Chapter 96 Kiss Me
Qu He asked Zhuang Bieyan about exactly how the sovereignty declaration law should be implemented before going to bed last night.
He looked mysterious and only said, "No rush, wait for my signal."
signal?
Are they some kind of Smith spy couple, or is it necessary?
In Heyuefang, Siyue couldn't resist walking over to Quhe, who had been holding her phone since morning.
"Senior, are you waiting for some important news?"
"No."
Si Yue sat down opposite her. "It's almost noon. You've been looking at your phone since this morning. I think your soul is being sucked away by your phone."
Qu He's thoughts were exposed, and under her sincere gaze, she told her everything that happened at the auction yesterday.
After listening, Si Yue's focus wasn't on those secrets of the wealthy families at all; she was simply surprised: "So, senior, you still didn't ask President Zhuang about the white moonlight and the swallow pattern?"
Qu He touched her nose guiltily.
Si Yue looked at her with exasperation, "My dear senior, are you really planning to just keep quiet and secretly overthink things and get jealous?"
Qu He quickly retorted, "Who's jealous? I'm not. I just think... it's all in the past, there's no need to ask."
Si Yue pressed, "Still being stubborn?"
Qu He insisted, but lacked confidence: "I didn't."
Si Yue's tone was firm and to the point: "You're just jealous, you've fallen for President Zhuang!"
Qu He's voice was even louder this time, "I didn't! I didn't!"
Si Yue pointed at her, her voice even louder than hers: "Look, look! Senior, you touch your nose when you feel guilty! I know it all too well!"
Qu He quickly put her hands behind her back and raised her voice a notch, trying to cover up her guilt with the volume: "I didn't, you're mistaken, my nose just itches."
The two of them talked back and forth, and in the end, it turned into a game of who could shout the loudest.
Just as the atmosphere became tense, Qu He's phone beeped with a message notification.
She picked up her phone and glanced at it; it was a message from Zhuang Bieyan.
Could you please bring the file folder from my study desk to the office?
Qu He immediately understood; this was his code.
She replied quickly: "Okay, I'll bring it to you now."
Zhuang Bieyan: [Thank you, Madam.]
It was followed by a heart-shaped bunny emoji.
Looking at the little rabbit emoji, Qu He couldn't help but smile. But just then, a small mirror was suddenly thrust in front of her.
Si Yue held up the small round mirror she used for touching up her makeup and handed it to her, saying decisively, "Senior, the evidence is right here! Look at yourself in the mirror and see how happy you are! What else could this be but liking someone? It must have been a message from President Zhuang, right?"
Qu He stared blankly at herself in the mirror, her upturned eyes carrying a clear smile, and the curve of her lips impossible to hide.
Was she really that happy just now?
Could what Si Yue said be true? She really...?
No, no, no.
She composed herself and tossed the mirror into her arms. "You're mistaken. I'm just naturally cheerful; it has nothing to do with Zhuang Bieyan."
Si Yue looked at her with an expression that said, "I don't believe it," and crossed her arms.
"Senior, do you know? I haven't seen you this happy in a long time. Ever since you got together with President Zhuang, I can feel that you are genuinely happy, and your overall condition is gradually improving."
Si Yue spoke earnestly, "Everyone always says that a good partner is the cure for life's troubles, relieving half of life's hardships. I completely understand that your last betrayal has made you afraid to open your heart again. But..."
She looked intently into Qu He's eyes: "But I really feel that President Zhuang is different. Senior, you should listen to your heart and not let the influence of the past block out the light in front of you."
Qu He heard every word Si Yue said.
She couldn't deny that the betrayal and trauma inflicted by Qian Zhaoye were still there, but she also couldn't deny that the pain was gradually being quietly healed by Zhuang Bieyan's gentleness and patience.
Qu He seemed to truly hear the sound of her own flesh and blood reshaping and growing wildly.
But was she really ready?
Are you really ready to trust someone completely again?
Qu He didn't know.
Si Yue saw her lost in thought, but didn't disturb her, and quietly went to the side.
When Qu He arrived at the Zhuang's Building, Si Yue's words were still on her mind.
It wasn't until Tan Cong called her "Madam" that she snapped out of her daze.
Qu He was led up the elevator by him, and on the way to the conference room, she received many burning and probing glances.
She thought that she had achieved her goal of asserting sovereignty.
Upon reaching the conference room door, she handed the documents to Assistant Tan, saying, "These are the documents Zhuang Bieyan requested. Please give them to Zhuang Bieyan, Assistant Tan."
Tan Cong accepted the invitation: "Okay. President Zhuang specifically instructed that he would show you around the company, and I have already made arrangements."
Qu He: "...."
Does she want to?
She nodded through gritted teeth, "Okay, thank you for your hard work."
Tan Cong called a female colleague from the secretariat to accompany him. At the end, as if afraid that she might misunderstand, he didn't forget to say in front of everyone, "Don't worry, Madam, all the staff in the secretariat are married and have happy families."
