Chapter Thirty-Eight: The Mingfei Family

Lin Jicheng's gaze lingered on that mysterious blue for a long time. The halo, like that of an Arctic glacier, flowed slowly, allowing her to deeply feel this ultimate beauty!

"Speaking of which, I bought red, yellow, green, cyan, purple, white, and black jade today... but I haven't bought any blue jade yet!"

Lin Jicheng seemed to be deep in thought:

"I think the fact that this poster is in a place we can see it must be some kind of omen... meaning that I will definitely take it down!"

"No way, Miss, you've bought so much and you still don't want to stop?!"

Yi Songchun smiled jokingly, finally remembering where she had heard the name "Mingfei Family" before:

“When I was working at JSD, I used to handle products from Mingfei Family. Their products were of pretty good quality, and they had sold quite a few high-value jade pieces.”

"I vaguely remember that the Mingfei family was a powerful family that often did jade business in the vicinity of Yunnan Province. However, it is said that their main sphere of influence was overseas."

Yi Songchun pondered, trying hard to recall:

"Unfortunately, precisely because of this, my understanding of them isn't that deep. I always feel that what they've shown us, the JSD, is just the tip of the iceberg; perhaps they have even greater power behind them, who knows..."

"What energy can't be measured? Why don't we just go and take a look?"

Lin Jicheng had made up her mind; she had to go for that breathtaking ghostly blue!

The two arrived together at the location shown on the poster. Compared to the chaotic market selling jade materials they had just visited, the environment here was clearly much more upscale.

A low-key waiter dressed in black led the two along a secluded city alley for a long time before finally arriving at a private art gallery. The exterior of the gallery had no obvious signs, and if someone hadn't brought her there, Lin Jicheng would never have known that such a large auction venue was hidden in the lush forest!

The art gallery's exterior is clearly in a classical Chinese style, yet it's adorned with numerous avant-garde artworks. A strong sandalwood scent permeates the air, creating a stark contrast with the boldly styled modern art pieces displayed throughout. Unlike typical auctions, the staff here are all dressed in black suits, wearing large sunglasses and communicators in their ears, resembling robots. Their movements are precise, but their expressions are utterly indifferent.

Upon seeing Lin Jicheng and his companion, several waiters quickly surrounded them. After their documents were verified, they were naturally invited to sit in the best private box in the auction.

Before long, the auction officially began!

Unlike previous JSD auctions, all the products auctioned here were related to jade and jadeite – some had been meticulously carved into beautiful works of art, some were whole pieces of uncarved jade, and there were even various raw jade pebbles. At Lin Jicheng's suggestion, Yi Songchun frequently raised his paddle and eventually acquired several pieces of good quality jade.

"Alright, this should be enough. I've achieved my goal for coming to Yunnan Province!"

Yi Songchun nodded contentedly, while Lin Jicheng looked puzzled.

Her attention was not on the seemingly high-quality items, and by the end of the auction, Lin Jicheng still hadn't found that stunning blue jade, leaving her somewhat puzzled and disappointed.

Without waiting any longer, Lin Jicheng beckoned to a nearby waiter and asked directly, to which the waiter politely replied:

"Honorable guest, the blue vein you mentioned is called 'Abyssal Blue Heart,' a family heirloom of the Mingfei family, which we don't easily sell..."

"No, if you're not going to sell it, why put it on the poster? Isn't that false advertising?"

Lin Jicheng was somewhat angry and was about to question the event organizers when he suddenly heard a soft laugh from behind him.

"Haha, it's not that 'Azure Heart of the Abyss' won't be put up for sale; it's just that it's been waiting for a truly knowledgeable and capable person to be its destined owner!"

Lin Jicheng and Yi Songchun turned their heads and saw a young man wearing a Chinese-style long gown and gold-rimmed glasses walk out from the dark backstage of the auction.

Tall and muscular, with sharply defined features, his skin was tanned dark, but his eyes behind his glasses shone with an astonishing brightness.

"You two ladies have excellent eyesight! You can tell at a glance that our family heirloom is rare and precious..."

The other party politely extended their hand:

"Ming Huaiping from the Mingfei family! May I ask how you two are addressed?"

Lin Jicheng and Yi Songchun exchanged names with the other party. After learning the other party's name, Ming Huaiping clapped his hands and smiled:

"So it's you two distinguished guests! We're so sorry for not greeting you sooner!"

"Actually, the 'Azure Heart of the Abyss' that the two ladies just took a liking to is not a single piece of raw stone. It is a window into a rare and rich mineral vein. Because it is so huge, it cannot be moved... I hope the two ladies can understand!"

"As for this auction, it was because we wanted to attract some truly knowledgeable and capable buyers, and we didn't expect that the two of you would actually show up! This is truly a chosen opportunity...!"

Ming Huaiping was very enthusiastic and outgoing:

"If you two ladies are truly interested, on behalf of the Ming family, I extend a formal invitation to you to come to the vicinity of the mine and see the item in person before deciding whether to purchase it!"

Lin Jicheng and Yi Songchun exchanged a glance, and she saw a bright curiosity in each other's eyes—

"A blue jade vein! And it's this ghost blue that looks really high-quality!"

Yi Songchun's eyes sparkled, clearly showing great interest:

"Honestly, this level of item is extremely rare. I've never seen anything like it in all my years as an auctioneer!"

"Miss Lin, shall we go together? Even if I don't buy anything, it'll be an eye-opening experience!"

Lin Jicheng smiled:

"Alright! Anyway, I'm also very interested in blue jade..."

Ming Huaiping's smile widened; he remained impeccably polite, without a single fault.

"Ladies, there are too many people around here, it's not the right place for a serious discussion... Please move to our private garage, and we can continue our conversation there!"

Right at the back entrance of the art museum, a modified black van was already waiting quietly. Lin Jicheng and Yi Songchun got into the car and found that the interior maintained the art museum's usual luxurious style: spacious seats, leather seats, and a small refrigerator stocked with expensive champagne. Several incredibly burly art museum bodyguards stepped forward and closed the car door, shutting out everything from the outside world…

Yi Songchun looked the van up and down curiously. Lin Jicheng remained outwardly calm, but upon closer inspection, he noticed several inconsistencies in the vehicle's design.

There is no manual door opening mechanism on the inside of the doors, and there is a reinforced glass partition completely separating the front and rear rows, preventing passengers from interfering with the driver's console...

Even the car windows here are extremely dark tinted, clearly bulletproof glass!
