Chapter 192 Li Mai's First Shop Opens

After the young lady came out, Li Mai guided her to look in the mirror first and see how it looked.

When she realized how clearly she looked in the mirror, the lady screamed excitedly, "Ahhh, Anan and Mei, come and see!"

The customers in the store were startled by her shout and all looked over.

Upon closer inspection, they noticed that the young lady looked absolutely stunning in that dress.

Wow, I never expected this dress to look like this on me, it's so beautiful!

"Yes, yes, I just heard it. The shopkeeper described it as a pomegranate skirt."

Meanwhile, A-Qiao's friends, who had gathered around her, noticed the small mirror on the fitting room door.

They could hardly believe their eyes that there was such a clear mirror. They had never seen one before.

"Shopkeeper, where did you get this mirror?" several people asked Li Mai excitedly.

Their shouts drew even more people to look in the mirror.

Sure enough, they discovered that they had never seen such a mirror before. They never expected that this newly opened clothing store would have such a good thing!

Li Mai replied with a smile, "My husband got it from a wandering old man when he was traveling. I thought it would allow people to clearly see what kind of clothes they were wearing, so I put it here."

"I see, what a pity! I was just about to ask where you bought them!" The ladies cried out in despair when they heard that they couldn't buy them anywhere.

Li Mai chuckled, "Whenever you want to look in the mirror, you can come in and look at yourself whenever you pass by."

"Hehe, you're a really nice shopkeeper. This dress is beautiful and I love it. I'll buy it. Do you have any dresses suitable for a three-year-old girl? I'd like to buy one for my daughter too."

"Yes, madam, we also have a cute little dress made of pomegranate red fabric. Come over here and see if you like it." Li Mai smiled and guided A Qiao and the others to the children's clothing section to look at the little dress.

"Oh my, this little dress is so cute! I've never seen a dress like this before!"

The young ladies were also open to new things; they immediately fell in love with the little dress with ruffled puff sleeves—it was so cute!

"Shopkeeper, do you have any dresses for a seven-year-old girl?"

"Do you have dresses for five-year-old boys? Uh oh, I mean robes!"

Li Mai listened to the ladies' chattering questions and answered them one by one with a smile.

Seeing Li Mai busy, Zhou Quan, who was free, also came over to help. The ladies who had asked him questions earlier had only looked but not tried, probably because they were too embarrassed to ask to try.

Zhou Quan simply followed Li Mai's instructions and helped carry the things.

After a flurry of activity, Li Mai sold three ruqun (a type of traditional Chinese dress), four children's skirts, and two robes among the group of ladies.

The turnover was thirty-nine taels of silver.

Li Mai gave each of the five young ladies a handkerchief.

The five people picked out what they liked to buy: two picked orchids, two picked chrysanthemums, and one picked plum blossoms.

Finally, the five people left the Red Pomegranate Clothing Store happily with their packed clothes. Li Mai watched them leave and told them to come and look in the mirror anytime they wanted.

The bags for carrying clothes were also hand-held cloth bags made by the women themselves from linen dyed in various colors; people could also use them to carry other things back home.

Of course, the bag is also embroidered with the words "Red Pomegranate Garment Workshop".

Li Mai's words immediately amused the five young ladies, who covered their mouths and laughed, waving at her as they walked away.

This is the first transaction completed today.

Li Mai set an example for them, and the four sales clerks and Zhou Tao felt that they had learned a lot. They also went to warmly serve the customers in the back.

After getting off to a good start, business became much easier. People saw that there were real buyers, and those who had plenty of money bought what they wanted, since the shopkeeper would give them a handkerchief as a gift.

Today, Li Mai also has another featured item in the store, which is the Peach Blossom Fairy Dress.

Just like giving each piece of jewelry a name, Li Mai also gave each of her main featured pieces a nice name.

Upon hearing the name of the dress, some customers noticed that Jin Yu Ge had recently launched a piece of jewelry called "Love Goddess's Peach Blossom Fairy".

"Shopkeeper, is your shop affiliated with Jin Yu Ge? How come your dresses match Jin Yu Ge's new jewelry perfectly?" a lady asked curiously.

Li Mai said with a smile, "Yes, Jin Yu Ge is run by my sister. My new styles can be matched with their styles. You can tell which style matches which style best just by listening to the names."

Li Mai readily admitted it, and people instantly understood that they were relatives of the Jin Yuge family, supporting each other in business, which was quite nice.

Seeing that Zhou Tao and the sales clerks were busy, Li Mai and Zhou Quan came out from behind the counter. Zhou Quan went to the back to check if the water had boiled and then went to make tea for everyone.

Li Mai then walked towards Zhao Shi, who was holding Zhu Zhu's hand and had just entered through the door.

"Mother, Zhuzhu!" Li Mai greeted Zhao Shi with a smile, then bent down and picked up Zhuzhu.

Last night, Zhao and Zhuzhu stayed at the Li family's residence in town.

Only Old Man Zhou remained at his home in the village to look after the house and keep an eye on the progress of the village's dyeing workshop project.

"Can your mother help you?" Zhao asked Li Mai when she saw Li Mai holding Zhu Zhu.

“There are too many people here, and there’s not much you can do. Why don’t you and Zhuzhu go upstairs first?” Li Mai asked.

Mrs. Zhao nodded, "Alright, Zhuzhu, come upstairs with Grandma!"

When we were tidying up this place the day before yesterday and yesterday, and hanging up clothes, Zhao came to help. She also got to know the embroiderers upstairs.

These past few days, little cutie Zhuzhu has become a little model. Many little girls' dresses have been made in Zhuzhu's size by Limai so she can try them on and see how they look.

Two of the paintings depict children in dresses; they were of Zhuzhu wearing a dress, and the artist painted them for her.

The two men in long robes are Zhou Lin, and the two women in skirts are Zhou Tao.

I must say, my own brother-in-law and sister-in-law, dressed in those brocade and silk clothes, looked quite elegant, no less so than the sons and daughters of wealthy families.

Li Mai instructed the painter to focus on the clothing, and to simply sketch the person's face with a few strokes.

So even though they were the models, the painting was hanging on the wall inside the store, and people who weren't familiar with it couldn't recognize who the people in the painting were.

However, those familiar with Zhou Lin and Zhou Tao can still see some similarities between the people in the painting and Zhou Lin and Zhou Tao if they look closely.

Li Mai escorted another group of customers who had bought several pieces of clothing to the shop's door. Just as he was about to return, he saw a group of people on horseback parked by the roadside, looking up in his direction.

At first glance, Li Mai saw Yun Wang, who was sitting on his horse, smiling at her.