These words drew even more attention from those around them.
Qu He: "...."
Does she seem to want to know?
Could Zhuang Bieyan have actually taken her words about checking up on him yesterday to heart?
No! She actually had no interest in knowing other people's marital status.
Qu He was forced to take a tour of the Zhuang Building, and at each stop, the female secretary would introduce her as "Mrs. Zhuang".
From being reserved and uncomfortable at the beginning, Qu He was later able to respond to people who greeted her without blushing or skipping a beat, and would even add a "Thank you all for your hard work."
The elevator doors opened, and a new floor had been reached. Qu He was exhausted, but she still smiled reflexively. As soon as she looked up, she saw Zhuang Bieyan standing outside the door.
Qu He glanced at the floor number. Was she back on the top floor?
Zhuang Bieyan stepped forward and took her hand. "You must be tired from shopping. Come back to my office and rest for a while."
He led her back to his office and poured her a glass of water. "Ahe, you've worked hard."
Qu He drank more than half of the glass in one gulp, then slammed the glass down on the table, crossed her arms, and demanded, "When did I say I wanted to visit the Zhuang's Building?"
Zhuang Bieyan showed no remorse as he sat down next to her. "Didn't Ahe promise me yesterday?"
Qu He moved a step closer to the sofa, increasing the distance between them to about an arm's length.
"When did I say that? I only agreed to come here to assert our sovereignty. Didn't I already send you the documents?"
Zhuang Bieyan moved over to her, and the chase was about to break out.
No matter how big the sofa was, after a few chases, Qu He's back was pressed against the armrest, and she had nowhere to retreat.
The next second, Zhuang Bieyan reached out and pulled her into his arms.
"This is also part of asserting sovereignty, letting everyone in the company see you and know you."
"you..."
Qu He knew she was in the wrong and had nothing to say.
Zhuang Bieyan looked at her puffed-up expression, smiled indulgently, and braced himself against the outside of the sofa with his other hand, "Ahe, I really want to kiss you right now."
He had just watched through the surveillance camera as she was respected and acknowledged by everyone on her own turf, and his sense of satisfaction kept rising.
Qu He: "...Hmm?"
She was starting to wonder if she had amnesia, otherwise why would Zhuang Bieyan's topic change so quickly?
Qu He turned her head away, which meant she was refusing.
Zhuang Bieyan didn't give up, chasing after her and kissing her, a light, fleeting kiss landing on the corner of her lips.
Qu He shrank back, while he moved forward.
Finally, her upper body was lifted into the air and arched back. Zhuang Bieyan knelt on one knee on the sofa, supporting her waist.
Qu He braced herself against the sofa with her hands behind her back, her heart pounding faster as she watched the person getting closer.
Zhuang Bieyan leaned down and kissed her neck, then moved upwards, first to her ear and then to her cheek, finally gently touching her lips.
They broke up and got back together several times, and each time Qu He would shake her head from side to side, so his kisses could only land on the corners of her lips or cheeks.
This feigned reluctance turned into a silent invitation. Zhuang Bieyan's breathing gradually quickened, and he whispered a few words in her ear.
Qu He's face turned bright red. She wanted to push him away but was afraid of falling, so she could only kick him with her calf. "Are you crazy? This is the office."
Zhuang Bieyan bit her reddened earlobe, his voice hoarse: "Then kiss me, and I won't make a fuss."
The hot breath touched the side of her neck, and seeing his hand about to slip under her clothes, Qu He used the strength of his arm to straighten herself up and leaned in.
A kiss landed swiftly.
But Zhuang Bieyan was not satisfied and deepened the kiss while holding her.
He only let go when Qu He was out of breath and pushed him away, finally letting her lie in his arms.
Zhuang Bieyan held her tightly, feeling her rising and falling breaths through his chest, his heart was full.
Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Tan Cong's voice rang out, "President Zhuang, the second half of the meeting should begin."
Qu He suddenly looked up at him, surprised, "Your meeting isn't over yet?"
Zhuang Bieyan didn't answer. Staring at her bright red lips, he was suddenly moved and lifted his chin to kiss her again.
"Then you should go to the meeting quickly," Qu He urged him.
Zhuang Bieyan ignored him, his mind solely focused on kissing her.
"Oh no, we've been in the office for so long, who knows what people outside are saying about us."
Qu He's eyebrows were almost furrowed, but Zhuang Bieyan was still only focused on kissing her.
He bit her neck harder, and Qu He couldn't help but hiss in pain and kick him.
Zhuang Bieyan stopped when he heard her gasp, and carefully pulled open her collar, where he saw a clear red mark.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't help it."
He apologized, touching the mark with pity.
But deep down, that's not what I thought at all.
Looking at the red mark on her neck, an undisguised possessiveness surged in his eyes; it was his own unique mark.
Zhuang Bieyan even felt a secret sense of satisfaction, and those dark thoughts began to stir within him.
