes almost overflowing with reluctance.

He turned to Zhuang Bieyan, his tone solemn: "We only have one daughter, you must treat her well. Marriage is a long road, and there will inevitably be bumps along the way. If one day..."

His voice choked with emotion, "If one day, your relationship truly comes to an end, please don't hurt her. Give her back to us properly..."

"Dad! Why are you saying all this..." Qu He's nose tingled, and she cried out in a sob.

Qu Jiafeng turned his face away and secretly wiped away his tears, waving his hand: "Alright, alright, let's go, your mother and I have to go back to school this afternoon."

Zhuang Bieyan nodded respectfully to them, "The wedding is already being prepared. We'll bring Mom and Dad to Beicheng to stay with Ahe for a while longer."

The Maybach slowly drove away, and the figure in the rearview mirror gradually shrank until it became two blurry dots, and finally disappeared.

Qu He looked away, secretly wiped the moisture from the corner of her eyes, and let out a long breath.

She pretended nothing was wrong and turned her head: "Zhuang Bieyan, what did my dad say to you when he pulled you outside just now?"
